Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron was not happy that Megan Thee Stallion called him out during her Saturday Night Live performance this past weekend. Last month, Cameron, the first Black attorney general elected in the state, announced that none of the police officers involved in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor, 26, inside her Louisville home on March 13 would be charged.
Megan, 25, said, "We need to protect our Black women and love our Black women, 'cause at the end of the day, we need our Black women." She also played audio of activist Tamika Mallory's response to the grand jury’s decision not to charge the officers in connection with the shooting. "Daniel Cameron is no different than the sellout Negroes that sold our people into slavery," Mallory said.
On Fox News' Fox & Friends, Cameron took issue with Megan’s performance. “The fact that someone would get on national television and make disparaging comments about me because I’m simply trying to do my job is disgusting,” he said. “You hear a lot of that from the left about being tolerant. But what you saw there is inconsistent with tolerance. In fact, it’s her disposing intolerance because I’ve decided to stand up for truth and justice.”
When he announced the grand jury's findings, Cameron said the officers "were justified in their return of deadly fire after having been fired upon by Kenneth Walker." The officers had executed a no-knock warrant when they entered Taylor’s home where she and her boyfriend were sleeping. They fired 32 shots, five of which hit Taylor, who was left dying in her hallway unattended for over 20 minutes.
The season premiere of SNL, which was hosted by Chris Rock, started with a parody of the recent presidential debate. Alec Baldwin reprised his role as President Donald Trump and Jim Carrey debuted as Vice President Joe Biden. The premiered drew its second-highest number of viewers in 12 years with ratings up 26 percent from last season's first episode.
