Jim Carrey is one of the most famous comedic actors of our time. He has a one-of-a-kind personality and an acting ability like no other. He's famous for his wild, slapstick performances in films like The Mask, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Bruce Almighty, The Truman Show, Dumb and Dumber, and Liar Liar. He has an unforgettable talent and has had a huge impact on the entertainment industry.

While Carrey may be a genius comedic actor, he is not exactly the world's best boyfriend, or husband, for that matter. He dated around early on in his career and settled down with a wife in what seemed to be a serious relationship. However, once he got a taste of stardom, he dropped her and married his Dumb and Dumber castmate. Once that didn't work out, the actor was done with marriage and went on a dating spree.

He's had some notable relationships with recognizable women over the years like Renee Zellweger and January Jones. His most recent relationship ended tragically when Cathriona White passed away. It seems like Jim has no trouble when it comes to finding women but he cannot seem to make them stay very long.

Sources told People, Carrey can be a "hard guy to date." As an eccentric actor with manic depression, "Jim can run hot and he can run cold. He is someone who desperately needs to be with someone, then just as desperately needs to be alone. But at the same time, he can be "a very loving, very compassionate guy." So, which women fell for the funnyman over the years? Here are 15 surprising women Jim Carrey has been linked to.

Linda Ronstadt

Linda Ronstadt is not a very well-known name these days, but way back when, she was a popular singer. She was in the band The Stone Poneys from 1965 until 1968. The country artist went on to record 28 studio albums and she sang with legends like Paul Simon and Frank Zappa, according to Rolling Stone. Linda and Jim got together and started seeing each other romantically in the 1980s. The Bruce Almighty star had just moved to Hollywood and he met the singer when she attended one of his live performances at the Los Angeles' Comedy Store. In fact, he was still living with his parents at the time! Linda wanted Jim to come be an opening act on her next tour, and he replied, "No, but I'll go out with you."

Carrey later spoke about their relationship saying, "We were together for about eight months. She was absolutely incredible human being. She is an incredible human being," USA Today reported.

What is particularly interesting about the two's relationship is that Linda was 15 years older than Carrey! These days, she is 71 and living a relatively quiet life. Just think of how different her life would have been if she had stayed with Jim!

Melissa Womer

Melissa Womer, also known as Melissa Carrey, was a relatively unknown actress, having had roles in Man on The Moon (1999), Real Stories Of The Donut Men (1997), and The Yesterday Show with John Kerwin (2004.) She is mostly known for being Jim Carrey's first wife. The two met while Jim was a struggling comedian and she was a waitress at the comedy store he performed at.

They were married from 1987 until 1995. They had one child, a daughter, Jane Erin Carrey. Melissa was actually already three months pregnant when they tied the knot.

After Carrey started gaining some fame as an actor, their relationship suffered. According to Hit Berry, Jim was a man with "mixed personality," who could be a "caring husband and lover" one moment, and the next, he was a "loner." The actor was described as "carefree" and someone who acted "irresponsibly." Unfortunately, Lauren Holly, an actress who Jim met on the set of Dumb and Dumber, would tear the couple apart for good, eventually becoming his second wife. After fighting about the terms for more than two years, Jim and Melissa settled their divorce with a $25,000 per month child support agreement, along with a $3 million settlement for her marriage.

Lauren Holly

As previously mentioned, Lauren Holly met Jim Carrey, while he was still married to Melissa, on the set of the film, Dumb and Dumber, in 1994. They actually first met during auditions for Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Although she vehemently denies breaking up Carrey's family, it was pretty obvious that the two had fallen in love on the set of the movie, with Jim betraying his wife. The two said their "I do's" on top of a mountain on September 23, 1996. When Entertainment Weekly asked Jim if he was worried that Holly was only with him for his fame he said, "No. With Lauren, I know she'd be with me if I were on a soap. There are certain PR advantages to being with me, and Lauren knows that, too, but the bottom line is she's made her way in this world, she's proven herself."

Unfortunately, for the both of them, their marriage only lasted a total of nine months. Holly's career did not even benefit from being with the successful actor.

