What do celebrity parents and normal parents have in common? Well, they have certain established rules for their kids that they expect them to follow, or well, at least try to abide by. For celebrity parents though, these rules may not be too harsh, and they may be a bit more lenient on their children because they may not be around as often as they would like to be to supervise their children. For normal parents though, these rules are enforced, because they are always around to make sure that they are enforced. Normal parents also tend to judge celebrity parents. It is easy to judge these parents because they are always pictured and in some instances shamed by the media for their parenting faux pas. No parent is perfect, but it seems as though celebrity parents are the imperfect ones only because their lives are scrutinized.

Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge are very private celebrity parents who sacrifice a lot to successfully co-parent their child, Marlowe. The couple were once engaged but split not long after Marlowe was born. Despite the split, the parents have maintained an amicable relationship over the years for the sake of their daughter. Family is very valuable to the pair, and to them, it is important that their daughter knows that her parents are very much involved in her life. Below are some unique and probably not so unique rules that young Marlowe has to follow.

Mandatory Bedtime Routine

Despite splitting from her ex, Sienna and Tom have maintained a sort of routine for their young daughter. This routine involves both parents putting Marlowe to bed and reading her a bedtime story. For some couples, this may be a bit awkward to do every night, but for Sienna and Tom, it is a normal thing to do as they try to give Marlowe the impression that her parents are very much in love and have a steady home life. This routine may not be much of a task because the ex-couple don’t live that far away from each other. Even if they did, Sienna said that it was a norm for them to sleep over at each other’s houses. That is a lot of sacrifice on the part of both parents, but for now, that bedtime routine will be in place maybe until Marlowe gets older.

Family Vacation

Young Marlowe has to go on family vacation with her separated parents. Usually, the parents vacation together still. For now, as she is young, she will be glad to have both parents around. But as she gets older and they introduce their new partners into her life, things may get a little confusing for the child. In an interview, Sienna claimed that there was nothing complicated about the relationship and that Tom was her best friend. Hopefully, when Marlowe comes of age, she will be able to understand just how in love her parents really are, and that they tolerated each other just for her. It makes us wonder how long these family vacation rules will be valid for. Maybe just until she can make her own life and vacation decisions.

Live A Normal Life

Despite her mom’s fame and celebrity status, young Marlowe is encouraged to live a normal life. What exactly is considered normal for a kid who has two millionaire parents? Well, their version of normal really involves her going to the park and her mom taking her to school. Marlowe, unlike some celebrity kids, does not have the privilege of being homeschooled (yet). Those activities are pretty "normal" and Marlowe actually seems to really enjoy going to the park and doing kid-like things and well, having head lice. Despite Sienna’s efforts, Marlowe’s life is far from normal as the child often takes trips to the United Kingdom with her mom and is no stranger to flying to big cities with her parents. A lot of kids don’t have that kind of normal. We’re curious to see what a not normal life is for Marlowe.

Go To The Countryside

Sienna loves the countryside, and because she is a big fan of the countryside, she and Marlowe visit it often, though she didn’t specify where the countryside was. In the countryside, she takes Marlowe riding and has no problem with them getting muddy. Maybe that is why she once gave Marlowe a rocking horse as a Christmas gift. Sienna also mentioned that the family had a bear dog (Newfoundland) that would have her falling flat on her face. It sounds like being in the country is a pretty unique and exciting experience for Marlowe, who’d probably have a good laugh at seeing her mum falling and covered in mud. For us though, we’ll probably just go to the country to get some fresh air and it wouldn’t be something that our kids have to do with us.

Quality Time

Not all parents emphasize spending quality time with their children, but Sienna and Tom make it a priority to spend quality time with Marlowe and each other as much as they can. Together, the ex-couple will take the child to the park or even to breakfast, and that seems to be their normal. It is good that both parents take time off their schedules to spend time with their daughter because when they are working they will probably be less available to her. Sienna also highlighted that her mom and sister, Savanna, were also a big part of her life. So, Marlow not only gets to spend time with her A-list parents, but she gets to spend them with her extended family as well, which includes some cousins who she’s had picnics with.

Model And Pose

Marlowe modeling and posing is not a hard and fast rule, but the kid made her modeling debut in American Vogue when she was just two years old! Her pictures were so adorable, and it was like her mom told her to smile and pose for the camera. The picture depicts her love for all things country, as she is wearing cowboy boots and there is a horse near to her and Marlowe. A country cottage is also pictured, and in one shot, Marlowe is with a cow. It is not every day that normal people get an opportunity to be featured in Vogue, but for Sienna Miller, being in the magazine is pretty normal, as she is no stranger to being pictured in magazines. Outside of magazines, whenever the mother and daughter are pictured, Marlowe is always camera-ready.

Keep It Stylish

Young Marlowe and North West have a lot in common, they have a better sense of style than we do. Well, maybe not a better sense of style, but they just have a lot more money than we do so their style is a lot more expensive. Anyway, Marlowe always keeps it stylish. She wears tutus, leggings, hats, socks, and anything that is cute on a kid. Even if her mom dresses her, Marlowe is always cute and pictured in the latest fashions. Her hair sometimes has a ponytail combo where some hair is up, and some are down, or it may just be wind-styled. We obviously expect Marlowe to be stylish most of the times because she is always going to be in the spotlight because of the profession that her parents have.

