10 Hot Celebrities You Forgot Were Nerds

Hollywood is a magical place where all manner of beautiful creatures roam the Hollywood hills, the star-studded pavements and the beaches. With such a magnificent landscape and history, and so many dreaming to make it there, it is understandable that only the most beautiful people find true success. The standards of Hollywood are so high that even the perceived less-attractive people are, in actuality, jaw-dropping, horn-honking gorgeous.

I’m sure everyone has noticed that when it comes to TV and film, the so-called ugly and/or unpopular characters are all eye-catching, chiseled, models cleverly disguised with some slacks and a set of braces. It can be a little infuriating.

You may take to imdb.com one day in search of some dirt on that too hot superstar your boyfriend/girlfriend is in love with, only to find that not only are they beautiful and buff, they also graduated from an ivy league school and raise funds for blood transfusions for feral cats or something.

For those of us living in the real world, we have few wins in life. We must take pride in the academic failure of hot people and the social failure of smart people. No one gets it all. This is God’s way of evening out the playing field.

Hollywood however has it’s own rules. That is why it is with great ease that we can create a list of smart, nerdy people that are really, really hot. Get ready for some eye candy.

10 Seth MacFarlane - Fine Arts Grad

Via www.moviezine.se

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane is a hilarious guy with a huge catalog of successful films and television series under his belt. The sixth season of Family Guy started with an hour-long Star Wars spoof called Blue Harvest. Couple this with the Flash Gordon homages in Ted and Ted 2 and we get the idea that MacFarlane is a little on the nerdy side. However his suave jazz-influenced vocals, snappy dressing and beautiful smile make him a real fine looking nerd.

MacFarlane holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts and is an accomplished animator, voice actor, writer, producer, filmmaker and musician. Funny, smart and good looking - some people just get it all.

9 Tyra Banks - Harvard Business School

“Wanna be on top?” Obviously America’s Next Top Model presenter Tyra Banks did! She got noticed for her stunning beauty at just 15 years old and went on to become a hugely successful model gracing the cover of GQ and Sports Illustrated. So you would assume that she probably had no time for education right? Actually, Tyra was an honor student and her thirst for knowledge led her to enroll and later graduate from Harvard business school. Some of her other credentials include singing, writing, producing and presenting.

8 James Franco - The Poet

Aesthetically, James Franco is attractive enough that if he couldn’t change your light bulb for you, you would probably find it in your heart to forgive him. Fortunately for him though, it seems he has more brains, brawn and beauty than he can find the time to use.

Franco found commercial success as an actor but since then has taken his hand to directing, making music and also writing a novel or two. Even with all of the above, he still managed to squeeze in a little education at UCLA, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.

7 Michael Cera - The Underdog

Canadian actor Michael Cera may hide behind a dorky image but he’s no wallflower. The 27-year-old Cera has made a whole load of money from perfecting the awkward, soft-spoken teen in movies such as Juno, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist and Superbad.

He recently played a laughing stock of a lawyer in Netflix’s’ reboot of Wet Hot American Summer. Again, he profited on his ability to play the underdog.

Still, he must just be posing as a geek for those pay checks because I’m pretty sure if he was in your high school, you’d be passing him some notes.

6 John Legend - English Grad

How many times have you drunkenly poured out your heart and off-key vocals to Ordinary People and/or All of Me? Probably more times than you remember, because you were wasted. But you probably didn’t forget that the man who felt your pain was none other than John Legend.

We all know him for his fabulous face, beautiful songs and even more beautiful wife. What you may not know is that the sultry singer is also a bit of a brain. Legend has it that Legend was offered admission to a whole host of universities, including Harvard after he graduated from high school. He chose to attend the University of Pennsylvania and graduated with a bachelor's degree in English. Since then, he has used his linguistic talent to steal all of our hearts. Sniff.

5 Kendrick Lamar - 'A' Student

Kendrick was recently the first musical guest to grace the stage of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and he was mind-blowing! Kendrick Lamar has been taking over the charts with his current album To Pimp a Butterfly. His performance at the BET awards atop a LAPD car along with his persona and lyrics have solidified him as a rap icon.

We often associate credibility in the Rap genre with attitude, something Kendrick has in spades. But what makes this hottie such a brain is his musical and lyrical ability. Kendrick was a straight 'A' student in school and this intelligence is audible in his music. Kendrick mixes a variety of musical influences into his albums and consistently makes poetic, introspective and elaborate points regarding society and culture in his lyrics.

4 Marilyn Monroe - Smarter Than You Think

The iconic Marilyn Monroe spent her career profiting off the stereotype of the dumb blonde with movies such as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and The Seven Year Itch. From her diaries, interviews and love of reading we know that this stereotype was far from true regarding Marilyn herself.

It must have been very difficult for a woman as intelligent as Monroe to have to dumb herself down to achieve success. Her marriage to the famous playwright Arthur Miller unfortunately seemed to only distract her further from her own intelligence.

3 Lupita Nyong’o - Fluent In Four Languages

Thirty-two-year-old Lupita Nyong’o started out her film career as part of the production crew but she was soon inspired to pursue acting. Upon being noticed by Hollywood, she was named The Most Beautiful Woman by People Magazine in 2014 and we can all see why. But Lupita is much more than just a pretty face. Along with her beauty and exceptional acting talent, seen in her breakthrough role in 12 Years A Slave, she also earned two degrees in university. Lupita is also fluent in four languages.

Lupita will be getting geeky as part of her role in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, set for release this year.

2 Emma Watson - Oxford Educated

Self professed nerd Emma Watson claimed, “It sounds so geeky, but I really do like studying and reading, and if I'm not working on 'Harry Potter,' then my greatest relaxation is to sit with a book.”

When we first met little Emma Watson on the train to Hogwarts she was playing the role of the know-it-all sidekick to Harry Potter, Hermione Granger. Lets face it, we could all see that she had a lot more natural ability than her other two co-stars. She really owned the role.

As the bushy-haired Hermione grew into Ron Weasley’s crush, so too did Emma Watson grow into a graceful beauty. Watson, however, didn’t choose to focus solely on the external, she pursued an education at Brown and Oxford universities no less.

1 Edward Norton - Intelligence Runs In The Family

Edward Norton is an exceptionally talented actor known for his role in Fight Club and American History X. He consistently chooses to play complex characters, and how expertly he performs them indicates that he is a very introspective person with an understanding of many different personalities and lifestyle choices.

Maybe this has something to do with the fact that he is a pretty smart guy all around. The 46-year-old actor is the son of a lawyer and a teacher. He also attended Yale University. Hold me back!
