Whether you're an actor, singer, sports personality, or reality TV star, being good at your job in celeb land just isn't enough. You need a fit body to match. The celebrity world is full of beautiful people flaunting their ripped bodies and everyone always wants to know what their workout and diet secrets are. It's not unheard of for celebs to get up at 4.30 a.m. for gruelling morning workouts. When it comes to interviewing celebrity trainers, they're basically asked the same question over and over: "How does he/she look so good?"

While youngsters like Bella Thorne, Zac Efron, and most of One Direction have youth on their side, their washboard abs and bulging biceps have some competition. Amazingly, though, it's from celebs who are up to twice their age. Celebrities over 40 might have to work harder to look good, but they're managing it just fine. A lot of celebrity mothers are also making waves with their fit physiques. It's official. Being fit over 40 is in, and you'd be amazed just how many of these not-so-young individuals are giving the likes of Justin Bieber and Gigi Hadid a run for their money. Forget being 19, here's the 40+ squad in all of their glory.

Jennifer Aniston

At 49 years old, Jennifer Aniston is still one of the best looking women in Hollywood. She rose to fame as America's sweetheart in hit TV show, Friends, and her string of rom-com movies have made her one of the highest-paid actresses in the industry. In 2016, she revealed she gets up at the crack of dawn just to workout. Jennifer switches up cardio machines with interval training, and she's a known yoga fanatic. Speaking to Women's Health, she said, "I have a lot of favorite workouts. Variety is the key for me." That's clearly also applicable to her diet, which according to Harper's Bazaar includes avoiding sugar, but not coffee. Her breakfast? In an interview with Well+Good, Jennifer said she usually has "a shake with some form of pure protein, then bananas, blueberries, frozen cherries, stevia, dynamic greens, and a little cacao." On less rigid days though, she gave the alternative of "toast and poached eggs with some avocado." You'd better be taking notes...

Gwen Stefani

One year younger, the 48-year-old singer, Gwen Stefani, is a muscle machine. The No Doubt star is known for flashing her rock-hard abs during live performances, and she's frequently papped heading to or from workouts. While her diet, according to TMZ, includes soy milk and organic vegetables, this mom is clearly training hard. Her workouts reportedly include high-intensity cardio, dumbbells, or medicine balls, plus boxing. She pushes her body to the limits with celeb trainer, Gunnar Peterson, who also puts Kim Kardashian and Angelina Jolie through their paces. Gwen is loved for her fierce girl image, but we wouldn't wanna cross her in a dark alley.

David Beckham

Being a professional soccer player is hard work. Transitioning from the UK to be LA Galaxy's superstar, David Beckham may be advanced in his career, but at 42 years old, he still looks fantastic. When he's not on the field, he follows the team's workout routine, which includes bodyweight circuit training, conditioning, endurance, and high-intensity interval training. It's reported that his diet is carefully tailored to avoid processed carbs, while giving those muscles the protein they need. Sources say he chooses fish and lean chicken, alongside plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables for antioxidants. In 2015, he was photographed getting his daughter, Harper, a frozen yogurt treat, but he wasn't holding one for himself. Keep it strict, David!

Jennifer Lopez

Energetic dance routines aren't enough for this music mega-star. Despite being 48, Jennifer Lopez has maintained her sensational curves and strong physique. In 2016, she let Hello! magazine into her secrets. "I am 100% convinced that working out is part of what makes me so happy," she said, adding, "dance has always been a huge part of my life and taking the time to move my body and do something that's so good for me is key to my happiness." She further revealed protein to be her go-to food during cravings and that when eating out, she opts for healthy salads or fish. Given how great she's been looking on the TV show, American Idol, that passion is paying off, Jennifer!

