With an estimated fortune of £300 million between them, the divorce of Madonna and her film-director husband Guy Ritchie could have been one of the most expensive ever, but Madonna's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg said Ritchie received "only" between £49 million and £60 million in cash and property.
Bernie and Slavica Ecclestone
Slavica Ecclestone, the wife of Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone, filed for divorce in early 2008 and was granted a 'quickie' divorce several months later. The Ecclestones are reputed to be worth £3 billion meaning that this case may see the highest award to a wife in legal history.
Phil Collins has reportedly paid his ex-wife £25 million in a divorce settlement. The Genesis front man announced his split from third wife Orianna Cevey, 35, in 2006. It's not the first expensive divorce for Collins, who had already handed his second wife Jill Tavelman £17 million.

It's not the most expensive divorce settlement on the record books, but Heather Mills has expressed her delight with her settlement of £24.3 million following her divorce from Sir Paul McCartney.
