According to a source, Miley Cyrus, 27, and Cody Simpson, 23, have called it quits. The couple, who began dating in October 2019, reportedly broke up several weeks ago. In an Instagram post earlier this week, Cyrus dropped a veiled hint, writing, "Forever and ever no more. 🖤 The #MidnightSky is the road I’m taking.... head high up in the clouds."

Cyrus, who separated from Liam Hemsworth last August, divorced the Australian actor in January. The couple had met while filming The Last Song in 2009, yet had an on-again, off-again relationship. They rekindled their relationship in March 2016 and became engaged that October.

In November 2018, their home burned down in the Woolsey Fire, and a month later they married in a private wedding ceremony in their home in Nashville, Tennessee. On August 10, 2019, Cyrus announced their separation, and 11 days later, Hemsworth filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences." Simpson, meanwhile, dated model Gigi Hadid from 2013 to 2015.

Cyrus was then briefly linked to Kaitlynn Carter, Brody Jenner’s ex. The “Wrecking Ball” singer’s relationship with Simpson reportedly started as a friendship with the couple bonding over music. When the coronavirus pandemic hit, Cyrus and Simpson quarantined together, regularly sharing pictures and videos on Instagram.

Last December, Page Six revealed that Simpson had been seen out in New York City kissing another woman while texting Cyrus. On Instagram, Cyrus shared her last post with Simpson on April 3, when he was as a guest on her IG talk show, Bright Minded. Eleven days later, Simpson posted his last picture with Cyrus.

On August 14, Cyrus released the single "Midnight Sky" and confirmed the cancellation of the EPs She Is Here and She Is Everything. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music about her new song, Miley said that putting out an album at this time didn’t feel right considering everything that is going on. Simpson, on the other hand, is due to release an album this year, his first since Free in 2015.