Pamela Anderson

It's hard to believe that this Baywatch bombshell is now 50 and even harder to believe that she's still looking that toned. Pamela Anderson may have had some enhancements done along the way, but those muscles are real, and the former Playboy model works hard to keep it that way. In a 2016 interview with Harper's Bazaar, she revealed a less hardcore approach, stating that she was a fan of pilates and walking her dogs. She did use the words "very active," though. Given that vegan lunches and juices from her favorite eatery, SunLife Organics, were served during the interview, we'll also assume she watches what she eats.

Matthew McConaughey

This 48-year old actor needs no introduction. Matthew McConaughey has been rocking the Hollywood hunk persona for years. His five-mile beach runs are often photographed by the paparazzi. His role in the movie Magic Mike required him to get really shredded, but training was unlikely a problem, considering he loves to workout. Speaking about his physique, he said, "I have always taken care of the way I was looking and this seems to bring many roles that I am proud of." His workouts reportedly include endless crunches, planks, and medicine ball push-ups, plus a ton of cardio.

He lost 47lbs for the movie, Dallas Buyers Club, by living off of egg whites and Diet Coke, although this was to play an AIDS victim. To maintain his current body, he's said to use whey protein powder to bulk up a lean diet of high-fiber, low-sugar cereals, plenty of spinach, beans, and broccoli. He does have a home barbecue patio, though, so presumably, that's a yes to more protein.

Heidi Klum

This supermodel-turned-reality star was born blessed. Following an impressive modelling career that propelled her to fame as a Victoria's Secret Angel, Heidi Klum is known for her appearances on TV shows like Project Runway and America's Got Talent. In 2004, she insured her legs for a reported $2.2 million and with good reason. Now aged 44, she looks as good as she did at 22. Women's Health Magazine had to find out how, so Heidi shared her diet, which includes organic eggs, quinoa, yogurt, and stir-fries, but admitted that she doesn't actually use the treadmill she owns. Biking down Santa Monica's beaches and trampolining with her kids is how she keeps fit. Given her guilty splurge of "truffle pizza and pasta," though, this is starting to look like a body that's blessed from above.

Jada Pinkett-Smith

With her marriage to the actor Will Smith going strong since 1997, everything about Jada Pinkett-Smith says "long lasting." At 46 years old, she is still super fit. Pinkett-Smith is known for embracing her healthy lifestyle, which she extends to her kids, Jaden and Willow. Speaking to Shape Magazine, she said, "They love to go the gym with Will and me, but surfing and snowboarding is what we do together as a family for fun." Despite claiming that she "can't cook," Jada was raised to consider food as fuel for the body- probably why she confessed to a diet of superfoods. She told The Daily Mail that "high protein, healthy carbs, and lots of greens" are on the family menu. She admitted to her love of baking in a separate interview, though, so this is clearly a family that flourishes on fun and zest for life.

Kate Beckinsale

Looking way younger than her 44 years, this Hollywood starlet shot to fame in 2001 blockbuster, Pearl Harbor, although she's since taken a more action-packed focus in the vampire franchise, Underworld. The brunette beauty has admitted to "absolutely dreading" workouts, but in an interview with Shape Magazine, Kate Beckinsale concluded that she "ends up feeling 100% better when I leave." As a devoted yogi, she also works out with celeb trainer, Gunnar Peterson five times a week, describing the cardio she does as "brutal." Her diet? "Lean and clean." She's listed foods like sautéed vegetables, chicken, and fish as favorites. The pure approach also fits in with her tee-total drinking approach. Admitting she's "never actually had an entire glass of anything alcoholic," she drinks plenty of water, and her favorite snacks are 65 calories-per-pack Pirate's Booty packs. Aye, matey!

Halle Berry

Halle Berry has been a Bond girl, won an Academy Award for the movie, Monster's Ball, and is one of the most beautiful women in the world. While an Instagram post captioned, "Me when someone says I'm coming over and I've got snacks," suggested that the X-Men star is an avid snacker, Halle is a woman who's battled food in a more serious way. The 51-year-old has type 1 diabetes, which she's said dictates her diet. The "four small meals" she eats a day include grilled tuna and fresh vegetables. She did, however, confess her love of garlic mashed potatoes to a UK newspaper, and according to her Instagram, she does nibble on Lay's chips from time to time. Workout-wise, she told L.A. Times, "I have never worked out with a lot of weights unless I had to for a film role." Her 30-minute core sessions are three times a week, which is not surprising, considering she's still rocking insanely sculpted abs.

