Famous people are notorious for dropping large amounts of money on things that other people would never dream of being able to afford. But at the same time, there are many of them that also prefer to save a few dollars whenever they can.
That’s kind of surprising since so many celebrities have a lot more money than their fans do, but at the same time, everybody likes to save some money every now and then. Just because a person may not have the same financial struggles as everyone else does not mean that they always want to spend a lot. Here are 10 stars who love a good bargain.
Lady Gaga
Singer Lady Gaga might have millions of dollars these days, but she hasn’t let that stop her from trying to be a good bargain shopper. Even though she still loves to spend lots of money on occasion, it seems that the star hasn't forgotten what things were like for her when her wallet was a bit less full (figuratively speaking).
Apparently, when Lady Gaga visits the grocery store, she still loves to get her hands on good food that isn’t ridiculously expensive, which most people can relate to. The star even tweeted about looking for sale racks.
Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio is definitely a rich and famous actor, which is why some people might be surprised to find out that he's actually a very frugal person. While he does live in a home that is worth millions of dollars, the actor has been rather generous and charitable with his money over the years.
Even though DiCaprio is worth nearly $245 million, he doesn’t let it go to his head. While the actor does have multiple vehicles, he has mostly been seen driving around in a very subtle one, which is his Toyota Prius. He's also a big fan of commercial airliners.
Mel Gibson
Mel Gibson might be a very well-known actor, but the star is very frugal when it comes to his methods of transportation. The actor might be worth approximately $900 million, but it would be very hard for one to guess that just by looking at the car he sometimes chooses to travel in.
Instead of driving around in something super nice and expensive, the What Women Want star has actually chosen to drive something as simple as a Toyota Cressida. Perhaps this is his attempt at staying out of the spotlight as much as possible. It works since the car isn’t very noticeable.
Ed Sheeran
Singer Ed Sheeran makes lots of money these days, but his spending habits certainly don’t reflect that since he doesn’t drop lots of money easily. The singer actually only allows himself to spend a small amount of money each month.
Though he is rich, Sheeran has not forgotten what things were like for him before. Apparently, the star only allows himself to spend a small amount of money each month. He claimed that he does this because he does not want to waste any money, which is a really smart move. Sheeran also still uses the same bank account he used before he became a superstar.
Sarah Jessica Parker
Sarah Jessica Parker might be earning some pretty hefty paychecks these days, but she is still a bit of a bargain shopper. The actress and her family have a rather expensive home, but that doesn’t mean she likes to carelessly drop lots of money.
Parker grew up very poor, and it seems that that had a very big impact on her. She doesn’t mind making big purchases sometimes, but she likes to save as much as she can. “I have such a weird relationship with money,” the actress has been quoted as saying. She doesn’t like the thought of being broke again.
Halle Berry
Halle Berry certainly isn’t financially poor, but she can still be seen buying some cheap things, just like everyone else. A few years ago, the actress was spotted buying some Christmas wrapping paper at CVS.
Even though her career still seems to be going very strong, she still holds onto the thought that one day it might all be gone. This is part of the reason why she is so frugal. The actress has also been known to enjoy buying things off of sales racks. Not even Berry can turn down a good bargain.
Mark Zuckerberg
One might think that Mark Zuckerberg, who is the founder and CEO of Facebook, probably drives around in some of the most expensive vehicles, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. In reality, the star has been known to drive a Volkswagen hatchback.
It is pretty easy to look at this guy and tell that he does not live a very high-profile life. Zuckerberg might be worth $74.2 billion, but it would be hard to guess that based off his spending habits. He's also seen walking around in t-shirts and jeans.
Tobey Maguire
Tobey Maguire doesn't want to be one of those actors who's desperate to land a job simply so that his bills can be paid, and that's one of the reasons why he chooses to be careful when it comes to his spending habits. Maguire is a pretty laid-back guy, and his spending habits are kind of like that as well.
Like many other famous people, Maguire credits his ability to save money on his childhood. The actor had a rough upbringing, and he doesn't like the idea of being broke again. The actor even compared himself to some people who have won the lottery in the past and said that "wouldn't happen" to him.
Kristen Bell
Actress Kristen Bell could probably afford to live a very expensive life, but that is just not her style. The actress and her husband, actor Dax Shepard, both prefer to live lowkey lives, and they are known for their thrifty spending habits.
The couple has even joked about the fact that they through the “world’s worst wedding.” While most married couples in Hollywood had really expensive weddings, these two lovebirds opted for something much cheaper. They only spent $142 on their big day. They have also been known to wear some relatively cheap outfits to events as well, one of which came from Target.
Keira Knightley
There are a lot of things fans might be surprised to find out about when it comes to actress Keira Knightley, including the fact that she only allows herself to live off of a small amount her money each year. The actress is worth approximately $50 million, but she only spends about $50,000 a year.
Even though Knightly certainly doesn't have a hard time bringing money in, she chooses to live a relatively frugal life because it keeps her grounded. She doesn't want to lose touch with what things are like for everyone else in the world, and she is afraid that will happen if she decides to start spending more money.
