The average person checks his or her smartphone 150 times per day. That sounds crazy, right? What it means is that during the time you’re awake, assuming you sleep eight hours per night, you’re checking your smartphone more than ten times per hour.

In 2013, more than 500 million photos per day were shared via smartphones and experts expect that number to double in 2014. That means 1 billion photos per day shared with others, using smartphones. Approximately one-third of those shared photos utilize Snapchat and those are just the ones counted that people share. Imagine how many photos are taken with smartphones and are not shared for one reason or another.

Of course, most of the smartphones taking all those photos are run-of-the-mill smartphones, available through your carrier. In the U.S., Android is the prevalent operating system, followed by iOS. In the United Arab Emirates, Blackberry still rules. In China, the most popular brand of smartphone is Xiaomi, followed by Samsung and Apple.

But what kind of smartphones do wealthy people use? If you’re a millionaire or a billionaire, or if you’re a rock star or celebrity, are you using some off-the-shelf model just like everybody else? Doubtful. That being said, let’s take a gander at the choices available to people with oodles of money.

10. Mobiado Professional 3 AF: $1,600

Located in Vancouver, Mobiado’s latest offering is the luxurious Professional 3 AF, which is billed as the “thinnest luxury phone” available. The device’s frame is composed of aluminum smoothed by means of glass-bead blasting, resulting in an indestructible case. All the buttons and screws are made of stainless steel, serving to hold the sapphire crystal plates in place. The Professional 3 AF arrives unlocked, has a 2.4" QVGA display screen, expandable SD memory, a camera, video, internet gateway, email, music player and Bluetooth 3.0. This phone is available in three color choices: black, black satin and silver.

9. Blackberry Porsche Design P’9982: $2,000

The Porsche Design P’9982 has been available for only three months and since only 500 of the devices are available, locating one might be difficult. The P’9982 is constructed of stainless steel with a satin finish. Wrapped in Italian leather, the P’9982 comes with a modified edition of the Blackberry 10.2 Operating System, while the snazzier Crocodile model is swathed in real Crocodile leather. Both models are all-touch, and described as “Engineered Luxury meets Powered Performance.” The P’9982 is available at Porsche Design outlets and select carriers worldwide, including Harrods in London.

8. Gresso Radical: $2,300

With a solid titanium case, a 4.5 inch Gorilla Glass shielded display and a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, the Gresso Radical is limited to 999 devices. Featuring an 8 megapixel rear camera, 32 GB of internal memory, dual SIM cards and the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system, the Gresso Radical R1 sports a titanium logo; the Radical R2’s logo is made of 18k gold; and the Radical R3 carries a logo composed of 18k white gold. All three models incorporate titanium sensor keys.

7. Tonino Lamborghini Antares: $4,300

The Antares will be available for purchase Spring of 2014, and it’s worth the wait. The Antares is built by Tonino Lamborghini, the sub-brand of Automobili Lamborghini, the same outfit that makes those extravagant two-seater sport cars. Each Antares is stamped with Lamborghini’s raging bull logo. Features include a built-in Yamaha amp and two speakers; two cameras: 13 megapixel on the rear and 5 megapixel on the front; HD video; and a customized version of Google’s 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. 1 GB RAM, 32 GB internal memory and a 32 GB expandable memory complement the 1.5 GHz quad-core processor. The Antares boasts a 4.0 inch touchscreen enclosed by gorilla glass. There’s even a 24k gold-plated limited edition for the fastidious consumer.

6. Vertu Constellation: $5,740

Vertu’s Constellation differs drastically from the Vertu Ti. First, the Constellation is more aesthetically pleasing and slimmer. Second, the Constellation boasts a larger screen; measuring 4.3 inches and the sapphire glass is easy on the eyes. Other differences include the Constellations Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 dual-core Krait CPU, which blazes at 1.7 GHz. The grade 5 titanium case is pillowed in soft, exotic calf leather.

5. TAG Heuer Meridiist: $6,100

TAG Heuer’s Meridiist line of luxury smartphones has stainless steel frames, along with a 60.5 carat sapphire crystal display, which is conveniently scratch-resistant. Optional exclusive touches include alligator wrapping, gold plating and diamonds. The Meridiist smartphone comes with dual SIM slots and features two automatic time zone updates. Battery life ensures seven hours of worry-free talk time and the Meridiist’s well-heeled owners have 24/7 entry to TAG’s concierge support service. This luxury phone is available at TAG Heuer stores and select retailers.

4. Vertu Ti: $9,600

The Vertu Ti takes exclusivity to a whole new level. Each Vertu Ti sports a 3.7 inch sapphire crystal screen ensconced in a titanium case replete with leather accents. Vertu Ti's are 4.0 Android smartphones, utilizing the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. With two cameras; an 8 megapixel on the back and a Skype compatible 1.3 megapixel facing the front, Vertu owners can snap pictures to their hearts’ content. Hand-crafted and numbered sequentially, every Ti has its own unique code and carries the craftsman’s personal signature. Available in Titanium or Sunrise Red or Midnight Blue, Vertu Ti is a sophisticated accessory for the elite.

3. Vertu Ti Ferrari Limited Edition: $16,309

Ferrari’s Limited Edition smartphone utilizes the Vertu Ti as its foundation. Ferrari then adds a grade 5 titanium case with diamond-like carbon coating. The pillow of the smartphone is made of Alutex, along with red and black stitched leather. Alutex is the material used in the cockpits of Ferrari’s amazing automobiles. Of course, Ferrari’s Vertu comes with the prancing horse insignia, adding a customized lock screen and made to order ringtones that sound like a revving twelve-cylinder engine.

2. Savelli Jardin Secret: $118,000

The Savelli Jardin Secret uses eleven different Android models upon which to design its collection of phones for women.