Homework Is A Priority

So, even rich kids have to do homework, yikes! This is pretty normal, right? Well for us, it is, but for the kids of A-listers, maybe not. Education is very important to Sienna and she wants to make sure that Marlowe has a solid education. She probably also does not want to be contacted frequently by Marlowe’s teacher. Sienna also often checks Marlowe’s homework (not something every parent has the patience to do). Having your kids do their homework helps not only to emphasize what was taught in school, but it also helps her to learn from a young age that she has to follow rules and fulfill her commitments. We don’t feel sorry for you Marlowe, not one bit because it is something that we all had to do.

Handwriting Book For Mommy

Marlowe’s mum loves to walk around with her handwriting book. Yup, it is pretty strange, but Sienna has often been pictured with Marlowe’s handwriting book as an accessory. How many parents actually walk around with their kids’ handwriting books? Well, we can point you to one. It, therefore, means that Marlowe has to have her writing completed in a timely manner so that her mom could take it with her when she is away on set filming. You may think it is a weird practice, but it is actually pretty cute that Sienna tries to keep something of Marlowe’s with her when she is away from her. A lot of parents actually keep their kids’ stuff with them. Nonetheless, it is a smart way for Sienna to ensure that Marlowe is getting her school work done.

Independence

Sienna promotes and encourages Marlowe’s independence. Marlowe is only five, an age where parents want to do everything for their children, but Sienna is not having that. Whilst she may want to cherish the time she spends with her daughter, she still encourages Marlowe to be strong and have her own personality. Sienna once commented that Marlowe was already “independent and strong." That is a pretty profound statement for a parent to make about their (then) three-year-old daughter. Independence is something that parents encourage when their kids are a bit older and closer to 18. Don’t be surprised if Sienna boasts that Marlowe is making her own meals and baking her favorite desserts.

No Boarding School

Despite attending boarding school, herself, it is not a vision that Sienna has for Marlowe. Sienna credited boarding school to shaping her into the individual that she is today. She has nothing against boarding school, as it was a part of their culture in the United Kingdom. However, sending Marlowe to boarding school will take her child away from her, and Sienna is not ready to be away from Marlowe for extended periods of time. Most parents will feel this way, but it is not a hard and fast rule. At some point Sienna, you will have to spend time without Marlowe because she is likely to have intentions of attending college in the United Kingdom or even in America. But you are years away from having to deal with that ordeal.

Simple Christmas Traditions

While some families have over-the-top Christmas traditions, Sienna’s are pretty simple and very uncomplicated, but they still require that you have some money or some travel miles. Christmas is spent in England and the mother-daughter duo is usually cuddled up and watching old movies. She and Marlowe would stuff themselves with food, especially turkey, and Sienna will drink some wine. It seems as if it is something they do every year together. However, we’re a bit curious to know what Tom Sturridge does over the holidays since there were no mentions of him participating in this simple Christmas tradition that Sienna and Marlowe have, especially since Sienna boasted that they did everything together and loved spending time with each other.

Ketchup For Flavor

It seems as though Marlowe, like many other children, has a serious problem eating healthy foods. In fact, Sienna described her daughter as being a picky eater. Sienna had to jump through a lot of hoops to get her daughter to eat some vegetables. She often had to disguise them or sneak them into meals to get her daughter to eat them. She is successful sometimes and her secret flavoring is ketchup. So, whenever Marlowe is being fussy about what she wants to eat, Sienna brings out the ketchup. Like all children her age, Marlowe does have some meals that she prefers such as chicken, pasta, mashed potatoes, and fish fingers. While we can agree with Marlowe that some vegetables are disgusting, we understand that they are healthy foods.

Wear It Even If Mom Does Not Like It

So while Sienna promotes Marlowe’s independence and sense of style, she sometimes has to coerce her daughter into wearing what she wants her to wear. Sienna has to do this because she noticed that Marlowe is biased towards the color pink and if given the chance, she will wear a pink outfit in different shades of pink. Sienna is not a fan of the pink obsession and she is not going to always win the battle of getting Marlowe to not wear her pink combinations. Despite her unique sense of style, Sienna sees Marlowe’s choice of clothing as a way for her to assert herself. It is too bad that a lot of parents don’t feel this way about their kid’s choice of clothing and will still try to tell them what to wear when they are teenagers.

Let Her Express Herself/Do Her Own Thing

Sienna is a fan of her daughter doing her own thing. She does not try to control her and gives her a lot of choices in life and in terms of her wardrobe. A lot of parents are actually not very comfortable with the idea of their children doing their own thing because they believe that their children should be controlled. While some control is good, children should still be allowed some room to express themselves, develop an individual personality and well do their own thing. Marlowe is in some good hands and has two parents who love her and care deeply about her, as evident by them spending time together for her sake. Her parents also seem to be doing a very good job, though they keep the affairs of their love lives and family life mostly private.