Ryan Phillippe

For someone who is recovering from a broken leg, this 43-year-old heartthrob has a lot of ammo. Behind the baby face that masked an evil character in the movie, Cruel Intentions, Ryan Phillippe has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Fitness is a five-times-per-week deal for this star. His trainer has referred to their workouts as "prison-style," and despite the "Happy Hour Grind" name, it's a gruelling mix of calisthenics, free weights, and 30-minute treadmill runs. Speaking to Men's Fitness, the Shooter star emphasized the importance of "taking care of yourself." For Ryan, that's working out and eating correctly. The man behind fitness-centric Become App mostly eats home-cooked meals. Sadly, sharing them with Reese Witherspoon is no longer a reality, as the couple divorced in 2007.

Elle Macpherson

Elle Macpherson isn't called "The Body" for nothing. The 53-year-old Australian model, TV host, and businesswoman has graced top-name designer runways and magazine covers. For those of you indulging in re-runs of the TV show, Friends, she does a pretty good job playing Joey's attractive roommate. The leggy mom-of-two shared her secrets with Hello! magazine in 2016, revealing that she swears by her own brand, Super Elixir's Alkalising Greens. She mixes in coconut water and adds protein scoops for her fruit and chia seed-packed breakfasts. Elle is the active type. "I love to paddle board, surf, swim or waterski," she said, while her best advice was "to find 45 minutes to move." We're assuming she forgot to mention being blessed with goddess genes...

Dwayne Johnson (The Rock)

Yeah, we're also still gawking. At 45 years old, Dwayne Johnson (a.k.a. The Rock) may be semi-retired as a wrestler, but his body isn't showing much evidence of it. He is also known for his acting roles and fun personality, Dwayne dedicates most of his waking hours to working to maintain his muscle mass. His 4 a.m. alarm clock goes off even earlier when he's training for a movie. In 2016, he told Bodybuilding.com, "I work out for about 90 minutes or maybe an hour and 45 minutes." For his role in Hercules, it was 50 minutes of cardio before even beginning to work on specific body parts. His diet reportedly includes egg whites, oatmeal, filet mignon, plus glucosamine, protein shakes, and an A-Z list of multivitamins. This man's dedication earned him Muscle & Fitness' "Man of the century" title in 2015. Thanks to his epic on-screen skills, he was also the highest-paid actor of 2016. Not bad, Dwayne, not bad.

Eva Longoria

Known for her role in the hit TV series, Desperate Housewives, 42 year-old Eva Longoria is definitely not a frumpy housewife. Her beauty has landed her contracts big name brands L'Oréal. Her great looks also presumably played a role in her ex-husband, Tony Parker, falling head over heels in love with her. Their divorce was hard on Eva, as fans worried about her plummeting weight, but she's since found her health. In an interview with Vogue Australia, she listed "diet and exercise" as her secret to looking good, and she has shared her love of yoga, plus exotic fruits and granolas for breakfast on Instagram. According to Livestrong, brown rice, chicken, and grilled asparagus are Eva's dinner favorites. Given the #NeedMoreCoffee accompanying an on-set social media post though, she's clearly a caffeine fan. Snack-wise, she's revealed her favorites to be super-healthy- raw almonds, cottage cheese, and nut butters for her fruits. No wonder she looks a peach.

