If you thought that things were going to be smooth sailing for Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez this time around, think again. The on-off again couple may have looked like they were pretty solid this time, but alas - it wasn't to be.
According to E Online, Jelena are taking some time apart.
Other sources claim that the pair has split, and it's all to do with Selena's mom's disapproval of the relationship.
An insider told the gossip website, "They were having a lot of little disagreements recently and one fight, in particular, blew up and caused them to decide to break up, however, they've been in contact the entire time and their feeling for each other have not changed." Reports suggest that the pair will most likely reconcile, but are finding it hard to mend their relationship while under such intense scrutiny from the media. Gomez's mother Mandy Teefey has been vocal about her feelings on the relationship, believing that it won't last.
During an interview with Ryan Seacrest in 2015, Bieber spoke candidly about his relationship with the "Wolves" singer. "It was a long relationship that created heartbreak and created happiness and a lot of different emotions that I wanted to write about," he told the E! host.
The two A-listers were first linked in 2008, when Gomez was 18 and Bieber was 16. By 2011, they made their red carpet debut as a couple, but it's been a rocky road for the couple. Despite countless break-ups and reconciliations, it looked like it was over for good when Gomez began dating singer The Weeknd last year, but the relationship didn't last long. When things ended, it wasn't long before Bieber and Gomez were spotted enjoying each other's company once again, going on bike rides and romantic getaways. While neither party publicly confirmed the relationship, fans were rooting for them to finally get it right - but it looks like they'll have to wait a little longer.
