10 Celebrities Who Should Run For President

The current and 44th President of the United States is Barack Obama. He is nearing the end of his second term. With his second term coming to an end, many political figures, such as Hilary Clinton, Jeb Bush and Bernie Sanders, have announced their bid to run. The President of the United States is the head of state and government in America. The President is the leader of a superpower, has a vast nuclear arsenal and is commander-in-chief to the United States Armed forces. The President is also the leader of the nation with one of the largest economies. Perhaps, that is why so many people get nervous when a celebrity announces their intention to run for President.

Many celebrities have hinted or alluded to the possibility of them running for President. Recently, Real Estate Mogul and former reality TV show host Donald Trump announced his intention to run for President as a Republican in 2016. He’s not the only celeb running for President. Stand up comedian and actress Roseanne Barr is also running for President on the Peace and Freedom Party. This will actually be her second attempt after running in 2012. They wouldn’t be the first celebrities to run. Former President Ronald Reagan had a short career as an actor in the late 30s.

Hollywood celebrities are some of the most influential people in the world. That got us thinking and wondering about some other celebs that should also consider running for President some day. Here is a look at 10 Celebrities who should run of President.

10 Alec Baldwin

9 Jesse Ventura

8 George Clooney

7 Ellen DeGeneres

6 Arnold Schwarzenegger

5 Tina Fey

It might seem like a joke but the hilarious Tina Fey could possibly make a great President. She had her big breakthrough as a cast member/writer of the hit sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live. She would go on to become the first female head writer on SNL. She received universal praise for her time as co-anchor on the SNL sketch, Weekend Update. After leaving SNL, she created and starred in the NBC sitcom 30 Rock. She co-created the Netflix Series, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. She’s also starred in films such as Means Girls, Baby Mama and Date Night. She received critical acclaim for her impression of 2008 Vice-President candidate Sarah Palin. She won the AP Entertainer of The Year for her impression. She has appeared on Forbes 100 list of the 100 most powerful celebrities. She is heavily involved with charities involving autism. She supports Mercy Corps and their bid to end world hunger. Not only would she make a great leader, but she’d also be a very entertaining president.

4 Stephen Colbert

3 Angelina Jolie

2 Jon Stewart

Some may consider George W. Bush the funniest President of all time. However, apparently he wasn’t being funny on purpose. If Jon Stewart ran he would probably be the funniest President. Jon Stewart is a comedian and TV host best known for his time hosting The Daily Show. The Daily Show is a satirical news program that deals with news of the day and pokes fun at the media. The show is critically acclaimed and has won 18 Emmy Awards. The series also won two Peabody Awards for its coverage of the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections. He’s been highly critical of MSNBC and FOX News. In 2005, he was on the Time 100 Most Influential People. He clearly knows what he’s talking about and has the support of the people (not just pot smokers watching his show at midnight). It’s been noted that much of the younger generation gets their news information from him. Jon Stewart is leaving The Daily Show in 2015, maybe one day he'll consider running.

1 Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey is widely regarded as the most powerful and influential woman in the world. She is best known for her time as the host of The Oprah Winfrey Show, from 1986 to 2011. She publishes her own magazine known as O, The Oprah Magazine and launched the TV channel, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. She also appeared in the Steven Spielberg Film The Color Purple. She is one of the most respected and beloved celebrities of all time. She came from poverty and climbed her way to becoming one of the richest people in the world. CNN named her the Most Powerful Woman and Time named her one of the Most Influential People. Life Magazine named her the Most Influential Woman and Black Person. She is credited with bringing in a large amount of votes for President Obama for his two campaigns. Obama was the first presidential candidate that she endorsed. It’s estimated that she was responsible for bringing in nearly one million votes. If she could do that for someone else, just imagine what kind of support she would have if she ran for President. Also, imagine the gifts she’d give out at her inauguration speech.
