The breakout star in My Cousin Vinny wasn’t just a one hit-wonder. Today, Marisa Tomei has a net worth of $25 million and has graced the big screen, small screen and theater stage more times than we can count.

Her decades long career has given fans some true talent in a variety of films from Chaplin with Robert Downey Jr. to In the Bedroom.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the Brooklyn-born actress has worked alongside the likes of Matthew McConaughey and Mickey Rourke. She’s portrayed May Parker in the Marvel franchise most recently appeared in The King of Staten Island and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

How does Tomei spend her millions? Check out the many ways she enjoys her New York lifestyle.

Healthy from the Inside Out

The actress recently spoke to The Things about her passion for healthy living and how she deals with the day-to-day, stating what you put in your body is more important than what you’re doing to the exterior. She enjoys the outdoors and the inner peace found by natural elements but she’s also willing to try some unique forms of exercise like dance meditation, belly dancing and hula hooping.

The star often chooses organic and local food for home and prefers simple, high-protein snacks on hand. She also chooses to graze instead of eating large meals throughout the day. Tomei said keeping portions small but continuing to eat throughout the day boosts her energy and is key to not overeating.

Taking Care of Herself

Another way Tomei likes to pamper herself is by infrared saunas and skin brushing, taking advantage of relaxation when possible. She believes skin brushing helps detoxify her body and assist with digestion. Along with detoxing, the Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead star trades that morning coffee for hot water and lemon each morning.

Real Estate Upgrades

Tomei purchased a one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan back in 1994. Once her neighbors moved, she bought their unit and knocked down the wall separating the two. The 57-year-old was able to turn her small apartment into a 2,265 square foot space with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. In 2018, she put the property on the market for $7.5 million but ultimately decided to rent it for $12,000 per month.

Shopping, Shopping, Shopping

Surprisingly, Tomei doesn’t often shop for the top-of-the-line attire or most expensive piece of furniture. Rather, the actress enjoys thrift shopping and flea markets according to Today. She grew up with a mother who enjoyed reupholstering and painting older pieces and that upbringing leads Tomei to sites like eBay and Live Auctioneers for that special find.

Pieces found in her Manhattan living room include 1970’s brass lamps, a pair of 1940’s chairs in the bedroom and carpeting from a recent trip to Morocco. Her Saarinen table is matched with 1940’s French garden chairs in the kitchen. Tomei has said the story behind each piece is what she finds interesting and although she searches for classics and historical pieces, this route isn’t cheap.

New York State of Mind

With what Tomei calls a “huge” family that enjoys gathering and spending time together and an established Broadway career, the actress loves to keep roots in her birthplace. She’s a night owl at heart and enjoys hole-in-the-wall restaurants, bright lights and buzz of the city. Her Broadway credits include The Realistic Joneses, Rocket to the Moon, The Comedy of Errors and How to Transcend a Happy Marriage. Tomei is a founding member of the Naked Angels Theater Company in New York City according to Broadway Buzz.

Lavish Vacations

She recently took a trip to Mexico to “reset” and frequently enjoys the beach but perhaps most of all, Tomei just enjoys nature. With deep Italian roots, the star has visited Tuscany, Cecina and the island of Elba through an extensive research project on her heritage. In fact, Tomei carries dual citizenship, allowing her to travel to Italy often.

Human Rights Activist

The Untamed Heart actress is a staunch human rights supporter and feminist. She’s never been married, has no children and unapologetically explains to those that ask that her identity isn’t wrapped up in societal norms. She regularly shares her strong stance on sexism, equal rights pay and agism in Hollywood.

Her Instagram is full of quotes from world leaders, photos depicting spiritual rituals and support for women all over the world.

The star regularly volunteers time for charity. For example, last year Tomei participated in a live reading with Bobby Cannavale in support of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
