Last year, it was reported that Rita Ora and Taika Waititi had married in a secret ceremony. But only recently did the pop star flash her engagement ring during an appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
During the interview, Rita admitted she hasn’t publicly shown off her ring until now, but she felt this was the perfect opportunity.
“Because I love you and I feel like you’re a part of our relationship, weirdly, because we watch you every night, I just felt like I’ll show you it,” she explained.
Raising her hand for the camera, Rita flashed the massive emerald, which is set in a diamond-pavé bezel. “He did good,” she said.
When asked how her now-husband chose the unusual ring, Rita explained, “I just think, like, when you know what you want and I felt like I really knew that I wanted to be with this person, I just wanted it to feel really right. “
She added, “I may have taken him to the shop and I may have pointed out exactly what ring I wanted.”
The singer didn’t elaborate on how much the ring is worth, but reports suggest that it easily cost her husband half a million.
Ring specialist Jessica Flinn-Allen estimates the ring is easily worth £500,000 pounds (approximately $617,000 USD). “Rita Ora’s engagement ring is approximately 10ct bezel set emerald surrounded by a diamond halo, set into a yellow gold band,” she explained.
“The stone is said to be of Colombian origin, and these stones can be worth around £40,000 ($47,970 USD) per carat, or in some cases up to £100,000 ($119,900 USD) per carat,” the expert continued. “This could mean that Rita’s emerald engagement ring could be valued in the region of half a million pounds.”
“Rita wears her stunning emerald engagement ring with a dainty diamond set wedding band, which compliments her ring perfectly but the emerald remains the star of the show!” Jessica said.
“The ‘emerald cut’ shape is named because it is the traditional cut for Emerald gemstones, bringing out the best features of the stone,” she further added. “This cut is now used for hundreds of other gemstones”
This is the first glimpse fans have gotten of Rita’s ring. Still, there are few details known about Rita and Taika’s marriage, including how they got engaged and when they said ‘I do.’