Sofia Vergara

If anyone's proving you can be 45 and look great, it's Modern Family star Sofia Vergara. Despite sharing snaps of her cinnamon rolls, toast, scones, and cheese-filled meals, she's got an enviable body, and her curves have earned her big bucks. According to Marie Claire, she works out with her trainer five to seven days a week, with a focus on walking at an incline on the treadmill. "#nopainnocake" seemed pretty fitting for Sofia's Instagram post of her looking worn out on a gym mat, but the toned muscles under those leggings were showing results. She's been spotted shopping at Whole Foods and has confirmed her healthy eating habits to Shape Magazine. Portion control, lean proteins, and whole grains are on Sofia's plates, but so is her guilty pleasure — cake! She's a cancer survivor too, so don't just focus on her good looks. Sofia is a fighter.

Daniel Craig

Suave and sophisticated with his blonde hair and steel-blue eyes, the British actor, Daniel Craig, was born to play James Bond. While this body may seem casual, a lot of work goes into maintaining it, particularly since the 49 year-old actor opts to do as many of his own movie stunts as possible. His 007 workouts have included lifting heavy weights and chest and tricep work, while his preparation diet had to be high in protein for maximum muscle building. Sources say that meant 50% of his intake was from protein, which meant lots of scrambled eggs, white meat, nuts, and glutamine supplements. Of course, he had expert help in the gym from trainer, Simon Waterson, who has also worked with Halle Berry and former Bond star, Pierce Brosnan.

Hilary Swank

While Million Dollar Baby earned Hilary Swank an Academy Award (and millions of dollars), it didn't come without its challenges — namely, acquiring the body of a boxer. Preparations reportedly included two and a half hours of boxing per day and another two hours of weight training. Think she was left to sleep in peace? Nope. The actress had to wake up in the middle of the night just to down her protein shakes. Now aged 43, she still looks incredible, and Instagram shots frequently show her pushing limits in the gym. Speaking to In Style in 2017, she said, "Exercising for me isn't about looking a certain way. My mood, stress levels, and skin are better for it." Well, Hilary, if you ever find yourself stressed, there's always a punching bag.

Brad Pitt

Smouldering looks and second-to-none acting skills have earned Brad Pitt millions, although high-profile relationships with Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, and his recent split from Angelina Jolie haven't made Brad's love life a smooth sail. His torso and ripped exterior have been lauded as much as his roles, and at 54, he's still looking great. Following the training advice he learned for his role in the cult movie, Fight Club, he's been reported to spend up to an hour running and two hours lifting weights. While he's been spotted grabbing ice cream with his kids (and has listed steak and pizza as his favorite foods in interviews), this is a man who knows how to get his body fat down to just six percent. How did he do it? Whole grains, grilled chicken or fish, nutrient-packed bananas, and lots of veggies. We're still getting over that comparison shot, though.

Bethenny Frankel

This Real Housewives Of New York star and entrepreneur may be 47, but she's got an incredibly fit body. Bethenny Frankel is a known yoga nut, and her impressive abs are frequently on display in beachwear. Speaking to E! News about the critical social media comments she receives, she stated, "I do eat, I eat french fries and pizza." Given her Instagram feed, she's also partial to chocolate-chip pancakes, although she told Hollywoodlife.com that matcha tea with almond milk is an "every morning" deal. Likewise on her menus, are herb-encrusted roast turkey and avocado toast, but so are some sneaky blueberry muffins! Hey, there's a lot of antioxidants in berries!

Cameron Diaz

Age doesn't seem to have gotten in the way of this actress' good looks, and her baby blue eyes and blonde locks have helped her to reach that Hollywood sweetheart status. She has starred in hit films like There's Something About Mary and My Best Friend's Wedding. Cameron Diaz is 45 years old but with her own health and fitness manual, The Body Book, she's also known for her wellness philosophies. Speaking to Marie Claire, she said, "Personally, I love the gym." Lucky for her. Did you know she's obsessed with cheese? Yup. String cheese, cheddar, goat, parmesan, gouda, feta, and her favorite, brie. She does cook a lot of her own food, though, and drinking lots of water is high on her list of priorities. Okay, so cheese and water? We'll give it a try!
