Watches have been Lebron James’s favorites. Now, the NBA superstar is the newest celebrity endorser of Audemars Piguet for its limited edition watch.
The collection called the “Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Limited Edition LeBron James” is a gold and gray watch designed by Lebron and costs $51,500. The less massive 48mm wide watch comes with a case that is made from 18k pink gold and titanium matched to a gray crocodile strap. Inside is an Audemars Piguet caliber 3126/3840 automatic chronograph with 22k gold rotor, visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. For die-hard Lebron fans, completing the design is the NBA player’s signature.
It is similar to the limited edition model that was made for Arnold Schwarzenegger called the “Royal Oak Offshore Arnold Schwarzenegger The Legacy.”
The brand has chosen Lebron as an individual who exudes “style, talent and sophistication.”
“He [LeBron] is truly a unique person,” said Audemars Piguet CEO François-Henry Bennahmias.
“When we met for the first time there was a good connection and we knew that we would do something together. The LeBron James brand is built around basketball. If I’m doing what I need to do on the basketball floor at a high level everything else takes care of itself,” he added.
The Swiss watchmaker has also collaborated with basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal and PGA golfer Keegan Bradley.
“I always liked watches growing up. When the opportunity presented itself it was easy to say yes,” James, who is an avid watch collector, told CNBC.
“Anytime I do anything or have a partnership with anyone that has my name on it, I like to have a lot of personal trace in it,” he added.
The two-time MVP and Miami Heat player also has endorsement deals with Nike, Coca-Cola, Samsung and McDonald’s.
