When you are a rapper, being flashy comes with the territory. Rappers love to brag about their riches through songs, music videos, and social media platforms, but some take it a couple of steps too far. There seems to always be an unofficial contest about which rappers are the most lavish, which brings the worst side out of them. Keeping up the appearances is very important in an industry that can be very shallow from time to time, which is why we always hear about rappers making some outrageous purchases. And you can be assured that they would never admit to regretting their choice as that would make them look bad in the public's eye.

That is why rappers always stick by their lifestyle choices regardless of how ridiculous they may be. And if you happen to criticize a rapper for making questionable decisions, then you will be labelled as a hater for not minding your own business. That is a valid point—everyone has the right to do with their money as they wish. And let's be honest, rappers buying expensive products only affects them. Well, their pockets, to be specific. We can only hope that the impressionable younger generations who look up to rappers realize that they can't replicate that very same lifestyle.

Today's list features a mix of some of the best and worst rappers in the industry, all of whom have one thing in common. Here are 25 things rappers bought that make us question if they even deserve to be famous:

Young Buck's Jewelry And Fur Coat: Over $12,000

Good times don't always last forever, and if anybody should be aware of that statement, it would be Young Buck. After rising to fame as a member of G-Unit, Young Buck enjoyed great years of success, thanks to the popularity of 50 Cent. During that time, all members of the group were feeling themselves and making some questionable purchases. And why wouldn't they? All of them were dropping hits like it was nothing, but the rap scene quickly changed, and they were left behind.

With tensions rising between them, Buck found himself out of the Unit and bankrupt. Despite many pleas from Buck to 50 Cent for help, the latter held a grudge against him for a while as Buck's properties were all taken away. A few years later, Buck got out of prison and made up with his former boss. And during an IRS auction, Buck paid $12,000 to get back some of his expensive jewelry and fur coat.

Birdman's Million Dollar Gold Toilet

When one era ends, another one begins. As G-Unit faded into irrelevancy, Young Money took over the rap industry led by Lil Wayne and Birdman and later on, Drake and Nicki Minaj. As the boss of the label and group, Birdman happened to be the flashiest of them all. He truly enjoys the most lavish things in life and goes out of his way to make sure that he is one step ahead of everyone.

And when you have more money than you know what to do with it, you begin making questionable moves such as this one. In 2016, it was revealed through a video taken at Birdman's home that he has a toilet made out of gold that reportedly cost him one million dollars. That's one way to flush money down the toilet, but a million is practically pocket change for Birdman at this point.

Lil Wayne's Diamond Teeth: $150,000

Lil Wayne was also as flashy as his former partner, Birdman, which is why he opted to get diamonds in his teeth back in 2009. It was a costly operation for the rapper who reportedly paid $150,000 to have all that work done. At the time, Wayne was on top of the world and the most popular rapper in the industry, so it's no surprise that he was cashing in all his paychecks.

But, based on his downfall, we would guess that this purchase now goes under his regretful category, as Wayne supposedly lost his fortune. And unlike so many entries on this list, Wayne's diamond teeth cannot be of any use to anyone else, so he lost the full value of his purchase. That should serve as a reminder to anybody who is currently living it up more than they can afford in the long run.

Lil Jon's 'Crunk Ain't Dead' Chain: $500,000

There was a time when Lil Jon thought that he would reign supreme over the rap industry until the rest of his life. Little did he know that the Crunk era would barely last a few years before the scene moved on to the latest trends. Lil Jon was everywhere in the mid-2000's, dropping multiple hits every year. He featured alongside the most popular rappers at the time and became one of hip-hop's highest-paid figures.

And as the self-claimed pioneer of Crunk music, he took great offense to some, claiming that the genre was dying. Lil Jon decided to encounter the doubters by purchasing a very costly chain of $500,000 that read 'Crunk Ain't Dead.' As it turned out, Lil Jon was wrong and Crunk would die soon afterwards, so not only did he buy an expensive chain, but one that was truly ridiculous and delusional.

Cam'Ron's Pink Range Rover

There was a time when hip-hop fell in love with Range Rovers, so we saw many rappers add it to their collection. In the early 2000's, Cam'Ron rose to popularity and started a unique movement that caught everybody's attention. He was wearing pink all the time–which was still looked down on in hip-hop–and made it fashionable for a few years.

From do-rags to polos, Cam'Ron was rocking everything in pink and took it one step further with the purchase of his all-pink Range Rover. It was even featured in one of his music videos and had everyone talking for a while. But, Cam quickly realized that he was stunting for no reason and put it up for sale on eBay within a year. Cam's reasoning for selling the Range Rover is that he had decided to move on from pink, adapting purple as his new color.

