Elon Musk has many business ventures to his name, but perhaps the most bizarre is a new line of perfume called “Burnt Hair.” Earlier this month, he revealed the cologne on Twitter. “The finest fragrance on Earth!” the billionaire wrote alongside an image of the red and silver cologne bottle.

He included a link to The Boring Company, which Elon originally formed as a subsidiary of SpaceX before it separated in 2018, which is selling Elon’s new perfume.

The Boring Company says it “creates safe, fast-to-dig, and low-cost transportation, utility, and freight tunnels” and described its mission as to “solve traffic, enable rapid point-to-point transportation and transform cities.”

On its website, The Boring Company described the Bunt Hair perfume as the “essence of repugnant desire.”

“Stand out in a crowd! Get noticed as you walk through the airport,” the website’s description says. “Just like leaning over a candle at the dinner table, but without all the hard work.”

While the Burnt Hair perfume seems like a joke product, customers can buy it. The cologne is listed for $100 USD on the website.

The perfume has been successful so far, Elon claims. According to Entrepreneur, the Tesla founder released a follow-up tweet claiming that 10,000 units had already been sold, equalling $1 million in profits.

Elon also changed his Twitter bio to “perfume salesman,” before tweeting, "Can't wait for media stories tomorrow about $1M of Burnt Hair sold."

It’s speculated that Elon’s new perfume is meant to poke fun at his ongoing controversy with Twitter. Earlier this month, the businessman agreed again to buy Twitter for $44 billion.

Hr originally announced his plans to buy Twitter in April, before backing out of the deal in July, claiming that the social media platform provided him with inaccurate information. Twitter subsequently sued Elon, before he said he’d buy the platform for the original price.

The SpaceX founder has a reputation for releasing gag products. In 2018, The Boring Company released 20,000 limited-edition flame throwers to fun its tunnel-building tests. He also released a Tesla Tequila in response to critics of his car company as well as a pair of Tesla-themed satin shorts (which sold out in minutes).
