According to a Buckingham Palace spokesperson, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip have received COVID-19 vaccinations. The 94-year-old monarch and her 99-year-old husband's vaccines were administered by a doctor at Windsor Castle, where the couple has been self-isolating during the pandemic.

Queen Elizabeth "decided that she would let it be known she has had the vaccination" to prevent speculation. Last year, Prince Charles and Prince William were diagnosed with the coronavirus, but have fully recovered. On New Year’s Eve, the queen shared a message in which she stated, "We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return; we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again."

During her annual Christmas message, Queen Elizabeth said that although the past year kept people apart, it also brought many closer together. "Across the Commonwealth, my family and I have been inspired by stories of people volunteering in their communities, helping those in need," she said. Despite being unable to spend time with her family, the queen has been keeping in touch with them through Zoom.

Despite rumors of friction between senior royals and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, following their decision to take a step back from their royal duties and move to North America, a source said, "Everyone is on better terms and have been for quite some time. The relationship has improved and COVID has brought everyone closer together."

On Sunday, the UK’s health secretary said that every adult in the country will be offered a COVID-19 vaccine by the fall. The mass vaccination program has been accelerated following a surge of infections and hospital admissions in the last month.

More than 600,000 people age 80 and over will receive invitations this week to get the coronavirus shot at new vaccine centers around the UK. Health Secretary Matt Hancock said that officials were “on track” to reach its target of vaccinating roughly 15 million people in the most vulnerable groups by mid-February.
