An absolute legend of the recording industry, Madonna was one of the biggest acts in that world for what seems like decades. Best known for songs like "Live to Tell," "Vogue," "Take A Bow," "Like A Prayer," and "Papa Don't Preach" among others, for the longest time, it seemed like she was born with the Midas touch. Also a very shrewd person, she has not only been able to change her image with the times but she has proven time and time again that she will make the most of her business opportunities. Due to all of that, she has been able to amass an impressive fortune that leaves very little chance that she will ever know financial hardship unless something horrible takes place. This has allowed her to lead an extravagant lifestyle that few people alive could ever imagine. Realizing that is what inspired us to put together this list of twenty things Madonna spends her money on the rest of us can’t imagine.

In order for something to be up for possible inclusion on this list, it first and foremost needs to be something that the world knows Madonna has bought at one time or another. For the purposes of this list, it makes no difference if she has since sold it as we are focused on the things she has spent her money on. Next, it needs to be something that the vast majority of people could never even dream of buying within their lifetime. As such, you won’t be finding an everyday kitchen item or piece of furniture included here. With all of that in mind, let’s get to the list.

Huge Art Collection

Someone that we’ve always seen as one of the most legitimate artists in the music world, throughout her career, Madonna has used the songs she has performed and her image to express herself. As such, we’re not surprised in the slightest that in her private life, she cares about the pieces of art created by others throughout humanity’s history. With that in mind and the fact that she can put her money where her mouth is, it makes a whole lot of sense that she owns an extensive collection of art. For instance, she owns Fernand Legér’s Les Deux Bicyclettes as well as paintings and photos that were brought to life by Polish artist Tamara de Lempicka. Additionally, that is to say nothing about the pieces of art she has sold at auction for charity and the other more famous paintings we’ll cover later in this list.

Diamond Crossary Necklace

Far from a shy person, throughout her time in the public, Madonna has been known for being pretty outrageous in the clothes and flashy jewelry that she chooses to wear. In recent years, it seems as though she has been less concerned with looking as though she has tons of insanely expensive items around her neck and wrist or adorning any other part of her body. However, while she wears pieces that are more colorful than anything else a lot of the time, that doesn’t preclude her from spending big dollars on her jewelry as well. For instance, she has built a relationship with the designer from the company Lana Jewelry who put together a diamond crossary necklace that Madonna almost always seems to have on.

Maybach 57 S

When looking at the lifestyles of many of the biggest stars around, one of the ways in which they show off their ability to acquire whatever they choose is by owning massive car collections. While that holds true to a degree for Madonna, as she has cars to get her around in her various homes, for the most part, she seems to care more about practicality than anything else. However, the one vehicle that she has that at one time cost her a pretty penny is her Maybach 57 S. A brand of cars that did not do as well as the company behind it hoped at one time, the value of these vehicles has dropped substantially since they were first released. However, at the time Madonna added one of them to her holdings, it would have put her back around four hundred thousand dollars.

Mansions With Strange Setups

The first of several entries on this list that looks at the various living spaces in which Madonna spends her time, this time around, we are not looking at only one of her homes. Instead, you’re about to read about an interesting feature of properties she has bought, and the interesting thing is that it applies to at least two of her massive houses. Someone who is able to afford massive domiciles, we’re sure there isn’t anyone who's surprised that she owns mansions that contain far more rooms than any home we could ever buy. However, we find it really interesting that she owns houses in both New York and Portugal that have more bathrooms than bedrooms by a large margin. The exact opposite of what we’re used to, it makes us wonder if she prefers to spend her time in large and comfy washrooms.

Specially-Designed Mambo Necklace

Someone who rose to prominence as one of the most controversial and rebellious-seeming singers around, at times, it seems hard to imagine that the Material Girl has become a mother. However, she seems to love her role as the caregiver to her six children and is constantly posting footage of having fun with them on social media. A lot of the time, that takes the form of playing some of her own music or tunes performed by someone else for her kids as the group of them get crazy on whatever makeshift dance floor they choose. As a result, her kids have given her the nickname Mambo which inspired her to have the people at Lana Jewelry create a custom diamond-encrusted nameplate she wears around her neck.

Beverly Hills Mansion

An area of California that is famous for being a highly desirable place to live, it is very safe to say that property values in Beverly Hills, California are pretty insane. The location of a home that Madonna owned for a long period of time, she sold a mansion that was located on Sunset Boulevard in 2013 for a reported sum of nineteen-and-a-half million dollars. A nine-bedroom mansion that sits on a 1.17-acre lot, which is huge for California, it had a sizeable pool and an insane fifteen bathrooms within its walls. On top of that, it also featured a two-story dining room, a second smaller eating area, a full-size screening room, a tennis court, two offices for staff, and two guesthouses. Suffice it to say, this home was something out of our world.

