Woo Hoo! "The Simpsons" Remains The Longest Running Family In Show Biz, Disney Deal Renews The Show For At Least 2 More Seasons

The hugely popular cartoon, "The Simpsons", has just been renewed for at least two more seasons.

Cowabunga! Fans of "The Simpsons" rejoice! Fox recently announced that the popular T.V. show will last through its 32nd season, at least. As the Fox and Disney merger continues to become a reality, 20th Century Fox is becoming part of Disney so the renewal of the show was made with Fox as well as Disney. What this means is that Fox will have the ability to sell ads on the show but 20th Century/Disney will own the show's syndication rights as well as ancillary revenues.

Slash Film says that having "The Simpsons" continue to air on Fox is an asset to the network because they use it to lead in to other animated show launches with a high chance that fans of "The Simpsons" will follow to other Fox animated shows.

Currently in its 30th season, the show has been sitting pretty in its ratings and shows no signs of slowing any time soon hence the double season renewal.

So what can we expect in Seasons 31 and 32 of this much-beloved show about an overweight nuclear plant worker, his blue-haired anxious wife and their three quirky kids? We may just have to wait and see. For now, Fox and 20th Century/Disney are keeping that info under wraps but it will be interesting to see if having Disney's hand in "The Simpsons" will influence the long-running show in any way. Dare we hope for some crossover fun? Maybe in Seasons 31 and 32 we will finally learn exactly what state the plucky town of Springfield is in?