DJ Khaled Imports Water From The Bahamas For His Pool

Nothing that DJ Khaled does should surprise anyone at this point. Over the years, he has pulled many stunts that had everyone talking, but one particular purchase goes unnoticed more than the rest. It happened in 2009 when Khaled was still establishing himself in the industry but quickly rising in popularity, as he decided to import water from the Bahamas to place it in his swimming pool.

There is no logical reason behind Khaled's move aside from wanting to show off that even his swimming pool is more lavish than the average one. Khaled mentioned it several times over the years and seems to take great pride in it since he claims that nobody else has done it. We are sure that some of his hardcore fans may have been influenced by his move by now, but Khaled remains the pioneer in hip-hop's Bahamas water importing.

The Game's Remote Control Car For His Son: $98,376

A few years ago, The Game decides to pamper himself by purchasing a Bentley Continental GT. After bringing it home, his son was impressed with the vehicle, indicating that he would like to have the same model once he is older. While most fathers would have just assured their kids that their time would come too, The Game took it one step further by buying him the very same car but as a toy.

The remote control vehicle almost cost The Game more than the real one did, spending $98,376 to insert 150 carats into the car. Not exactly the most responsible purchase ever, and it's likely just a giant waste. His son surely enjoyed the gift since he didn't know any better, but one day he will also look back and wonder what his father was thinking when he put real diamonds into a fake car for kids.

Meek Mill's Dreamchasers Chain: $540,000

A few years ago, Meek Mill was one of the hottest rappers in the game, and as such, he started acting like one. Meek was known to brag all the time about his lifestyle and decided to show off to everyone just how good he has it by getting his personal customized chain that cost him $540,000. "Dreamchasers" was written on the chain, which is Meek's mixtape from 2011 that helped advance his career and has become a catchphrase for him.

Meek may have felt that he was on top of the world at the time, but the good times didn't last too long as he would get into further trouble with the law. He was also engaged in a rap beef against Drake that ended up going as bad as it could to him, and lastly, Nicki Minaj dumped him. So if anything, the chain has been a curse for Meek Mill.

Big Boi's Nike Air Force 1: $50,000:

One half of the legendary Outkast, Big Boi has gone on to have a successful solo career in the past decade. And while you may think of him as a big spender, Big Boi does enjoy the lavish things in life as well. It seems like a common trend among rappers, who are always attempting to maintain appearances in any possible way. Some rappers spend a large chunk of their money on jewelry, cars, or mansions, but Big Boi spent $50,000 to get a custom-made Nike Air Force 1 pair of sneakers.

In 2007, Big Boi decided to give one of his favorite kicks a makeover by having it rolled in diamonds from all around. The final result wasn't disappointing at all but definitely not worth the price. And it seems like a terrible investment that he most likely had regrets about within a month.

Tyga's Grills: $45,000

You should be able to see a trend by now. Rappers love taking any item and encrusting it in diamonds to make it flashier than ever. They are also always trying to be one step ahead of the rest, which is why Tyga agreed to pay $45,000 for his grills. Every other rapper was wearing grills by that point, so what was in it for Tyga to do the same? He wouldn't have stood out among the crowd, but with his newly expensive grills, Tyga was sure to turn some heads.

The grills reportedly have 1,400 diamonds in them, all of which will be stuck inside Tyga's mouth for life. Not a very productive use of these diamonds, if you ask me. Another trend that seems to be surfacing is that rappers tend to go through a period of struggle after making a huge yet questionable purchase, which was also the case for Tyga.

Jay-Z: $80,000 Doll For Blue Ivy

Jay-Z has a reputation as not only one of the best lyricists in the rap industry but also as a savvy businessman. But even Hova can't help but make some questionable investments from time to time, which brings our next entry in the form of an $80,000 doll for his daughter, Blue Ivy. She received it on her first birthday, a gesture that Blue Ivy will have no memory of in the future.

And if you were wondering what made this specific Barbie doll so expensive, it is due to the fact that it has diamonds in it. Do grown rappers truly think that kids will appreciate an item more if it has diamonds? That seems to be the general consensus, although we highly doubt that Blue Ivy would have reacted any differently to a five-dollar doll as a substitute for the overly-expensive Barbie.

Soulja Boy Buys 6 SODMG Chains For His Group

Soulja Boy came crashing down just as fast as he rose to the top. It's been a couple years since you likely heard of Soulja Boy, who has faded into obscurity these days. Upon looking at his social media, he is still active today, which proves that there is a market for everything. But long gone are the days where he reigned supreme and influenced the rap scene. He is now considered a veteran by the genre's standards.

Soulja Boy really wanted to show that not only is he doing well, but the members of his group and label, SODMG, were also living lavish, which is why he decided to invest in six expensive SODMG chains. It's a nice gesture if you think about it, but definitely not a wise one since nobody has ever heard of said SODMG members. The label has been a flop since its foundation with Soulja Boy being the only successful artist.

