Those of us who want to get in shape, and we're assuming that includes you since you're reading this article, likely want to do so in different ways. Different body types and attitudes to dieting and exercise mean that there is no one right way to get fit. It's all about finding what suits you and most importantly, what works for you.
People often do a couple of things right off the bat when they decide it's time to get in shape, either join a gym or go on a run. If you're anything like us then running is basically your worst nightmare. The idea of running around the block makes us sad while there are people out there running marathons.
If you hate running but are desperate to get that all-important cardio in, we may have a solution for you. Jay Cardiello, a personal trainer to in-shape stars such as 50 Cent and Kevin Love, has shared his eight-week workout with Men's Health. While the whole thing might not necessarily be your cup of tea, week five focuses on a cardio workout that's simple to follow and requires no running whatsoever.
Fair warning, just because it's simple to follow does not mean you won't be working up a sweat. The workout is comprised of ten different activities, all of which you will have to do for a solid 30 seconds. Then once you've completed all ten, do them again, and then for a third time. With rest and adjustment times it shouldn't take you longer than 20 minutes and Cardiello recommends you do it four days out of the week.
Cardio doesn't have to be as mundane as you think. As a matter of fact, it shouldn't be. You also don't necessarily need a machine of any sort. Just follow the workout above and hopefully, you will start to notice the difference over time. All you need is a spare 20 minutes and a little bit of room. Leave the treadmill and the marathons to those who enjoy it.
