Some people think “If you’ve seen one car, you’ve seen them all.” However, nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, there are a lot of cars that have been and stayed concepts and have likely never reached your eyes. Even as a car enthusiast, you’re probably not up to date on all concept cars made within the last decade. There are cars that you could not have imagined(and cars that you have imagined but never thought possible) that have been turned into completely functional vehicles.
Shapeshifting, floating, and life-size Hot Wheels cars are all on this list. Breaking boundaries(and banks) are these kinds jaw-dropping concepts. Some of what’s on here are new and some date back to as far as 1975. Even the older ones look as though they’ve time traveled from the future. If you love cars and like to know what’s new then you’ll love learning about what’s only in the design and idea phases. There are cars that have been brought to production, but those are usually rare and expensive. Elegant designs, sleek lines, and exclusive features all make us feel like there’s no way these cars can be a reality. Unfortunately, some of these haven’t gone past the concept phase, but fingers crossed everybody.
From futuristic designs and even features that hint to the past, here’s a list of the coolest concept cars you’ve likely never seen before. To think some people feel like there’s nothing they haven’t seen in a car. What a concept.
15 Aston Martin AMV10
14 Maserati Birdcage 75th
13 Corvette Stingray Concept
If you remember Sideswipe from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, then you know this is what the character transformed into. The Corvette Stingray Concept was built to celebrate 50 years of the Stingray model. Some features nod to the original car(like the split rear window), but it also has unique touches like scissor-style doors, rear view camera with night vision and a hybrid engine. The car debuted at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show and in 2013, it was announced the concept car would become a reality with the production of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. Unfortunately, some of the concept’s features didn’t make the grade and the 2014 Corvette Stingray is missing the scissor-opening doors and split rear window among other details.
12 Toyota FT-1
11 Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo
10 Audi Prologue
9 Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4
8 Volvo Concept Estate
7 BMW Gina
6 Lotus Hot Wheels
5 Lamborghini Gallardo Concept S
4 Ford GT90
3 Volkswagen Aqua
2 Peugeot Onyx
1 Lamborghini Estoque
Just in case you were counting down, yes, this is the third and last Lamborghini on this list. The four-door sports car is suitable for daily driving but can handle almost whatever you throw at it. As the first sedan to come from the Italy-based automaker Sant’Agata Bolognese, the Estoque comes with choices. A Gallardo-based V-10, turbocharged V-8, a diesel/hybrid V-8 are all options the car can use as an engine and the split five-spoke wheel will be able to transfer all the power to the ground. A large LCD display, high-quality audio, and a rear-seat entertainment system are all included in the package, too. Plus, interior space will be enough to fit additional passengers.
