Charlize Theron has been a staple of Hollywood since she exploded onto the scene in the mid-90s - but it looks like she's managed to keep some secrets under her hat, despite being in the public eye.

According to Page Six, Theron confessed during an interview with E! News that she used drugs for most of her life.

"I was a wake and baker for most of my life," the 42-year-old said, referencing her frequent marijuana use. While the actress admitted that she hadn't started dabbling in any substances until she was older, Theron went on to explain that she initially had "good chemistry" with the drug. "I really appreciated marijuana way more than alcohol or anything else," she said. "My chemistry was really good with it when I was younger and then it just changed one day. Like, in my early 30's I just became really boring on it and I would just stand in front of the fridge, so that's no good."

Despite this, the Gringo star said that she hasn't sworn off weed for good. “I’m open to retrying it again because now there’s all these different strains and you can be specific with it,” Theron said. “And I’m actually really interested because I have really bad insomnia, and I’d much rather get off sleeping pills and figure out a strain that helps me sleep better. So when I have a moment, I’m actually doing that with my mom. My mom has really bad sleep too.”

Charlize's refreshing honesty comes as no surprise given her track record. Just last year, she confessed during an interview with Howard Stern that she had tried drugs and "had a f***ing great time." While some fans were outraged and called her out for setting a bad example for the youth of today, most praised her for her candid approach to talking about a taboo subject.
