Don't expect to see any campaigns from Kim Kardashian in the near-future.
Kim Kardashian helped get Alice Marie Johnson a pardon from the President. This allowed the lovely grandmother, Johnson, to get out of a lifetime prison sentence that Johnson received for a first-time, non-violent drug offense.
Some asked Kardashian if her success encourages her to go into politics. According to AOL, she said that this was more about helping people than politics.
“I’m still doing me...But I enjoy this. This has fulfilled my heart and since I feel so fulfilled, why would I stop that?” says Kardashian.
As we reported on The Richest, Johnson’s crime was that she worked as a secretary for a drug operation and relayed messaged between the buyers and sellers. She never touched either the product or the money and was only working as administrative assistant for the operation. She took the job when she was a young, single mother in order to support her children.
The reason she got such a long prison sentence is that the government charged her with conspiracy. They treated her as if she was one of the bosses of the operation because she had first-hand knowledge of everything the organization was doing when passing the messages.
Kardashian learned about the case by seeing a video about Johnson on social media. The beauty mogul asked the White House to help get a pardon for Johnson, and it worked. Johnson was released from prison and met Kardashian for the first time on an interview for the Today Show.
Johnson was delighted to meet the KKW Beauty creator because she will be able to be with her family and grandkids after spending over two decades in prison. Johnson tried previously to get a pardon from the White House, which for unexplained reasons was rejected. However, with Kardashian’s help, this time she was freed. Apparently, the pardon process took over seven months of discussions before it was granted.
Johnson had an excellent record while in jail. In prison, she became a pastor and worked as a counselor for other incarcerated women. Now that she is on the outside of the prison system, she plans to continue doing work to help other women inmates that are still in jail.
Thankfully, Kardashian knows where her talents and influence can make the most impact, and she'll continue to do so!
