Kanye West began his journey in Hollywood by working for Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records, and his unique beats made him an in-demand producer. Adidas Yeezy Boost 950M Duckboot Chocolate ($1,700)

 

Yeezy Season 1 arrived in October 2015, and along with it came a unique pair of sneakers designed by Kanye West. A rare combination of a military and duck boot, the 950 M was created with ballistic mesh, suede, and rubber, all in the same shade of chocolate brown. The monochromatic shoes were made in limited numbers.

Adidas Yeezy Boost 750 Grey/Gum ($2,500)

 

The hype was real when Kanye West dropped his Adidas Yeezy Boost 70 in the Grey/Gum colorway in June 2016. According to GQ, West designed the shoes with Earth tones, and the kicks have a grey suede body with gum soles that glow in the dark. The unique silhouette Yeezys retailed at $350 during its release but is five times more expensive now.

Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 MoonRock ($3,330)

 

One of the last colorways released for the Boost 350 during the Yeezy seasons era apparel, the first images of the sneakers were not released through a public announcement but were seen on West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s Instagram post. Created in shades of agate grey and moonrock, the colorway was only available in stores that sold Yeezy Season One apparel exclusively.

Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Pirate Black ($3,400)

 

The Boost 350 in Pirate Black was first released in 2015, and after a strong response, a restocked edition hit the stores a year later. The original designs had upper halves made from PrimeKnit with a blacked-out body and visible red stitching. Much to the fans’ delight, Adidas announced that the colorway will return for retail purchase in 2023.

Nike Air Yeezy 1 Zen Grey ($5,000)

 

Released in 2009 during the lucrative relationship between Kanye West and Nike, the Yeezy 1 was the first collection dropped. The shoes were futuristic during their release, and the vamp had a strap running over it. West used a combination of suede and leather with the iconic Nike swoosh and YEEZY printed at the heel strap, as noted by HypeBeast.

Nike Air Yeezy 2 NRG Solar Red/Black ($6,000)

 

Three years after the success of Yeezy 1, Kanye West launched Yeezy 2 in 2012. Available in solar red and black shades, the new model had a refined structure with an anaconda textured side panel, molded rubber heel, and references to Egyptology. Similar to the previous collection, the NRG also came with a glow-in-the-dark sole.

Nike Air Yeezy 2 NRG Wolf Grey/ Pure Platinum ($9,100)

A unique structure that dabbles between fashion and sports, the Yeezy 3 NRG in the grey shades came with a molded heel and large ridges to elevate the design. Launched in 2012, the sneakers had a subdued outlook with a snakeskin texture and a contrasting popping red color on the collar of the body.

Nike Air Yeezy 1 in Net Tan ($10,000)

 

Released alongside the Yeezy 1 in Zen Grey, the Net was the last colorway released. As mentioned by Goat, standing true to its name, the shoe came with a beige leather upper body and a contrasting off-white leather strap. The two-tone midsole was a borrowed design by the Air Jordan 3 collection. The black suede toe wrap has the word Y printed with a glossy finish.

Nike Air Yeezy 2 SP Red October – ($11,400)

 

The Nike Air Yeezy 2 SP Red October marked the last collaboration between Kanye West and Nike before he moved over to Adidas. The rapper was often seen wearing the sneakers, most notably during his 2013 SNL performance. After a long wait, the Red October colorway was released, but only 50 units were produced and sold, making them his rarest designed shoes ever.

Grammy Worn Nike Air Yeezy 1 Prototypes ($1.8 million)

 

Michael Jordan set the record in 2020 by auctioning his 1985 Air Jordans at Christie’s for a bid of $615,000. West’s Nike Air Yeezy 1 Prototype sneakers worn during the 2008 Grammy performance went up for auction at Sotheby’s and were purchased for $1.8 million, as stated by The Guardian. The all-black sneakers were acquired by a sneaker investment marketplace Rares.

Other expensive Yeezys include Adidas Yeezy Boost 750 OG, Adidas Yeezy 500, and Yeezy Foam Runner. Through his working relationship with Adidas, Kanye West has created futuristic designs that have given the tough competition in the sneaker world, as Yeezys have become a high-end commodity everywhere.