She still relatively unknown and continues to play small roles on television shows like Lucifer, Motive, and NCIS. However, she was entitled to half of Carrey's earnings during their marriage, including the $20 million he made from starring in the films, Liar Liar and The Cable Guy.

Laurie Holden

Laurie Holden is an actress, producer, and model who is mostly known for her role as Marita Covarrubias in The X-Files and Andrea in The Walking Dead. She has also been in films like Fantastic Four and The Mist. People reported that the actress was one of Jim Carrey's rebound girlfriends after his divorce from Lauren Holly, whose name is coincidentally and confusingly similar. Although there is not much information about their short-lived relationship, it is safe to assume that they did not end things on the worst of terms because even though their personal relationship didn't last, their professional relationship continued for years to come.

The two both had roles in the film, The Majestic, in 2002. She was also cast in the Dumb and Dumber sequel, Dumb and Dumber To in 2014. Holden is much more than an actress these days, as she is heavily involved with charity work and human rights activism.

She is a founding board member of the Canadian Somaly Mam Foundation and an advisory board member of the Somaly Mam Foundation in the United States as well. She also helps HIV-infected children with the organization, Home From Home. In 2014, she helped aid authorities in Columbia rescue 55 trafficked children. Jim Carrey is probably the last person on her mind these days.

January Jones

January Jones is another actress who Jim Carrey was linked to after his second divorce, according to People. She and the Bruce Almighty actor dated around 2002, reportedly. Around this time, Jones was just getting her start in Hollywood and had small roles in films like Bandits, Taboo, and Full Frontal, according to IMDB. So, her relationship with Jim was definitely helpful for her career because, at the time, he was starring in films like How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Me, Myself & Irene, and The Majestic.

Jones went on to get bigger and bigger roles in films like Anger Management, American Wedding, X-Men: First Class, and Seeking Justice. She got her big break on the hit drama series, Mad Men, in 2007. She is currently starring in the comedy series, The Last Man On Earth, alongside Will Forte. Page Six reported that January was dating The Bachelor star, Nick Viall, this past winter, but the alleged couple has denied that they are in a romantic relationship. However, it was reported that she spent her 40th birthday with the reality star, along with some of her co-stars, at Inkwell in Los Angeles back in January.

Anine Bing

Anine Bing is not necessarily a name you would know unless you are into fashion. She is a Danish model-turned-designer with a successful and stylish line of her own. After just about every top blogger was spotted sporting her fashion label at Coachella in 2013, she really blew up in the fashion world. She has a design studio in Los Angeles but keeps her personal life pretty low-key.

According to People, she was linked to Carrey after his second divorce from Lauren Holly. She is now happily married and a devoted mother of two, according to My Domaine. She is "super focused" on raising her kids but her work is still important to her, so it is essential that she finds balance in her life. Her biggest piece of advice for making it all work was to, "Just try to give yourself a break, and remember that the hardest parts won’t last forever and that whatever you’re doing for your family is the right way to do it." She also thinks that people should not create "unrealistic expectations" for themselves. It seems like she is a balanced person who is focused on being healthy and happy, and it is not too hard to see why she and Jim did not end up working out.

Renee Zellweger

After Jim starred in the film, Me, Myself & Irene, Jim Carrey found himself in his next serious relationship with the actress, Renee Zellweger. This was right around the time when Renee was getting her big break, starring in Bridget Jones Diary.

The two dated and even had a short-lived engagement. However, the couple was doomed, and only stayed together for a total of 18 months. According to The National Enquirer, the only reason that they even got engaged was that "she told him she wasn't going to hang around as his girlfriend unless he proposed within a year."

After an explosive fight, the two broke things off. A source said, "Jim is manic depressive. He's prone to wild mood swings and they have taken a toll on Renee." Although, it was also alleged that "Renee was no walk in the park either. She's got a temper to end all tempers." The actress also wanted to have children, and since Jim already had a teenage daughter with his ex-wife, Melissa, at the time, he was in no hurry to have any more babies. All in all, there were too many problems in their relationship to solve and it was over almost as quickly as it began.

