People are exposing their buttholes to the sun, claiming it to be good for them and that it's an act first practiced in ancient Chinese medicine.

It can sometimes feel as if the things "experts" say are good for us one day are the same things that are bad for us the next. It wasn't that long ago in the grand scheme of human history that people believed smoking wasn't doing them any harm. How anyone could have ever believed breathing smoke into their bodies was a good thing is beyond us.

If the latest health trend to go viral online is anything to go by, 60 years from now someone will be writing an article like this one but instead of smoking, it'll be tanning buttholes. That's right, thanks to a post from a social media influencer, and someone else quickly making it into a meme, people are being led to believe that spreading your legs and letting the sun see your back door has health benefits.

Instagrammer metaphysicalmeagan posted a photo of herself performing the act and the world has been questioning whether it is actually good for you or not. According to Rolling Stone, it's a big fat no. It would seem as if the claims by the influencer that the act was first used by those who practice ancient Chinese medicine are also unfounded.

Rolling Stone contacted experts in Chinese medicine and it seems as if they were not too happy about being asked the question. A gynecologist from the Yale School of Medicine suggested that if anything, the process is bad for you. That part of the body is home to billions of bacteria. Bacteria that normally live in perfect harmony. So to bathe that part of your body in sunlight probably isn't a good thing.

We don't want to say myth busted as we'd hope that there weren't that many people exposing their anuses to the sun, but if you were, it won't be benefitting you health-wise. If you're doing it so that you can achieve the perfect all-over tan and not miss a single spot, well, more power to you.
