After leaving the UK in search of a quieter life in North America, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have faced a series of setbacks as their privacy has been continually violated. The couple recently filed a lawsuit after drones and helicopters flew over their Los Angeles home attempting to capture pictures of them and their young son.

Now, Harry, Meghan and Archie have decided to leave the City of Angels and settle in Santa Barbara. A representative for the couple told PEOPLE that they bought a home in a quiet community in the seaside town, which is 100 miles north of LA, in July.

According to a source, Harry and Meghan hope to provide their son with a normal life, away from reporters and paparazzi. The family originally moved to Los Angeles earlier this year after a short stay in Vancouver, Canada. Before moving into their new home, the royals were reportedly living in Tyler Perry's $18 million Beverly Hills mansion.

The source added that the family never intended to settle in Los Angeles, noting that the couple chose to live in the city while looking for a home since it was near Meghan’s mother’s home. The source also revealed that Perry’s home was far more upscale than the couple aspired to.

Their new neighbors will include Oprah Winfrey, who lives in the Montecito community of Santa Barbara, as well as Rob Lowe and Ellen DeGeneres. The couple has been laying low as a result of coronavirus lockdown. Earlier this summer, they were seen running errands while wearing face masks.

Harry and Meghan have also spent time volunteering. At Easter, they worked distributing meals to critically ill people through Project Angel Food, a non-profit organization that prepares and delivers food to people at greater risk of suffering from life-threatening infections as a result of COVID-19.

Project Angel Food’s executive director Richard Ayoub told PEOPLE at the time that Meghan wanted Harry to get a greater sense of the needs of the Los Angeles community, adding that “there’s obviously a great deal of love and selflessness between them."
