20 Things That Happened After Harry Potter Ended (That Fans Need To Know)

Anyone who is obsessed with the wonderful and magical world of wizard Harry Potter and company are probably dwindling their thumbs right now in anxiety because there is nothing about HP to look forward to anymore since the books have ended, and that is totally understandable. However, there is still a lot of information lingering about the wizarding world. So, if you thought that was the end, you are completely wrong ― don't get too excited now. What has happened to our favourite characters and Hogwarts? Do not fret, J.K. Rowling was not going to let the entire universe down.

In many ways, the epilogue in the final book was like the beginning of a whole other life for the characters who made it out alive. The characters finally found their way and were no longer on a lost path, and through all their adventures, the next was to be the greatest of all; adulthood. The characters never thought they'd make it so far, but fast forward 19 years, and most of them became loving parents with children.

However, the saddest part of all, is that we are not sure if there will ever be a continuation to the lives of our beloved wizards. So, to not let you down, in the meantime, here are some facts that go far beyond what you may know.

20 Ginny Weasley’s New Life

via J.K. Rowling Live Blogs For The Wizarding World Rejoic

Leave it to the mastermind of the wizarding world herself, author J.K. Rowling to reveal the future of the characters she created. Since they made it to adulthood, our favourite wizards, who never thought themselves they would, eventually had no choice to engage in some kind of "normal" life. Normal still includes playing Quidditch though. So, we found out that Ginny Weasley who became a professional Quidditch player, played a few years for the Holyhead Harpies, but then retired to become a Quidditch correspondent.

19 The New Minister Of Magic

If we knew they were looking for a new candidate for the Minister for Magic, we would certainly have been the first in line. We would definitely want to reach out and be a helping hand to help restore the wizarding world after the damage the Death Eaters did. Instead, we lost our chance, but that is fine, because former Auror Kingsley Shacklebolt got the deserving spot. After the passing of Voldemort, it was a priority of the Order of the Phoenix to find a new Minister for Magic. We did not see much of Shacklebolt in the films, but the books developed his character very well, which is why he was appointed the new minister. With him, discrimination was destroyed.

18 The Love Story Came Full Circle

via Hero Complex Los Angeles Times

Ladies, back off, the one and only Harry finally came to realization that Ginny was his heart's equal. Though we know he had fallen in love with her from the last two books, he never did anything about it ― typical boy behaviour. That is, until he saw his best friend's sister canoodle with another man, and finally came to his senses. And because Ginny, as we knew, was already in love with him, we rejoiced to find out he finally admitted the same. And now, they have three children together: James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna.

17 At Last, Ron And Hermione

Don't you just love happy endings? Throughout the series, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger had a relationship that we saw grow, but also perish. We know that even in the wizarding world, life was not a merry-go-round, but also a rollercoaster; one that would go so high and then drop so low, a lot like Ron and Hermione's relationship. However, in The Deathly Hallows, we finally saw them give love a chance. Though many always wanted it to be Harry and Hermione, Ron and Hermione went on to get married and had two children.

16 A New Hogwarts

via Harry Potter Wiki -Fandom

Voldemort's passing stirred up a lot of things in the HP world, including the famously known school our wizard friends attended. Nineteen years after the Battle of Hogwarts, the school made a big change by appointing an entirely new headmaster as well as a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. It was obvious that Minerva McGonagall would be Headmistress. Also, since Voldemort died, the curse that was put up against the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor was broken, as before Voldemort held a jinx that no teacher could keep that position for more than a year.

15 Harry And Voldemort Share What?

via The Daily Beast

We honestly do not know how we'd feel if we were Harry and found out that there was some blood relation to the evil Voldemort. In fact, if we found out that was true, our face would be as creepy as Voldemort's above when he found out the news ― hey, why is he making that face? Many fans did speculate that Harry Potter, our beloved protagonist wizard was related to Lord Voldemort, and Rowling came forward to confirm the rumour. They are connected through the Peverells, who are the Three Brothers who were the first owners of the Deathly Hallows.

14 A Neville Transition

via IBTimes UK

It is the fable of the frog turning into a prince ― yes, this also happened in the wizard world. Sometimes, an entire film's plot revolves around the dork becoming a macho guy in high school, and Rowling made sure to include something like that. Neville Longbottom, who was the awkward character suddenly became cool, and more specifically, the coolest cat around. After the Battle of Hogwarts, magic folk finally recognized Neville as a talented wizard in his own way. What made him even cooler? He got Hannah Abbott to be his leading lady. And he gained even more brownie points when, according to Rowling, they were told he lived on top of the pub.

13 Teddy Lupin’s Family Life

via Fanpop

According to Rowling, she never wanted it to turn out that way, with Lupin or Tonks losing their lives in the Battle of Hogwarts, but to tie the loose ends of the orphan storyline, she needed a character to unfortunately lose both parents. It is nothing new in the wizarding world, as we saw both Harry and Neville emerge as strong men without parents. However, though Teddy grows up without his biological parents, he got two caring and adoring caregivers (grandmother and godfather) to provide him a better life without Voldemort around.

12 The Trio Separated

via That's Normal

This is our favourite trio since the Big Mac ― just kidding. Harry, Ron, and Hermione made up a trio that we followed and loved for years, from young wizards until adults, and we thought they'd always stick by each other. However, when it came to their seventh year at Hogwarts, the trio separated. While Hermione returned to Hogwarts to complete her seventh year, Ron and Harry decided not to because they were too focused on accomplishing their dream, which was to become Aurors, and they did. It was a no-brainer that the pair would fulfill their dream.