Family Grills

Probably the most publicly ostentatious things that Madonna has done in recent years, when she showed up on the red carpet for an event with diamond teeth grills in, people took notice. Not exactly received well in all corners, many people saw this choice of hers as somewhat a sad attempt to garner attention. However, she wore them several times. That said, according to her, she continued to sport them in large part because of the negative attention as she told Ryan Seacrest, "It p*sses everybody off when I wear my grill, so that's why I wear it." That said, one of her kids liked her new look as it turns out that her son, Devid, wanted some grills of his own which Madonna planned to get him for his birthday in 2014.

Hamptons Home And Farm

Someone who has shown herself to be interested in a number of lifestyles throughout her life, for a long time, we thought that Madonna wasn’t able to surprise us any longer. However, funnily enough, it was her decision to invest in property where she could have a simpler, more traditional life that took us off guard. She opted to purchase a large amount of land in the Hamptons that came with a sizeable and welcoming home on it. That said, it seems like a large part of the reason she made the investment is that it came with an extensive amount of farmland. Don’t get us wrong, we don’t expect to see her out there working on crops, but the fact that she added to her holdings by purchasing adjacent land makes us think. That said, some of her neighbors accused her of “stealing” the previously publicly-owned “tree nursery” she added on to her holdings as a way to skirt taxes. Either way, she owns a lot of space in this area.

In-Home Hair Salon

An expense that a lot of people prioritize because it makes them look the way they want and is a relaxing experience, going to a hair salon and getting a haircut can be a fantastic experience. That said, as important as it is to many people, that doesn’t change the fact that it can get extremely expensive depending on what you want to have done. On top of that, taking the time out to drive to these businesses and then waiting for your turn to be taken care of can be hard to work into your schedule. Fortunately for Madonna, she has the kind of money that allows her to forget about any of those issues by having this experience at her convenience. At least, we assume that is the idea behind her New York mansion containing her own private hair salon within its walls.

Private Plane Flights

Someone who travels the world all the time, when you’re Madonna, you may need to fly from America to Europe at a moment’s notice for a number of reasons. For instance, she may find herself making her way to London in order to perform at a sold-out concert. On top of that, if she isn’t busy with one of her tours, this is a woman that enjoys the high life and may want to vacation somewhere abroad or visit one of her many homes. Far too famous to likely feel comfortable in a plane with regular Joes that may mob her, it only makes sense that she would choose to travel in style. As such, when she gets around, she does it by private jet. If that wasn’t enough, she has also angered the environmentally-minded in the past by taking flights over distances she easily could have been driven over, which creates pollution and is crazy expensive.

Adding A Floor

If it isn’t clear already at this point in this list, we’re just going to come out and say that Madonna’s real estate portfolio is something to be incredibly amazed by. Able to shell out insane amounts of money in order to purchase incredible pieces of land, mansions, farms, getaways, or any other kind of real estate you can think of, her options are still not limited to that. Instead, she can also pay construction companies whatever is necessary in order to make the changes to these holdings she dreams up. Probably the most dramatic example of this fact is what she had done to a mansion she bought in New York. Able to have a whole new floor added to the building, she wanted to make sure it had an incredible gym that she and her kids could use to work out and dance in, and she spared no expense to make that happen.

Kabbalah Center

Described on Wikipedia as “an esoteric method, discipline, and school of thought that originated in Judaism,” Kabbalah is something that many people today have little to no understanding of. As a result, there are a surprisingly large amount of us that associate it with various celebrities that have championed it over the years. At various times publicly supported by the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashton Kutcher, Lindsay Lohan, and several others, probably the star that many think of first in this regard is Madonna. Someone who has spoken publicly about Kabbalah a lot over the years, in her case, it wasn’t only lip service. We say that because she was so passionate about it that she bought a home in London and had it converted into a Kabbalah Center which is a great example of what she is capable of.

London Property

Someone who, at one time, was the subject of a great deal of ridicule and derision by people on both sides of the pond, when Madonna began speaking with an English accent, it didn’t go unnoticed. Married to UK born director Guy Ritchie at the time, she seemed to take to his homeland like a duck to water. That said, it seemed like that might go away once the two of them divorced after eight years. Interestingly, that seems to be far from the case as she continues to maintain an impressive abode there. We guess that makes sense as she has kids with her ex and he lives there, so owning a space in the area is convenient. However, it is clear that she has a true appreciation for London as she went further than that and, at various times, has purchased at least six homes in that city alone.

