Cher is one of the most influential artists in the world. As a successful musician, actor, and television personality, she has a career that spans multiple decades. One of the best-selling musical artists of all time, she has sold over 100 million copies of her albums and earned several accolades for her career in Hollywood. She is the winner of prestigious honors such as the Academy Award, multiple Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, a Cannes Film Festival Award, and a Golden Globe award. Through her music, acting, and Las Vegas residency, she has amassed a $360 million fortune that she likes to spend on making lavish purchases, most prominently in real estate.

From her first home in LA to buying properties in luxurious locations like Venice and London, Cher has stunning estates worldwide. Each home is unique from the other.

First LA Home

The first big purchase under her belt, the diva bought an apartment in Franklin Avenue with her then-husband, Sonny Bono, in 1967. Tony Curtis sold the house to the couple for $250,000, and it featured seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The couple put the home on the market in 1969, and it has been the home to various people. In 2017, it got sold for $23.5 million.

Owlwood Estate

One of the largest estates on the list, Cher and her husband purchased the property in 1974 for $750,000, called the Owlwood Estate, the home originally built in 1936. The 10-acre property designed by Robert Farquhar had nine bedrooms, ten baths, a pool house, multiple gardens, and two guardhouses, as noted by Grazia. The property was last sold for a whopping $90 million in 2016 and later put on the market for $115 million.

Benedict Canyon Estate

After separating from her husband Sonny, she purchased a solo and secluded property in Beverly Hills in the upper Benedict Canyon neighborhood. The 14-acre space contained breathtaking outdoors with a swimming pool, tennis court, flower gardens, and rolling lawns. Having eleven bedrooms and seventeen bathrooms, Cher had sold the stunning property to Eddie Murphy in 1988 for $6.3 million.

London Home

Cher decided to rent an expensive apartment there while living in London for a year during the 90s. In Oliver’s Wharf building, which got converted from a warehouse into a building, the singer enjoyed the gothic-style home that has slowly been renovated over the years and is redesigned as a contemporary building today.

Florida Villa

Every celebrity loves a beach home, and Cher purchased her beach property in Miami, Florida, in 1993 for $1.5 million. According to People, the villa got built-in 1953 and was surrounded by dotted palm trees, multiple courtyards, and a private deck with direct access to the beach. It has six bedrooms eight bathrooms and was last seen on the market in 2017 for $15.5 million.

Hollywood Apartment

The artist purchased a $3 million apartment in the Sierra Towers in 2006. This residential building is home to many celebrities, including Sandra Bullock and Sir Elton John and her apartment was a two-unit duplex with Balinese-style furniture and glamorous decor. In 2013, the singer sold the home for $5.3 million when she reportedly planned to move to London.

Hawaii Resort Home

Cher showcased her talent as an interior designer when she custom-made her home in Hualālai Resort, Hawaii, in 2008. As reported by Architectural Digest, it spans 33,481 sq. ft. of the area and has six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms. She had purchased the land for $2.9 million before selling it at an auction for $8.7 million in 2010. In 2020, the property was back on the market for $17 million.

Venice Beach Apartment

A modest property on the list, in Venice, 2010, she purchased a three-bedroom apartment for $1.5 million. It is located on the beach close to the sea and city life. The master bedroom features a view of the backyard and a walk-in closet. The outdoors has a tropical-inspired decor with a barbecue station and a bamboo shower. She sold the apartment for $2 million in 2013.

Beverly Hills Home

A quaint bolthole in Beverly Hills, the diva bought a two-story estate from the star of Modern Family, Ed O'Neill, in 2013 for $2.1 million. The estate was built in 1957 and had a master suite, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a private lounge, and a master closet. As mentioned by Observer, in 2018, the artist listed her home for sale for $2.5 million, and it eventually got sold for $2 million.

Malibu Estate

Cher’s current residence is in the Malibu home that she custom-built in 1999. The spacious property spans for miles and features a backyard, a tennis court, a swimming pool, and the main residence. She has listed the home multiple times, including in 2009 for $41 million; however, she took it off the market and continues to live there.

From early properties that have increased value over time to designing her own homes, Cher has shown a keen interest in the world of real estate with her purchases of lavish and simple homes. A positive activist in every sense, Cher has recently announced that she would open doors of her properties to help refugees from Ukraine.
