Jennifer Lawrence turns into a completely different person after a few drinks!
The Academy Award-winning actress stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about her newest film, Red Sparrow.
The star revealed how when she gets a few drinks in her, she transforms into her alter ego, Gail. After admitting to Ellen how rum is J Law’s kryptonite, Ellen brought out a tray filled with rum infused cocktails that the actress was sipping on throughout the whole segment.
The talk show host asked Lawrence why she named her alter ego Gail, where J Law replied: “I didn’t. She almost named herself. I think my girlfriends probably named her Gail – probably by the way I look. And it’s a very specific drunk look, too,” Lawrence said.

J Law described her drunken alter ego as “lovely”, and someone who has a “heart of gold”. Although Gail seems like a hoot, she can get Lawrence in trouble sometimes. Lawrence told Ellen a story about Gail sending her into shark-infested waters! J Law and a group of her girlfriends went conch diving and at one point on the excursion, a drunken Jennifer jumped straight into an area of the water that is frequently visited by sharks.
The star revealed how her friends always fear for her when she get’s to drinking. “Everyone’s like, ‘Somebody get her some water and coffee! She’s going to die," she said jokingly. Lawrence assured Ellen that rum is the only way for Gail to make an appearance. The two then talked about Ellen’s 60th birthday party, and how J Law drinking vodka didn’t cause any other alter ego’s to appear, but still managed to get herself into plenty of shenanigans.
The interview continued with Lawrence mentioning how she doesn’t drink while working, but since having started her press tour for her newest film, Red Sparrow, she has been drinking a lot more than usual.
She admitted to being “hammered” at the film's premiere last week after visiting both Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert; drinking more than she should have. J Law’s stories definitely made for a funny interview, and for our sake, we hope Gail continues to make appearances.
