For folks looking for a remote getaway, the Grand Tiki presents an alluring option. The Airbnb listing is making headlines for its isolated location. Visitors have the opportunity to stay in a floating boathouse off the coast of Key West, Florida. The boathouse features a single bedroom and bathroom suitable for up to two guests. But with its remoteness – it requires a water taxi to access – guests are ensured a peaceful and uninterrupted stay.

Forbes reports that despite the Tiki’s desolate location, it manages to boast a variety of amenities to ensure a more-than-comfortable stay. The boathouse includes underwater soffit lighting, a 50-inch TV, hardwood floors and deck, French doors, and tempered peak windows. It’s powered by a 30-gallon daily freshwater tank. Guests can keep food cool and comfortable with an electric mini fridge. Other cool perks include voice-activated lighting controlled by an Amazon Alexa, a mobile WIFI hotspot, a Keurig coffee machine, and a macerating toilet.

According to the Airbnb listing, this luxurious boathouse is hosted by Tiki Suites. But this isn’t the first pad the host has listed on the vacation rental site. Forbes notes the host originally launched a tiki boathouse several years ago on Airbnb known as the floating Tiki Suite. It boasts 4.87 stars and 161 reviews on the platform. The rental also has room for two guests with a single bed and bathroom.

While the Tiki Suite isn’t as luxurious as the Grand Tiki, it offers a variety of amenities and perks to ensure a satisfying stay. It features Alexa-controlled lighting, a Roto Molded cooler to refrigerate food, and a Keurig coffee maker, though it's the only cooking appliance on board, the listing warns. Guests can take advantage of available paddle boards, snorkel gear, or rest up in the hammock.

Both locations are advertised as perfect vacation spots for guests looking to enjoy a luxurious glamping experience. Glamping – a modern term that’s a product of the word ‘glamorous’ and ‘camping’ – has steadily increased in popularity over the years, as more folks want to enjoy the outdoors without sacrificing comfort. Glamping refers to a variety of activities and vacations, including stays in yurts, tree houses, camping cabins, or in this case, tropical boathouses. It often includes the comforts of home, like mattresses, running water, and indoor plumbing.

As of now, the Tiki Suite seems to be fully booked until July 2021. It costs guests $572 per night. The Grand Tiki also doesn’t have any availabilities until July of this year. It’s slightly more costly at $699 per night.