Nas And Kelis' Platinum Grills

It now seems like a different lifetime when Nas and Kelis were madly in love. They became one of hip-hop's premiere couples until their divorce in 2008. But prior to the bitter separation, the couple enjoyed some good times, some of which brought on questionable decisions. In 2004, they bought matching platinum grills that cost $72,000 overall to declare their love to the world.

They were only seen a few times before the grills went missing in action. And if that wasn't enough, Nas decided to get a tattoo of Kelis on his forearm, which he would later cover up. It was a string of bad decisions for one of hip-hop's greatest artists, who may have fallen in love a bit more than he should have. Thankfully, he has bounced back since then and is now making impressive moves with his business ventures.

Iggy Azalea Buys 1962 Chevy Impala For Nick Young

In 2014, Iggy Azalea decided to express her love for her partner, Nick Young, with an expensive present for Christmas. It was revealed to be a 1962 Chevy Impala, which Young apparently loved and enjoyed. But it seems like he didn't appreciate it enough to stay faithful, as Iggy would later on discover that Young had been in multiple affairs. Not only did she buy an expensive car as a gift, but it also went to an unfaithful partner who moved on overnight.

RELATED: Reasons You Never Hear About Iggy Azalea Anymore

It can't be a good feeling, and while we can admire Iggy's intentions with the gift, we have to include it as one of the worst purchases made by a rapper. Based on her career since them, it's safe to say that Iggy would love to take that one back and invest it elsewhere. She has struggled to remain relevant in the industry and became one of the most disliked rappers today.

Nelly's Rolls Royce Phantom: Interior With Mink Fur

Rappers tend to hop from one trend to another. There was a time when BMW's were in style, which influenced all rappers to purchase one and brag about it in their records. But that changes from year to year, and it seems like rappers always return to Rolls Royce every now and then. When Nelly was still one of the most popular rappers in the industry, he was living like it at the time.

Not only did he invest in a Rolls Royce Phantom, but he thought that wouldn't have been lavish enough for his standards, so he got the interior all custom-made with mink fur. Not the wisest decision ever made by Nelly, but it's his money so who are we to judge, right? Nelly bragged about his vehicle during the first year of the purchase, but he probably feels completely different about it now as opposed to his prime days.

Nicki Minaj's $75,000 Weave

Just when you thought rappers couldn't get any more wasteful, here comes Nicki Minaj to make a strong case with the purchase of a $75,000 weave. It was justified as being real hair from an Indian girl who supposedly grew her hair and maintained a healthy lifestyle in order to sell it. And of course, there was a buyer in Nicki Minaj who proudly rocked the weave around.

We have all made some ridiculous purchases throughout our lives, but it's safe to say that we will never make worse life decisions than Nicki did with this one. The weave was purchased last year, so maybe Nicki is still giving it a run. But we wouldn't be surprised if she has moved on to the next one, perhaps a longer and even healthier-looking hair. She obviously has the money to justify her purchases, so why not?

Kanye West Buys Flowers For Kim Kardashian: $136,000

As of the past few years, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have formed one of the most popular couples in any industry. Despite her inexperience, Kim has even been involved in her husband's rap career with some blaming her for his decline. Regardless of what you may think, they remain in the best of terms, and it's easy to see why. In 2014, Kanye really wanted to show his appreciation for the newly-turned mother, Kim Kardashian.

RELATED: Kim Kardashian's Most Expensive Baby And Pregnancy Purchases

And instead of making a typical rapper's purchase of material items, he did the opposite by bringing her flowers. But Kanye definitely overdid it, as he reportedly spent $136,000 on the occasion. Looking back, it is very likely that Kim appreciated the gesture. But when you spend that much money, you probably have higher expectations than flowers. But judging by the entries on this list, we can all agree that it could have been much worse.

Rick Ross Gets A Chain Of Himself

Over the course of his career, Rick Ross made multiple purchases that made everyone shake their heads, all of which could have been included today. He does nickname himself "The Boss," though, so it's no secret that he loves buying what the average person can't afford. And while he may have thought that this was a great investment, Ross probably looks back with instant regret. When he rose to popularity, it was still very trendy for rappers to have their own custom-made chain.

That is why Ross followed suit and got one of himself. It backfired on Ross who thought that he may have started a trend, but ended up becoming a meme. Thankfully, most fans forgot about it since the quality of his music continued to improve. And there are other rappers who came through with their own personal embarrassing purchases that made everyone forget about the Ross chain.

MC Hammer's $30 Million Mansion

Say what you want about MC Hammer, but there aren't many rappers who can claim to have his accomplishments. He may be known as a one-hit wonder to the world, thanks to "Can't Touch This," but he was also one of the wealthiest rappers for a while. But when your career success is based on one song from 1990, then you are very likely to land in trouble if you don't look after your financial situation. Such was the case for MC Hammer, who was living it up by purchasing a mansion that cost him $30 million.