Jenny McCarthy

Jim Carrey's next serious, high-profile relationship was with Jenny McCarthy in 2005, according to People. At the time, she is known for having roles in Scary Movie 3, What I Like About You, Dirty Love, John Tucker Must Die, and shows like Hope & Faith, One on One, and the Bad Girl's Guide. For five years, they were one of Hollywood's favorite celebrity couples. The public was completely shocked when they announced that they had split all of a sudden in 2010.

At the time, McCarthy gave a public statement, which read: "I will continue to be in his daughter's life and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart." The Dumb and Dumber star simply said via Twitter that he wished his ex-wife "the very best" and "S'okay!"

However, things may not have been as amicable as they seemed. In 2012, Jenny called out Jim on Howard Stern's radio show for not seeing her autistic son since their breakup, claiming that he had abandoned him after once being such a prominent figure in his life. However, in 2014, when the former Disney Channel star, Shia LaBeouf attacked her ex-husband for his parenting skills, she jumped to his defense saying, "You can attack myself, but don't bring my children into it. And I'm sure it's the same for Jim." She and Jim seem to be on better terms these days.

Anchal Joseph

In 2011, it was reported that Jim Carrey was on the rebound from Jenny McCarthy. He was spotted by the paparazzi holding hands with Anchal Joseph, a former contestant on Tyra Banks' model competition series, America's Next Top Model. She came in seventh in the overall competition, but she was still pursuing a modeling career at the time in New York City.

People reported that the two had gone out on a date night to see Laura Linney's play, Time Stands Still, in New York City in January. Carrey was 49 at the time, and Joseph was 24, making her 24 years his junior.

The date reportedly went well, as a source told Daily Mail, They were very romantic and there was lots of hand-holding." Other than this outing, there have been no other public spottings of the celebrity couple, so we are guessing that the relationship did not last long. These days, she has walked for the Red Dress Fashion Show for the American Heart Association, as well as several Miami Fashion Weeks, according to PopSugar. She appeared in Vogue Paris and Zoom magazine, as well as some modelling for Sofi Swimwear. She has a pretty active following of around 11,000 followers on Instagram.

Anastasia Volochkova

Jim was reported to be dating the Bolshoi Ballet soloist, Anastasia Volochkova in 2002. The actor met the Russian ballerina while he was vacationing in Russia. She was 26 at the time. Although his representatives refused to comment on the relationship, according to NY Daily News, during an interview at the time that they were rumored to be together, Jim said, "Love has brought me to my knees so many times. It's something I just value so much and yet I haven't been able to hold on to it. And I will. More than anything, that will be my thing in life, will be to set that up for myself."

However, the Russian dancer had no desire to settle down at the time, and the two did not last long. Prior to her relationship with Carrey, she had dated the Russian businessman, Sergei Plansky and the British millionaire, Anthony Kerman.

Looking back years later, Anastasia revealed in an interview with Russian Showbiz, "I had a [relationship] with Jim Carey at the time. This was the man I really loved, but we knew then, that I could not leave my work at the Bolshoi Theater, the creativity, and Russia, and he was not ready to leave Hollywood."

Allison McCurdy

Allison McCurdy is a film actress, although, she is not particularly well-known. She is 12 years younger than the Ace Ventura: Pet Detective actor, but Jim seems to like his women young. She is originally from Texas, and despite her alleged relationship with Carrey, her acting career never really took off. She never got her big break with a standout role. She is known for having small roles in relatively unknown films like Revamped (2007). Her last credited acting role was as the "Bikini Girl" in the series, Jon Benjamin Has A Van, in 2011.

Allison McCurdy and Jim Carrey were rumored to have gotten together for a short period of time in 2002, according to Who's Dated Who. This would have been shortly after his second divorce, so she was likely a rebound fling and nothing more. She also had a part as "Woman at Party" in Jim Carrey's film, Bruce Almighty, according to IMDB, so it is likely that the two met on the set of the film and briefly had a romantic relationship. Carrey seems to have a thing for meeting girlfriends on the set of his film. Not much other information has been found about the celebrities' relationship and they have never been photographed publicly together.

