Nestled in beautiful Asheville, North Carolina, The Biltmore Estate is America’s largest private estate and tourist attraction. Frequently referred to as “America’s Castle” and “Legacy of the land”, The Biltmore is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country, with more than one million visitors annually. The mansion was built by George Washington Vanderbilt II from 1889 to1895. The Vanderbilt family was worth over $200 million back in the 1800s due to ancestors gaining huge leverage in the railroad and shipping arena. His vast home was initially designed to entertain friends and family. He wanted to create a place where he could relax as well. The elaborate village created by Vanderbilt included cottages, shops, an Episcopal church, post office, hospital, and the Biltmore Office Building. The Estate is currently owned by “The Biltmore Company”, which is controlled by Vanderbilt’s grandson. The Biltmore has an annual revenue of about $50 million and an estimated market value of $125 million.
