Usually, people like to watch celebrities do things like buy expensive clothes and jewelry, go on luxury vacations, and drive around in their fancy cars. There’s more to their lives than that, though. Some of the most relevant celebrities in Hollywood are really good people, making donations and supporting charities that raise money for good causes. People like Leonard DiCaprio, Michael Jordan, and Angelina Jolie are known for their philanthropy and support of certain political and economic causes. We’ve gathered a list of the biggest celebrity donations; these celebs have a lot to give!

Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin is most known for his role in the great comedy show Saturday Night Live. He is famous for his hilarious Donald Trump impressions, as well as his incredibly generous donations to several organizations involved in the arts and culture sector. These include his donations of about $2.7 million to his alma mater over the past decade, $1.7 million to the East Hampton Library in Long Island, and his contribution of one $1 million to the New York Philharmonic. Altogether he has donated about $17.5 million through his foundation.

Michael Jordan

Mending the relationship between US law enforcement and people of color has been an issue in the United States especially, however, there are people who are trying to reinforce good vibes between the African American community and police; one of them being Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan has donated $2 million towards the cause. He is also an advocate for educating Americans about the history of African American heritage. For example, he has given $5 million to the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio is the butt of many memes, including every Titanic meme, as well as the Oscar memes (though that ended when his role in The Revenant earned him khis first). Despite having to wait over 20 years for his first, well-deserved Oscar, DiCaprio has made many contributions to the ocean conservation cause as well as other environmental causes. Since 1998, the founding of his foundation “The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation”, he has given away over $100 million and has funded over 200 projects. The Titanic star says that the goal of the foundation is to “focus on critical funding to those who could have the greatest impact.”

George Lucas

If you’ve ever watched a Star Wars film, you may have seen this generous man’s name pop up on the screen during the credits. George Lucas is the reason that the beloved Star Wars franchise exists. In 2012, Lucas made the decision to sell the Star Wars franchise and all its rights to Disney, since he was the sole owner before that. Even though people have expressed their unhappiness with the decision, some good did come out of it. Disney bought the all-time favorite for about $4 billion dollars, all of which Lucas donated for improving education in America.

Miley Cyrus

Despite her crazy personas and phases she has gone through, Miley Cyrus has made some truly kind and generous donations since becoming famous. Everybody watched in horror as the California wildfires claimed the homes of families and individuals in 2018. When she and her now husband Liam Hemsworth lost one of their homes to said fires, they thought it would be a good idea to help those who couldn’t afford to just buy another one. In the end, they donated about half a million dollars to the cause, saving many from being out on the streets.

Jerry Seinfeld

Known for his hit TV show Seinfeld, Jerry and his wife Jessica have donated tens of millions of dollars towards many different causes, usually involving poverty. They have donated money towards children so that their families can afford to buy clothes as often as they need to since children outgrow their clothes rather quickly. They have also raised $42 million at numerous charitable events including his annual Seinfeld family gala, where they raise money to “break the cycle of global family poverty”. He has also sponsored organizations through his foundation.

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock has been acting since the late 80s and has always had a great reputation. Her performance in movies like Gravity and The Heat have contributed to her extensive filmography; so extensive, in fact, that it requires a Wikipedia page all on its own. However, between all the movies and filming, she is quite the philanthropist. In 2010, she was even named one of the top 100 most influential people in the world, by the Times. Like Miley Cyrus, she has contributed to the California Wildfire Relief team, donating a total of about $500,000.

Oprah Winfrey

Oprah has always been known as one of the most generous women in Hollywood. She has her hit reality TV show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, where she gives many prizes, awards, and gifts away for decades now, and has touched the lives of many. Along with this, she has also donated millions of dollars toward many different causes and foundations. Through her own foundation “The Oprah Winfrey Foundation” she has donated over 100 million dollars toward education and children and women’s health. She even has an academy for girls in Africa.

Barbara Streisand

Barbara Streisand is an American singer, actress, and filmmaker, and has been since the young age of just 19 years old. She managed to make her way to the top with a net worth of about $400 million dollars. Her hard work has paid off and she’s been doing amazing this with the money she has earned. In 2008, on a random Wednesday, Streisand donated about five million dollars to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The money is was intended to be used for the “women’s heart education and research program."

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey is one of the most beloved actors in the business, known for his dreamy performances in romantic comedies, he has won the hearts of many people. Of course, Matthew McConaughey is not just a pretty face to daydream about. He has donated millions of dollars towards health and education. Only in his forties, his net worth of 77 million dollars is being put towards foundations such as BID 2 Beat AIDS, Children’s Defence Fund, and the Pacific Lodge Boys’ Home. In total, he has donated to at least 17 different charities.
