15 Celebrity Men Who Married Their Mistresses

We all know that sometimes love simply does not stand the test of time. So many people fall in love and promise to be devoted to one another forever, but ultimately they meet their demise in a fashion they would never have foreseen. While cheating and infidelity run the gamut in our culture, celebrities are known to do their fair share of dirt. It's one thing to step out on your significant other and sample the goods elsewhere; it's quite another to fall in love with that person and commit to them in the very same manner you have already previously with your spouse.

It is no real surprise, and probably of even less consequence, that many celebrities publicly take part in this practice. With so many gorgeous, vivacious individuals within close proximity, certain connections are sparked and the rest is history. Even if one or both people happen to be in committed relationships or marriages, this doesn't stop some from taking a leap on the person who has suddenly captured their attention. So maybe the dreaded “other woman” does get to have her cake and eat it too. Perhaps the illustrious life of high profile glitz, glam, and money does sometimes foster and promote the type of drama and scandals we're accustomed to seeing in the movies. These celebrity relationships may have started off shrouded in controversy, but who's to say it wasn't worth it in the end? Certainly, the people involved in them all thought it was worth it at the time. Here are 15 celebrity men who married their mistresses.

15 Danny Moder and Julia Roberts

Even though Danny Moder was a mere cameraman before he somehow snagged the attention of Julia Roberts, her celebrity presence all by herself is enough to land him on this list. Moder was married while he was working on the set of her film The Mexican. Interestingly enough, Roberts was also in a relationship at the time with actor Benjamin Bratt. They started dating and once Moder's divorce was finalized, they became married shortly after. They have three children together and have been married since 2002. Despite the fact that both of them were involved with other people when they met, they seem to be making it work. At least, in the Hollywood sense, as their union has lasted significantly longer than most celebrity marriages seem to.

14 Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez

This couple was a compelling duo given the men that J.Lo had previously been involved with. Marc seemed like a far cry from the likes of Ben Affleck and P. Diddy, though he enjoyed a particular type of success all his own. The pair were said to have been friends before they became romantically involved and while that sounds like a storybook beginning, when they did start transitioning their relationship, Marc was still married. That's right, the gorgeous phenom that is "Jenny from the block" was technically a mistress. What's more is that their whirlwind romance culminated in them getting hitched only one week after his divorce from then-wife, Dayanara Torres. Marc and J.Lo were married for ten years and had two children before they split in 2014.

13 Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall

That's right, "Mr. Casablanca" himself was guilty of stepping out on his wife. The famous classic actor met his counterpart and soon-to-be wife, while they were filming the movie, To Have and Have Not. He was 26 years her senior. But that didn't stop the two from hitting it off immediately. Besides the age gap, what made their connection so eyebrow-raising was that Bogart was married. After filming for the movie completed, he filed for divorce from his then wife and Bogart and Bacall were married just three months after it was finalized. Though they did have their differences, as every married couple does, they remained together until his death in 1957.

12 Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith

Antonio and Melanie, like most of the entries on this list, met on the set of a movie that they filmed together, which makes sense, if you think about it. Unfortunately, they were both married at the time. But it seems that some cannot change or impede love and the connection that is established with immediacy. They were soon divorced from their respective spouses and married. Despite the fact that many people didn't understand this coupling, as they were a bit odd from the outside looking in, they were married for 20 years but did finally divorce in 2015. So their love, while it didn't last forever, outlasted their prior unions by quite a bit.

11 Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen

The problem with Hollywood is that there are so many options, and most of the options are various degrees of stunning. But honestly, who can compete with a supermodel? It's almost as if Tom Brady's girlfriend, the actress Bridget Moynahan, didn't stand a chance when Gisele Bundchen came into the picture. Brady and Moynahan had been together for a couple of years and she was pregnant with their first child. Enter Gisele and all bets were most certainly off. Brady promptly left Moynahan, who was in the last trimester of her pregnancy. Yeah, brutal. Gisele and Tom have been married since 2009 and have two children together so we guess that one pretty much worked out for him.

10 Kevin Federline and Britney Spears

Although Federline isn't what we would call an  actual celebrity (do backup dancers really count?), he managed to snag Britney, and that deserves a bit of praise, if nothing else. However, these two didn't necessarily have the simplest of beginnings when it comes to other entanglements. K-Fed, who was Britney's backup dancer at the time, was involved with an actress named Shar Jackson. Here's the kicker- Jackson was pregnant with Federline's child when the two of them were seen gallivanting around the world, constantly on vacation. Spears and Federline were married for three years and had two sons together. In the strangest turn off them all from this story, Federline now has primary custody of their children due to Britney's on and off-again erratic behavior.

