Surefire Signs Your Gut Might Not Be In The Best Shape

There are a number of ways a person can tell if the balance in their gut is off, and some of them you probably aren't on the lookout for.

The human body is an amazing thing. It can also be an incredibly frustrating thing. For example, when you are unwell or don't quite feel right, and you can't piece together what it is that's wrong. If you have been feeling a little off your game lately, there is the very real possibility that the reason for it lies within your gut.

We've all heard of the phrase "good bacteria" and the commercials for those little bottles of yogurt that help it. In fact, we might have heard the phrase so much that we tune it out. The truth is that the human body actually houses more bacteria than it does cells and yes, some of them are good and some are bad. A number of different things can affect the balance of good and bad in our gut, and here are some signs that might be happening to you courtesy of Bustle.

The first one is pretty obvious, feeling bloated. While you might attribute it to having a big meal or a little too much dairy, it might actually be a sign of something to do with more than over-indulging just the once. In fact, if you eat a lot of sugar and processed food it might be a sign that the bad bacteria has taken over. Your gut communicates with your brain and if the bad bacteria is in control, it will make you crave food that's bad for you.

There are also non-food related symptoms that you might be suffering from. Things you wouldn't attribute to your gut at all. One of those things is constantly feeling tired. That's something many of us can relate to, and it might not be related to lack of sleep. Shockingly, bad breath can also be linked to poor gut health. Dysbiosis, the scientific term for an imbalance between good and bacteria, can actually make your breath smell.

We have actually only covered half of the changes poor gut health can cause in your body. For a definitive list of these and the others, be sure to check out Bustle. Back to those incessant probiotic yogurt ads though, and perhaps it is time to invest. It might feel like throwing money away to some people, but if you are suffering from any of the above and can't figure out why maybe it's time to try them out.
