Trucks are more than just a means of transportation for many Americans. Trucks are the status symbol of the manly man and are designed for both power and luxury. Despite being known as heavy fuel eating machines, they hold a special place in the hearts of the people who own them and are essential to the American landscape. They are more useful now than ever in the winter season, as the roads get unpredictable and icy. Four wheel drive can come in handy when trying to escape the ditch, and a big truck has an added protection from being injured in an accident. If it’s truck verses car, the truck will win every time.
In 2014 trucks are getting more economically friendly but that doesn’t mean your wallet wont suffer when you purchase one of these new bad boys. Car companies are competing for the most luxurious and powerful truck, to combine work with play. Either way these trucks will be worth a second look on the road, regardless if they are used for pulling trailers, carrying heavy cargo or simply being used as a family friendly vehicle. The luxury high-end models account for one third of sales last year. Luxury trucks are getting bigger and better in the next year, with hand stitched leather and high technology features becoming standard in trucks, when it previously had only be found in high end luxury cars and SUV’s.
The trucks of today have extended cabs, making them comfortable to sit more people. The single row seating is quickly becoming a thing of the past. They are becoming more convenient for different types of people to enjoy making them a popular luxury vehicle choice. Just don’t be surprised at the price tag, with all the high-tech gadgets included, most luxury trucks start out at $45,000 and higher. Even with the price tag, the feeling driving any of these luxury trucks down the road will be worth it to any luxury vehicle enthusiast.
Prices are based on the 2014 sticker price on all the vehicles as they are expected to remain the same, with the exception of the 2015 F-150. Ford has announced it will cost about $1, 500 more because of changes made to the newer model. Official prices will be announced closer to Fall 2014, before the new vehicles go on sale.
10. 2015 GMC Canyon: $40,000
The GMC Canyon was revealed at the 2014 Detroit auto show in January. The truck resembles a smaller Sierra, and will attract the crowd who prefers a smaller truck without sacrificing much towing capabilities. The GMC Canyon is designed 900 pounds lighter than than the Sierra and is 17 inches shorter and 6 inches narrower. It’s made of light weight aluminum to improve fuel efficiency, and has aerodynamic grill shutters. The model is made with a muscular looking front end compared to the larger truck, to convey the power that is bundled into the smaller version.
9. 2015 Nissan Titan: $44,000
The next generation of the Nissan Titan will have a Cummins Turbo Diesel V8 engine to provide 300 horsepower and 560 pounds of torque. The truck will become the second in the world to offer a diesel option and will take on the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel launched last year. Not much has changed in the Nissan Titan for over a decade but the changes coming in the 2015 model being released in late fall may make this truck a contender in the full-size truck market.
8. 2015 Toyota Tundra Baja: $47,000
The Tundra Baja is the biggest competitor of the Ford Raptor. The exterior was completely restyled for 2015 and the first look of the new model was revealed in December. The bumper is stronger steal, and is closer to one typically found on a race car. Fog lights are on the bumper and LED daytime running lights are on the lower ledge. The grill now will have Toyota written in big letters across it. The engine will be strong and is noisier than before, with capabilities of going through different weather conditions and terrain making it a popular choice for off road driving.
7. 2015 Toyota Tundra Platinum: $49,000
The exterior design is the biggest change coming in 2015. The grill is wider and the hood will be 1.6 inches higher. The interior has not been ignored in this new design. The dashboard has been rearranged to be more practical and the leather heated seats will be more comfortable. The new Tundra has new safety figures and stability control and includes a 12-speaker sound system.
6. 2015 Ram Laramie Longhorn: $50,000
The Laramie Longhorn is Ram’s most luxurious truck model, however they are considering adding a more luxurious model in the future but it’s hard to picture a better truck. The Laramie Longhorn comes with a western rancher themed upholstery, saddle bag like storage and embroidered leather seats that resembles that of a western saddle. The long horn is a top of the line truck for one who enjoys luxurious amenities and has a taste for western flare.
5. 2015 F-150 Limited: $50,405
Ford is making a big change with the new design of the F-150 series trucks. The decision to change the body of the truck to aluminum came as a shock to many at the unveiling of this new design. Using aluminum shaves 700 pounds from the weight of the truck and will make it more nimble and fuel efficient. No other truck on the market contains this much aluminum and it remains to be seen if this will be a game changer in the truck world. Not to worry because the frame is still made of high quality steel.
4. 2015 Toyota Tundra 1794: 52,000
The 1794 edition of the Toyota Tundra is a big contender in the truck world, giving real competition with other trucks in it’s class. The 1794 is styled in a western theme, with Lexus-grade saddle brown leather. The seats are also heated and cooled. It includes a powered moonroof and even parking sonar and a back up camera. The interior is very luxurious although quite similar to the King Ranch. The 2014 1974 edition (pictured above) has gotten great reviews, with the exception of some complaints about numb steering and a slightly gaudy interior.
3. 2015 Sierra 2500 Denali HD: $52,250
The new Sierra Denali HD has a noticeably quiet interior design that features inlaid door designs, and triple door seals to block out any outside noises. The seating is Denali exclusive perforated leather and unique Denali identification. It’s got a functional design while promoting comfort and luxury. The center console is big enough to store hanging file folders and laptops easily. The Denali has heated and cooled seats and a heated steering wheel. The new model improves on the back seat legroom on crew cab models.
2. 2015 GMC Sierra 3500HD: $52,500
The exterior of this truck comes with corner steps allowing for easy access to the box and four tie downs to help manage cargo of various sizes. This heavy duty truck is capable of the heaviest of jobs. New LED box lighting will make checking on cargo easy even when the lid is installed. No need for a flashlight. The interior is just as functional as the exterior design and is made to reduce outside noise and provide a quiet relaxing space full of luxuries of high quality leather and a moonroof.
1. 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD: $70,000
The new Silverado Heavy duty truck is packed with updated safety features and more convenience. The new design is more aerodynamic than the previous version and has improved towing capabilities for those tough jobs. SD and USB power ports are available and towing-specific controls are close at hand. There are many customizable options available and different bed sizes to choose from. The Silverado is one of the most powerful trucks available and still designed with class and luxury that can be appreciated. No longer are workhouses just utilitarian powerhouses, but include the same luxury as the high end cars.