9 Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert

Though these two have recently decided to call it quits, their start was nothing short of eyebrow-raising when you take a look at the timeline. Blake was very much married to his high school sweetheart and then manager Kaynette Williams around the time that he and Miranda started becoming involved. The kicker is that the first time the two were publicly seen together was on the stage of a CMT awards show where they sang a classic country duet “You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma.” Blake went on the record, after he and Miranda were married, by saying that he fell in love with her on that stage. However, he was still a married man. Blake and Miranda's marriage lasted a mere four years as they divorced in 2015.

8 Eddie Cibrian and Leann Rimes

In a highly publicized and drama filled scenario, actor Eddie Cibrian, known for his demure good looks and dimpled smile, split with his wife Brandi Glanville after nearly a decade of marriage in 2010. Eddie and Leann met on the set of a movie and reportedly fell in love. Both left their respective spouses and married each other the very next year. Brandi, a current cast member on the reality television show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, has been continuously vocal about her feelings regarding the end of her marriage and her ex's new wife. Eddie and Brandi have two sons together and reports continue to assert how ineffective co-parenting and stepparenting seem to be for all of those involved.

7 Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union

Dwyane Wade is no stranger to the critics. As a professional basketball player, sports critics and ardent fans have an opinion on most things but when he and actress Gabrielle Union became involved, his life took on a level of public ridicule he wasn't necessarily accustomed to. This is, in part, due to the fact that Dwyane was still legally married to his estranged wife, Siohvaughn Funches. The basketball star ended up going to court to settle not only the divorce but the custody of his young sons. Ultimately, he came off the victor, freshly divorced and sole custodian of his two boys. He and Gabrielle married soon after. But it appears Wade may have a penchant for extramarital affairs as he fathered a son with a different woman right before saying “I do” to Union. Wade and Union have been married for two years.

6 Billy Crudup and Claire Danes

Now, in some of these situations, there are likely details and circumstances that we aren't privy to. But that doesn't stop some of the information that we do have from painting a picture that starts to look negative or bleak at most. Actor Billy Crudup was in a long-term relationship with actress Mary-Louise Parker, of Fried Green Tomatoes and Weeds fame, who became pregnant with their son. While Crudup was working on a specific project, he and costar Claire Danes became very close and as a result started having an affair. Billy left his seven months pregnant, longtime girlfriend Parker for Danes. Although Crudup and Danes were never married, they remained together for quite some time.

5 Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling

As many of these entanglements go, the platform of storytelling in the form of visual arts is often the place where two celebrities find their common ground. Whether they are fake falling in love or sworn enemies, sometimes chemistry shows up in those close parameters. With these two, it happened just like that. Dean had been married to his then wife, Mary Jo Eustace, for thirteen years when he started filming a movie with Tori. The two have admitted that their affair began the very night they first met. The two were married in 2006 and have four children together during their ten year marriage. Despite public claims that McDermott has been unfaithful to her, they remain together.

4 Jerry O'Connell and Rebecca Romijn

Jerry was publicly involved with television personality Giuliana Rancic for a couple of years when he met Romijn. In a tell-all book Rancic revealed that her then boyfriend O'Connell did, in fact, ditch her at a party to talk to Romijn. Rancic went so far as to say he was acting very inappropriately for someone who was already in a committed relationship and that the knowledge of these actions deeply hurt her. While she didn't go into too much detail, she does admit that he cheated on her. O'Connell and Romijn were married three years later. The two have twin daughters together and have been married for almost a decade.

3 Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys

via olisa.tv

This famed producer and R&B darling have been an item for over six years now. But the start of their relationship wasn't exactly smooth. He was married to another musician, Mashonda Tifrere, when they began seeing one another. He also had three other children by two different women. Tifrere has been very public about how hard and hurtful it was to see her husband and new girlfriend in the press when she was under the impression they were working on their relationship and trying to get through a rough patch. Swizz filed for divorce and Keys became pregnant with his fourth child and her first. They were married in 2010 and have been together ever since. Keys has gone on record recently as saying her and Mashonda do get along and that they are a cohesive "blended" family.

2 Johnny Depp and Amber Heard

These two have been in the spotlight lately due to Heard's pointed claims that Depp abused her during their short 15-month marriage. But that's only the most recent part of their story. Depp was previously involved with a French actress by the name of Vanessa Paradis for 14 years; they have two children together. But soon after their quickie wedding, Depp admitted that on the set of a movie they did together, Heard left quite an impression on him. They were married the evening of the first day of press for the film. After what seems like a tumultuous and short-lived marriage, now the public tries to ascertain if Depp has the capacity for not just infidelity, but for abuse as well.

1 Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Deemed American royalty by many, this stunning, talented and philanthropic couple had a riveting start. When they met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Pitt and Aniston seemed like the quintessential, even-keeled Hollywood couple; until Aniston filed for divorce. Not long after that, Brad and Angelina were seen together quite frequently. Paparazzi caught them together often and soon after his divorce was finalized, it became apparent the two were a dangerous item. Pitt went so far as to legally adopt Jolie's son Maddox, and daughter Zahara, who they adopted together. The pair has been together since 2005; they were married in 2014 and have six children.