The detailed expenses were leaked to the public in an official document, and most were mind-blown at how reckless he was living. From having multiple swimming pools and tennis courts to a gold toilet, MC Hammer was living beyond his means. And while he may have thought that things would remain the same forever, such wasn't his destiny.

Young Jeezy's U.S.D.A. Chain

In 2009, just as the country was going through a recession, rappers were still spending outrageous money to purchase chains that nobody needs. Young Jeezy was always spotted wearing an expensive chain, but he decided to promote his group by getting a custom-made U.S.D.A. chain that cost him $100,000. That was a period of time when all rappers were trying to outdo each other by purchasing the most expensive jewelry and bragging about it.

As for the group U.S.D.A., they only released one album in 2007 and were never heard from again. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to claim that the chain cost more than the group ever made. And while Jeezy had good intentions with his promotional move, it was a disastrous one. To make matters worse, he is probably going to be stuck with that chain for life because who would invest in a U.S.D.A. chain?

Lil Kim's Numerous Surgeries

In the mid-90's, Lil Kim rose quickly to fame due to her impressive talent and good looks. She made a name for herself alongside the legendary Notorious B.I.G and became a sensation on her own. But as Kim's career progressed, her physical appearance also changed. She was never satisfied with her looks, which is why she continued to invest in plastic surgeries. It got to the point where she had so much work done over the years that she began looking like an entirely different person.

RELATED: Lil Kim And Other Celebrities Who Look Nothing Like They Used To

And it wasn't for the better as Kim has tarnished her image in every possible way. She would have been better off not wasting any money on plastic surgery since her strategy has completely backfired. These days, people no longer talk about her impressive rhymes, but it's mostly to make a reference to all the surgeries gone wrong.

Ludacris Buys A Range Rover Evogue For His 16-Year-Old Daughter

Last year, Ludacris' oldest kid, Karma, turned 16 years old. And as a proud dad, he wanted to truly make it a special day for her so he did what any of us would have done and bought her a brand new Range Rover Evogue. It was custom-made and reportedly cost around $70,000. Pretty expensive for a first car, if you ask me.

It's also an indication that Ludacris has been smart with his money unlike many of his peers who are now in deep financial trouble. As for the car, it was presented in the flashiest possible way that only Ludacris could have pulled off—a habit that his daughter seems to have also picked up based on her posts. Hopefully, Ludacris isn't already having second thoughts about his hefty purchase since that is a major responsibility to be passed on to a 16-year-old.

Diddy Buys A $360,000 Maybach For His 16-year-old Son

Not to be outdone by Ludacris, Diddy has already set the bar high for buying expensive presents. If you thought the previous entry was a questionable decision, then you are in for a treat with this one. For the 16th birthday of Justin Combs, Diddy gifted his son a $360,000 Maybach. Now that's how you truly stunt, Ludacris. Not many rappers can match Diddy's money so he can afford splashing so much cash for a gift.

Diddy wanted to make sure that everyone was aware about his gift to his son, which is why he filmed the birthday party. It goes to show that no matter how old he gets, Diddy will always be the same flashy person we have known since the 90's. It does make us wonder whether he has also looked out for the kids of his old partner, The Notorious B.I.G.

Wiz Khalifa Spends $10,000 On Green Every Month

Most rappers tend to have love for Mary Jane with plenty of albums and songs dedicated to it. Wiz Khalifa is one of the most popular rappers who partake in that lane and always talks about his love for green in his lyrics. A few years ago, he was asked in an interview about how much he spends a month. The number turned out to be much higher than most of us would have suspected, as Khalifa claims to spend $10,000 per month on green.

While we aren't against Khalifa's lifestyle, it does seem like an outrageous figure. With that number in mind, we probably have to expect that he has become a supplier to those around him, especially when he is on tour or recording in the studio. Wiz may want to take a second look at his spending habits so they don't come back to haunt him in the future.

Drakes Buys The Neighbors' House

In the song "Where Ya At," Drake declared that he would buy the neighbors' house if they complain about the noise. As it turns out, he was a man of his word as Drake spent $2.85 million to buy the home near his mansion. Drake's lifestyle may have earned him a couple of complaints from the surrounding neighbors, which is why he was keen to stay true to his word.

RELATED: Drake Continues Streak Of Good Deeds By Buying People's Groceries

That is an example of the expression "keeping it real" going wrong since Drake simply made the move to stunt on everyone else. Perhaps he could have communicated with the neighbors to work on any problems they might have with the noise, but instead, Drake opted to settle matter his own way. And when you have as much money to blow as Drake does, then you won't be concerned with dishing out $2.85 million for a house.
