Nowadays, Coachella is just as much about the fashion as it is the music, and festival-goers often put a lot of energy (and money) into their looks. Hailey Bieber may have rocked a very simple outfit during the famous weekend, but the attention was all in the details.
Sharing with her 49.5 million Instagram followers, Hailey shared a series of posts featuring her outfits from the festival. But it was the simplest one that may have cost the most.
In one photo slideshow, the model is rocking a white ribbed tank top with overly baggy jeans and a thick black belt. Most notably, Hailey accessorized with a gold body chain layered under the shirt.
While inconspicuous, the chain costs a small fortune. According to Bustle, the piece was designed by Jacquie Aiche and is solid gold with 38 encrusted diamonds. It retails for $6,000.
This isn’t the only time recently that Hailey made headlines for an expensive accessory. Earlier this month, the model rocked a $10,000 diamond and gold bra harness during a campaign for her Rhodes skincare line, rocking the piece over a floral bikini.
Hailey’s Coachella look may seem too luxurious for a desert music festival, but the event has gotten more expensive over the years, and not just the tickets.
In 2019, it was reported that the average Coachella attendee spends between $200 to $400 on their outfits. With fortunes worth millions at their disposal, it’s to be expected that celebrities would spend much more, as evidenced by Hailey’s choice of accessory.
It's not unheard of for celebrities to wear outfits that cost tens of thousands of dollars to the festival, even though there’s a good chance clothing will get soiled. In 2016, for instance, Kiernan Shipka reportedly spent over $13,000 on her Coachella dresses, despite being only 16-years-old at the time.
Hailey Bieber is no stranger to wearing high-priced outfits. She once wore $20,000 worth of clothing in a single day at Paris Fashion Week.
Just this past January, the model wore $350,000 worth of diamonds with only a bikini, “including a Tiffany Victoria Diamond Vine Necklace ($131,000), Alternating Graduated Necklace ($93,000) and Graduated Line Necklace ($69,000),” Page Six reports.
With this in mind, rocking a $6,000 diamond body chain to Coachella may not seem like a big deal for Hailey.