Charlotte Lewis

Charlotte Lewis is an English actress. She is surprisingly a more appropriate age for Carrey to date, being only five years younger than him, as he typically goes for women who are half his age. She made her film debut in the 1986 Roman Polanksy film, Pirates, as a teenager. Lewis is most well-known for her role in the film, The Golden Child (1986), alongside Eddie Murphy. Later, she appeared in the films, The Legend of the Emerald Princess, Stranger In The House, Tripwire, Storyville, Men of War, Decoy, and Hey DJ. Her last credited acting role was in 2003, and she is currently 50 years old.

Charlotte and Jim were rumored to have had a short relationship with Jim Carrey back in 1999 from January until around October, according to Who's Dated Who, which would have been two years after his divorce from Holly. It seems like around this time, Jim was just bouncing around from actress to model to whoever else he could find to fill the hole in his heart or entertain him during his spare time. The charming funnyman found it easy to attract women quickly but harder to keep them around for a long time.

Courteney Cox

We all known Courteney Cox as one of the six main characters of the hit show, Friends, but in 1994, she and Carrey both had roles in the film, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Now, we already know that the actor has a thing for getting with women on the set of his movies, so it would not be the most far-fetched idea that the two got together. It was never confirmed by either party, but it was rumored that Courteney and Carrey had a fling while filming. This was just around the time that Cox was starting to star on Friends, and Carrey was coming off of his success from The Mask.

Courteney was not married at the time. She and David Arquette did not tie the knot until 1999. After Friends ended in 2004, she went on to star in the series, Cougar Town, from 2009 until 2015. She and David, unfortunately, got a divorce in 2013. Cox seems to have taken a step back from her acting career and life in Hollywood to focus on raising her daughter, Coco. Her last credited acting role was in a TV movie back in 2014 and there is no word on her taking any new roles anytime soon.

Cathriona White

Cathriona White was Jim Carrey's most recent serious girlfriend to date, as far as the public knows. She was a makeup artist from Ireland, and she also worked as a stylist for some high-profile celebrities like David Hasselhoff and Lyndie Greenwood, according to The Sun. She and Jim Carrey started dating in 2012, broke up in 2013, and then got back together in May 2015. She reportedly suffered from depression and had threatened to take her own life before. The couple split up just days before she tragically took her own life in 2015. She had told friends beforehand that "she was madly in love with Jim and that their relationship was a rollercoaster... that she tied her identity to his and that she felt he (Carrey) was slipping away from her."

Despite not being together at the time of her passing, Jim carried her casket during the funeral proceedings in her native Ireland, according to Mirror UK. The actor even almost had to go to trial after her mother, Brigid Sweetman, and White's estranged husband, Mark Burton, tried to sue him for her wrongful passing. Her mother claimed that her daughter only took her own life after the actor infected her with various infections. The Bruce Almighty star maintained his innocence throughout the entire process.

Mystery Rebound Woman

It took years for Jim Carey to clear his name so that he did not have to face trial for the wrongful passing of his girlfriend, Cathriona White. The entire situation understandably affected Jim. White's mother and estranged husband tried to claim that Carrey was responsible for White taking her own life because he had infected her with certain diseases.. The actor's legal team actually concluded that the 2011 document, which supposedly showed that White had not had any diseases prior to meeting Jim, was a fake, clearing Jim's name once and for all, according to People.

However, it was also reported by numerous news outlets that Jim had encouraged White to use substances, verbal abused her, and used her for her body. In 2016, he was also spotted with this mystery woman on what appeared to be a date. They were photographed by the paparazzi leaving the restaurant, Katsuya, in Brentwood, California, according to The Daily Mail. The actor has since laid low, has not seen in public much, and did not really have any roles in films except for The Bad Batch and Dark Crimes in 2016. His most recent credited work is as Jeff/Mr. Pickles in the TV series, Kidding. It looks like his last relationship really took a toll on him and he may never be the same.