Frida Kahlo Detroit Painting

A Mexican artist that is incredibly respected and whose work is highly sought after, in recent years, people that don’t run in artistic circles have become more aware of who Frida Kahlo was. Due in large part to the critically-acclaimed biopic Frida in which Salma Hayek turned heads with her incredible performance as the titular character, she is more relevant today than in many years. As such, it seems pretty safe to assume that owning any of her paintings, self-portraits, or other works would be more expensive today than ever before. In fact, we can only imagine what Madonna spent to buy her paintings Self Portrait with Monkey and My Birth. That is especially true since Frida created only five paintings when she lived in Detroit for a time, and Madonna bought one of them.

Ten-Thousand-Dollar Water

One of the cornerstones of life on this planet, seventy-one percent of Earth is covered by water, and there are millions of lifeforms that live in the oceans, rivers, and lakes. Imperative to continuing to live for most creatures on the planet, as humanity has created societies, we’ve come up with elaborate ways to bring water to us. Able to find so much success at this that millions of people can turn on a tap and have running water in front of them for hardly any money, many of us have come to underestimate how valuable this is. All of that said, the idea that Madonna spends a reported amount of ten thousand dollars a month on her water is simply ridiculous. Expensive as she and her family use “blessed Kabbalah water,” this seems like an extreme example of excess.

New York Mansion

A living space that we already touched on in the entry about the fact that Madonna added a whole new floor to it, this time around, it is time to look at the whole thing. A mansion of sorts in the midst of one of the most expensive cities in the entire world, her Upper East Side home is not situated on a large piece of land in the slightest. Still, it does have several other trappings of houses owned by the rich and famous as it is fenced in, has the previously-mentioned private gym, a dance studio, and is thirty-three hundred square feet. Also containing a mind-boggling thirteen rooms, that is even more incredible when you realize that regular people spend thousands a month for even the smallest living spaces in that area.

24k Silver Bottles

A couple of entries ago on this list, we looked at the fact that Madonna spends a huge sum on her drinking water. At the time, we’re sure you presumed that would be the only drink that would end up included here but that is simply not the case. Instead, we’re also looking at how much she spent on the drinks she had with her family and friends over the Christmas season in 2008. Opting to fork over thousands of dollars to purchase twenty-five bottles of wine from Valencia, Spain, we’re not sure how many people had drinks with her over that period but they did so in style. We say that because these weren't your run-of-the-mill bottles as they were laced with twenty-four karat silver that is safe to drink.

Insane Entourage

Said to be one of the quickest ways to fritter away your fortune, when looking at the stereotypical way in which a celebrity goes broke, the idea of paying a large entourage quickly comes up. Said to be one of the main reasons why MC Hammer went bankrupt after being a huge musical powerhouse at one time, you’d think this would convince other performers to limit these groups. However, that is certainly not the case when it comes to Madonna, considering the crew of people that travel around with her and take care of her every whim. In fact, when she performs, her rider is said to include an entourage of two hundred people, and when she appeared on The Ellen Show for a week, the mass of people drew that production nuts.

Picasso Painting

In today’s day and age, there are many entertainers that are world-famous for the pieces of art they’ve had a hand in creating, including actors, directors, singers, and several other disciplines. However, the amount of people that have become household names because of creating paintings, drawings, sculptures, or other works like that is incredibly limited. One such person, Pablo Picasso belongs among a lit of people like Vincent van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Raphael, or Michelangelo which speaks to how much he was able to accomplish. As such, the fact that Madonna owns his painting Buste de Femme à la frange is pretty mind-boggling. When you then factor in the fact that it cost her the reported amount of five million dollars, it becomes truly amazing.

Quinta Do Relogio Estate

You know that you’ve bought an incredible home when it is a big-enough deal that it has a name that is not one that its owner jokingly gave it and nobody outside their friends and family know about. For instance, Madonna bought a sixteen-thousand-square-foot place to live in Lisbon that goes by the name Quinta do Relogio and was once seen as a huge tourist attraction. Now in disrepair that she has begun to remedy, her new property houses a “palace,” chapel, and park. First owned by a Portuguese nobleman, if that isn’t incredible enough, it was also used by at least one royal for their honeymoon in the past. We guess that it is good enough for the Queen of Pop and her six kids then.
