This Innovative New Desk Lets You Work While Lying Down

You can now buy a desk that lets you work from a number of different positions, including lying down. It's going to cost you a pretty penny if you want one, though.

The work issues and injuries we deal with in the present day are a lot different to the ones people faced half a century ago. It may not seem like a long time in the grand scheme of things, but the way in which most of us work has changed drastically. The percentage of people performing manual labor as an occupation has dropped significantly over that space of time.

You would think that fewer people performing manual labor and more dangerous jobs would have reduced the number of work-related injuries. For the most part, that is probably true. However, office and desk jobs aren't as safe and cushy as you might think. Sitting all day staring at a screen might sound like a dream come true for some, but it comes with its own risks.

Being sat down all day is no good for your back. You might not feel it right away but trust us, sooner or later it will catch up with you. That's why a number of offices have now provided desks where their employees have to stand. That doesn't sound ideal either if you ask us. What does sound good is a desk at which we can lie down and continue with our work. Thankfully, in this case, that is not too good to be true.

It's called the Altwork Station, and as you can see above, it looks a little like a dentist's chair. Don't worry, though, there's nothing to be scared of when you climb onto this piece of furniture. Well, you might be a little nervous all of the equipment will fall on you during your first use but we assure you it won't. You can adjust the Altwork Station so that you can work in almost any position you like and yes, that does include lying down.

There are only two things currently stopping us from running out and getting our very own Altwork Stations right this second. One is that we wouldn't trust ourselves to not constantly nap if we were working lying down. Two is the price. Altwork Station is going to set you back $8500 if you want one in your life. A lot of money, but it is a pretty cool gadget to have. They are fully customizable too, and if you want one, simply head to Altwork's website by clicking here.
