You would think having famous parents means having a great life. There’s the money and connections. Plus, famous kids probably get to do cool things that regular kids don’t get to do, like walk the red carpet, and go to premiers as well as other events. Sure, there’s the paparazzi and it’s probably hard to get through going out to dinner without someone coming to the table and asking to take a picture with your mom or dad, but overall being the child of a celebrity can’t exactly be too harsh a way to grow up.
There have been lots of children of celebrities who have used their family connections and name wisely to establish their own careers. Take Angelina Jolie, who is Jon Voight’s daughter, for example. Ben Stiller’s parents are famed comedic duo Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara. Actress Mamie Gummer is the daughter of Meryl Streep. Zoe Kravitz, who is the daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet has a thriving acting career.
But, not everyone takes advantage of what gifts they’ve been given. Many children of celebs feel an incredible amount of pressure to be as successful as their parents are, which is understandable. Some try and simply don’t succeed, so they keep trying. But others go down a far darker road, succumbing to drug and alcohol addiction or even worse. Here are ten children of celebrities who have simply been crushed by their family’s fame. Sadly, some are no longer with us or others are homeless, on welfare or even in prison.
10 Bobbi Kristina Brown
With parents like Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, did Bobbi Kristina Brown ever really have a shot at normality? Sadly, she is currently on life support and there are rumors her organs are shutting down. On January 31st, she was found unconscious in a bathtub, a situation that tragically mirrors her own mother’s death in 2012. Sadly, before this incident, Brown’s last Tweet was “miss you mommy ..:') SO much.. loving you more every sec.” While her parents were very talented, Bobbi Kristina hasn't pursued a career in entertainment. Despite her lack of ambition, she was reportedly very upset she wasn’t cast in her mother’s biopic on Lifetime. When director Angela Bassett was asked why she didn’t cast Brown, she said, “for a number of reasons ... she's not an actress and acting is a craft.”

8 Christian Brando
Christian Brando, son of legendary actor Marlon Brando, hasn’t had an easy life. His parents divorced when he was a toddler and his mother, actress Anna Kashfi, was awarded custody of him. But, a judge ultimately removed him from the home when it was discovered Kashfi was addicted to drugs and alcohol, as well as had issues with anger. Sadly, Christian later became a drug addict and alcoholic himself. In 1990, he shot and killed his sister Cheyenne’s abusive boyfriend, Dag Drollet. He ended up spending five years in prison. Towards the end of his life, Brando's son lived in a one-bedroom apartment and was on welfare. In 2008, he died of pneumonia.

He also was famously responsible for a boating accident which resulted in the death his good friend Gian-Carlo Coppola, the son of famed director Francis Ford Coppola.
4 Cameron Douglas
While his father, Michael Douglas has been one of the most successful actors in the world, following in the footsteps of his father, Kirk Douglas, the same cannot be said for Michael’s son Cameron. While his father attends red carpet events and lives in lavish homes, Cameron Douglas lives in “the big house,” serving time in prison for selling heroin out of his Manhattan hotel room. Michael Douglas has tried his best to be empathetic towards his son, saying “I have some idea of the pressure of finding your own identity with a famous father. I'm not sure I can comprehend it with two generations to deal with.” Cameron Douglas is scheduled to be released from Pennsylvania Cumberland Federal Corrections Institute in March 2017.
3 Jess Brolin
Jess Brolin is the son of actor James Brolin, and the stepson of the legendary Barbra Streisand. In October 2014, it was reported he was homeless and living on the streets of Ojai, California. Pictures of him also showed he was morbidly obese and picking through garbage. When his mother died in 1995, he received a six-figure trust fund, but reportedly spent it entirely. A spokesperson for the Brolin family issued a statement, “We have offered help and support and we continue to do so. We love him very much and only want what is best for him.”
2 Jennifer Elliot
Denholm Elliot was a famous British actor best known for co-starring with Michael Caine in the classic film, Alfie. He died a tragic death of AIDS-related tuberculosis in 1992. While Elliot was openly bisexual, he was married to actress Susan Robinson for thirty years. They had a daughter Jennifer, who was addicted to drugs, mainly heroin and living on the streets, working as a prostitute. When an article written by Paul McMullan in the tabloid, The News of The World exposed her secret life, Jennifer just couldn’t go on anymore and hanged herself in 2003. She was only 39 years old.
1 Michael Blosil
Michael Blosil was the son of entertainer Marie Osmond and record producer Brian Blosil. He committed suicide in 2010, by jumping from his eighth floor apartment in Los Angeles, where he was a fashion student at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. He was only 18 years old. Two years earlier, he entered rehab for drug addiction and depression. After rehab, it appeared Michael was doing well. His mother told People, "Those kinds of things are really very hard for a teenager to deal with. And if he ever wants to talk about it ... he will, but it has to be their choice. It's not my choice.” Unfortunately, his choice cost Blosil his life.
