Quaint bed and breakfast locations are like little jewels in a bevy of bustling hotel chains where they barely know your name. Although not for everyone, these charming hideaways include their own ambiance and unique pleasures.

For those who have a bit more cash at their disposal, luxury bed and breakfasts can be just the right amount of respite, pampering and local flare to make it a completely different type of vacation.

Often, these particular hotel venues are thought of as destinations for romance. Clearly, just like hotels, B&Bs have different features that appeal to a variety of people. Some are family-oriented and have activities and game rooms while others cater to the upscale romantics.

Anyway you cut it, B&Bs are a nice change from hotel chains and even boutique hotels. Generally they are family run, which is obvious from the meticulous attention that is put into every detail. The following bed and breakfasts rank among our favorite in the world for luxury, style, amenities and location. Take a look at each one, as they are so different, appealing and easy to understand their ranking.

There is no stopping people from wanting to find the best places in the world to relax. You may want to note, that many of these spectacular bed and breakfasts have incredible (affordable) off-season rates.
