American actress, mathematics writer, and education advocate, Danica McKellar recently told the people at People magazine that all her Christmas movie characters had rubbed off and her and that she and her family, plus her mother, had packed up their life in the heart of Los Angeles and moved to rural Tennessee, to a big house on several acres about an hour southwest of downtown Music City.
Turns out, that’s not the only shift in McKellar’s property portfolio; she’s also just sold an unassuming home in L.A.’s largely unsung and quietly affluent Rancho Park neighborhood, near Century City. The not particularly unassuming sale price of $3.025 million marks an enviable profit on the $1.725 million records show was paid back in the summer 2013, a year or so after McKellar divorced her first husband, composer Mike Verta, and about six months before she married her current husband, attorney Scott Sveslosky. It’s not clear when McKellar last occupied the home.
According to Dirt, First and still known for her teenage portrayal of Winnie Cooper on the late 1980s and early ‘90s sitcom “The Wonder Years,” McKellar went on to become a staple of Hallmark Channel holiday fare. She recently signed a multi-picture deal with Great American Family networks — her first film for GAF, “Christmas at the Drive-in,” premieres Thanksgiving weekend — and she’s done a ton of Voiceover work, including as the character of Miss Martian on the animated series “Young Justice.”
Built in the mid 1990s and set on a tree-lined street with similarly well maintained and otherwise unremarkable (though remarkably high-priced) homes, the 3,100-square-foot home is a suburban blend of traditional and Mediterranean influences, according to marketing material.
White roses line the front walk and gleaming oak floors extend from the living room, with its “impossibly high ceilings, impressive chandelier, and oversized stone fireplace,” into the formal dining room. They also flow in to the family room and the open-concept center island kitchen. One of the three guest bedrooms has a private bath (the other two share a hall bath), while the main bedroom offers plenty of room to accommodate a seating area, a dressing area with built-in vanity, and a bathroom jazzed up with a jetted tub and glassed-in steam shower.
The .14-acre mid-block parcel doesn’t allow for a particularly expansive backyard, but there is room for a spacious pergola-covered patio and a patch of grass. Mature trees, dense foliage and high hedges provide privacy from neighboring homes.
The property was listed with Ben Lee of Coldwell Banker Realty; the buyers were handled by Michele Hall, also with Coldwell Banker Realty.
Records indicate McKellar’s new digs in Nashville, an 8,500-square-foot, six-bedroom traditional mansion on more than three acres of rolling lawns surrounded by woodlands, was purchased more than eight months ago for $3.1 million.
