Amy Schumer is close to sealing the deal on a new house, and it’s one you’re likely to recognize.
According to the New York Post, is in the process of buying 19 Cranberry Street, which was the home used in the 1987 Oscar-winning moving Moonstruck, starring Cher and Nicholas Cage. The comedian has reportedly been touring townhouses in Brooklyn Heights, and she appears to have fallen in love with the $11 million home.
The home was first listed in February of this year for $12.85 million. New York real estate agent Robert Khederian represented the listing and opened up about the iconic home on social media.
"Originally built in 1829 (then likely renovated in the later 19th century to get that third story and Mansard roof), this house on one of the best streets in BK Heights has historic charm AND a connection to Cher, so really the package cannot get more complete," he wrote in an Instagram post.
"Love the federal fireplaces and woodwork in the double parlor. The kitchen is beautiful, the bathrooms make you smile, and there’s a dressing room you could spend all day in. That’s amore!" Khederian continued.
Straight out of the 19th century, the home features over 5,500 square feet of living space. It comes with 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms.
The current owners originally bought the house in 2007 for $3.85 million. Now that the home has been on the market for half a year, it appears they’re open to lowering the asking price, as Amy is reportedly trying to secure it for $11 million.
Schumer and her husband Chris Fischer are currently trying to sell their Upper West Side penthouse, located at 190 Riverside Drive. They’re hoping to get $15 million for the home. Despite the larger price tag, Schumer’s current home is similar in size to the Moonstruck house, with over 4,500 square feet of living space in addition to 3,000 square feet of outdoor space. It comes with 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
Schumer originally purchased the home in 2016 for $12.14 million. She and Fischer wed in 2018 before welcoming their son Gene the following year.
“I’m someone who came from having to share a bed with my mom,” she told the Wall Street Journal of buying the penthouse. “We had no money.” She said that buying the Manhattan home was “a big deal for me. It felt like such a palace.”