11 Harry And Dudley's relationship

Harry, as an adult, also made some other changes to his life. As a father too, we could only assume that Harry wanted to be a mature adult and make peace with things that needed to be mended. One of those things was his relationship with Dudley, in which Harry decided to move things a little forward ― hey, it's all baby steps. Rowling said about their relationship: "Harry and Dudley would still see each other enough to be on Christmas-card terms, but they would visit more out of a sense of duty and sit in silence so that their children could see their cousins."

10 Harry Defending Snape

via Pinterest

Harry had to make a couple things clear, and do the better good, and one of these things was to clear the air about Severus Snape. After Voldemort's passing, Harry makes way to the Headmaster's office, and lo and behold, Snape's portrait was not hung. Why? He was believed to be a supporter of Lord Voldemort. Though the absence of the portrait was intentional, Rowling said: "I like to think that Harry would be instrumental in ensuring that Snape's portrait would appear there in due course. Harry would ensure that Snape's heroism was known."

9 No More Snake Hissing

Since Harry lost his ability to speak to snakes, you think he could pass it on to us? Harry had the unique ability to speak Parseltongue, however, the last time he ever spoke in Parseltongue was when the Horcrux inside him was destroyed by Ron in The Deathly Hallows. His ability to speak to snakes was forever taken away when Voldemort was destroyed, and he surely was a joyful Harry Potter to have gotten rid of it.

8 Luna And Love

via 2017 Rising Liter

Every book series and movie need to have a character that is a little stranger than the others, and in the Harry Potter world, it happened to be Luna Lovegood. We've seen some weird stuff happen in the wizarding world, but Luna was a quirky oddball who was a little hard to digest. We thought she would end up with Neville, but instead, she exchanged vows with Rolf Scamander, who is known as the grandson of naturalist Newt Scamander. Luna then popped out two babies at once, giving birth to sons Lorcan and Lysander. Hey, things worked out for her after all!

7 Bill And Fleur’s Victory

Seems like there was an epidemic amongst the Harry Potter character’s when they became adults; they almost all had children. To make a cute family portrait Bill and Fleur Weasley had three children with the names Victoire, Louis, and Dominique. Victoire, because she was born on the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, was given that name as it is French for victory; they just had to honour their win. Not much is known about the children, except that Dominique is part veela and Louis is the only male with veela blood. So many children, so little time.

6 Dolores Umbridge Got Caught Pink-Handed

via Screen Rant

Dolores Umbridge showed up in Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix as if it was Halloween night. Just when we thought we could not have hated anyone more than Lord Voldemort, this evil witch decided to make an entrance ― she did not fool us with her prim and proper clothing and her love for pink ― actually, she did for a little. However, her cruelty shined through when she forced Harry to write with a Black Quill and then when she was right under the loathed Voldemort. She did not get away with her antics too long, as she was quickly arrested, interrogated, and then imprisoned for her crimes.

5 Hermione’s Title

It certainly paid off for Hermione to be the only one of the trio who returned to Hogwarts to complete their seventh year, and she certainly deserved her spot at the top. Thankfully for the active wizarding world, it was never very lonely at the top. However, with Hermione's perseverance and intelligence, we were not surprised to find out she became a high-ranking official in the Department Magical Law Enforcement. After all, she was the one in the trio that always resolved the mysteries and used her spells wisely. We would certainly bow down Hermione.

4 Draco Slipped Away And Got Married

via pinterest

Unlike Dolores, some Harry Potter characters were able to avoid prison sentences at the Azkaban Prison, and three of those were Draco Malfoy and his parents Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy. We do not know who let them slide after the Battle of Hogwarts, but the angel on our shoulder is upset. Also, Draco happened to be one of the other characters that Harry made slight peace with ― not enough to be buddies though. Draco went on to marry Astoria Greengrass, the younger sister of Daphne, and together they had one son named Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy.

3 Good Ol’ Professor Hagrid

via My Tiny Obsessions

We are so thankful to know that the most beloved and gentle professor Rubeus Hagrid did not quit the wizarding world despite all the chaos. With the information given, we know that Hagrid was still working at Hogwarts by 2017, which would have made him an 88-year-old professor. What is even more adoring, is that in the epilogue, we found out that Hagrid invited Harry and Ginny's son for tea, and any avid Harry Potter fan would remember Hagrid did the same for Harry when he started off at Hogwarts.

2 There Was No Saving Alice And Frank

via Pottermore

Seems like Rowling did not make all her characters catch a break; some of them had to deal with the grave circumstances of living in a magical world full of wizards and evil. Two characters who did not get the fairytale ending we hoped they would, were Alice and Frank Longbottom; they did not get back up on their feet and made a life for themselves in St. Mungos. To back up why, Rowling explained, "I know people really wanted some hope for that, and I can quite see why because, in a way, what happens to Neville's parents is even worse than what happened to Harry's parents. The damage that is done, in some cases with very dark magic, is done permanently."

1 Harry Could Have Saved His Parents

via Bustle
advertising

Though Harry was the hero in the wizarding world, he was not when it came to his parents' destiny. If you recall, Harry had the chance to save his parents, and though we thought he would, the cruel murders took place. In the most recent Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, we get a flashback from Delphini to the night Harry's parents were ruined by Voldemort. Ron, Ginny, and Draco all went back in time with Harry, and that is when Harry disguised himself through magic as Voldemort to make Delphini stop. However, before Harry went back in time, he watched Voldemort destroy his parents from a distance, so must have painful.
