Tom Cruise is a man of many faces. After all, he is one of the biggest stars Hollywood has ever seen. He has household name recognition all over the world just because he’s so passionate about everything he does. Plus, he used to be one of the biggest celebrity heartthrobs of his time. There was no teenage girl that didn’t have a crush on Tom Cruise during the mid-1980s. He was Hollywood’s golden boy, and everyone knew it.

Of course, all of that changed the moment Tom Cruise was introduced to Scientology. Little by little, he began changing his lifestyle and implemented new rules on his staff. And little by little, people began distancing themselves from him. Even though he is still worth a whopping $500 million, people don’t get excited about Tom Cruise movies like they used to before. That’s because these days he makes more headlines for his fuzzy personal life than for his work. Instead of being Hollywood’s golden boy, he is now the Church of Scientology’s golden boy. A lot of people have a hard time working with him because of his strict beliefs. With that being said, here are 15 rules that Tom Cruise’s staff must follow at all times.

You Can’t Talk About His Kids

Tom Cruise has three children. He adopted his first two children, Connor and Isabella, during his marriage with Nicole Kidman. His third wife Katie Holmes gave birth to his one and only biological child, Suri Cruise. There has been a lot of speculation about how much time he spends with Suri now that he’s no longer married to Katie. There have also been rumors stating that he and his daughter Isabella are no longer close. Either way, his staff absolutely cannot talk about his child, ever.

But that doesn’t mean Tom can’t talk about it. He once said, “If I don't talk about my religion, if I say I'm not discussing it or different humanitarian things I'm working on, they're like, 'He's avoiding it.' If I do talk about it, it becomes, 'Oh, he's proselytizing.'”

You Can’t Talk About Nicole Kidman

As many people remember, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman had a very messy break up. Nicole admitted that she was blindsided by their divorce. Plus, who can forget about how obsessed Tom used to be with his wife? That’s why their divorce never made sense to a lot of people. It was the Hollywood divorce of the year back in 2001. We can even go as far as saying that a lot of people were confused by his actions that year.

Plus, who can forget what Nicole said right after Tom pulled the plug on their marriage? She told a late night host that after a decade together, she can finally wear heels again. Ouch. That has got to sting! Still, don’t ever mention Nicole Kidman whenever you are around Tom Cruise. That topic is off limits, always.

You Can’t Talk About Katie Holmes

Nicole Kidman isn’t the only ex-wife that you can’t talk about. That’s right: don’t even think about muttering Katie Holmes’ name, especially if you are in the same room as Tom. Let’s just put it this way: Tom was blindsided himself when Katie announced that she was divorcing him. As we all know, he was head over heels in love with Katie. He was the perfect Hollywood wife for her, if you know what we mean.

“She is an extraordinary person,” he once said in an interview. “If you spent five minutes with her, you’d see it. Everything she does, she does with this beautiful creativity. She’s funny and charming, and when she walks into the room, I just feel better. I’m a romantic. I like doing things like creating romantic dinners, and she enjoys that.”

You Can’t Mention His Failures – Or His Height

We don’t think there is a person on this planet that knows Tom Cruise’s real height. As a matter of fact, we wouldn't be surprised if his own doctor was pressured to add just a few extra inches on to his official health records, just to make him look better. As a staff member there are two things that you can’t mention in front of Tom – his failures or his real height.

Trying to sound philosophical (and we know that a lot of celebrities do this), Tom once said, “I want a world without war, a world without insanity. I want to see people do well. I don't even think it's as much as what I want for myself. It's more what I want for the people around me. That's what I want.”

There’s Nothing He Can’t Do – Or Won’t Do

Tom is a go-getter. We know this, we’ve seen it, and we’ve definitely heard about it. There’s nothing that he can’t do or won’t do by himself. He even insists on doing all of his movie stunts on his own, regardless of how dangerous they may be. He’s a very competitive person and as his personal assistant, you have to be on your toes all the time. In other words, Tom Cruise is a very high-maintenance man. He probably thinks that he can run his show all on his own!

He once said, "I've gotten very good at scheduling my life, scheduling the scene and preparing myself for knowing, saving the energy, consuming the energy, knowing when to go for it and having the available reserves to be able to do that. You have to think about that, because it's endurance."

Don’t Criticize Scientology

Leah Remini once said that Tom Cruise has the power to end Scientology if he wanted to. And we believe that statement to a certain extent. As the church’s poster boy, he can easily destroy everything by simply walking away from the institution. But we don’t ever see him doing that. He’s too deep in, so to speak. He needs the Church of Scientology as much as the church needs him. It’s a complex relationship that’s hard to explain from the outside.

Also, at this point Tom knows that being a Scientologist is part of his public persona. He doesn’t want to look like a quitter. Tom once said, “It's well known I'm a Scientologist, and that has helped me to find that inner peace in my life and it's something that has given me great stability and tools that I use.”

Don’t Criticize His Career Choices

When Tom Cruise signs up for a project, you better believe it that he’s going to give it his all. He doesn’t do anything less than perfect, whether it’s from a professional or personal standpoint. Yes, he’s had plenty of box office successes during the course of his career, but he’s had just as many failures. And if there is one F-word that Tom absolutely hates, it’s "failing." He’s not a failure.

Tom also wants us to believe that he is very open to other people and their personal beliefs. He once said, “I'm a good listener. I think it's the one characteristic that's most important. I've always been that way. Not that I take all the advice, but you've got to listen to it and have the courage to make your own decision. And just go for it.”

You Can’t Criticize His Beliefs

With everything said so far, Tom also doesn’t want you to criticize his beliefs. He truly believes that Scientology helped cure his dyslexia. He strongly believes in the healing powers of Scientology, and does not want any outside opinion to interfere with that.

He explained, “When I was about 7 years old, I had been labeled dyslexic. I'd try to concentrate on what I was reading, then I'd get to the end of the page and have very little memory of anything I'd read. I would go blank, feel anxious, nervous, bored, frustrated, dumb. I would get angry.” Clearly he believes in Scientology whole-heartedly and does not take too kindly to anyone questioning his ideals and values  – especially his staff, who he pays.

Staff Must Be Tight-Lipped At All Times

We are pretty sure that a lot of things probably go on behind closed doors for Tom Cruise, his friends, his family and his staff. But it’s not like we will ever hear about it. That’s because Tom expects everyone in his inner circle to be tight-lipped at all times. Scientologists don’t turn in other Scientologists. Also, Tom has very strong opinions about a lot of different topics. And he definitely doesn’t want you or any of his staff members to mock him, criticize him, talk about him, or ridicule him behind his back. That’s going against the rules.

Tom once said, “I've never done work for money, ever. If your choices are based on grosses and the film doesn't do well, what does that mean? It leaves you with nothing.”

No Speaking To The Press

Not only do you have to be very careful about what you say to Tom, but you also have to be very careful about the things you say about Tom behind his back. As an employee, you are not allowed to speak to the press unless you are his official spokesperson. Even then, Tom writes up his own public statements. But this doesn’t surprise us. A lot of Hollywood stars don’t want their staff members speaking to the press, ever. As a public figure and celebrity, Tom needs to trust the people he employs.

Tom has said in the past, “I've been chased by paparazzi, and they run lights, and they chase you and harass you the whole time. It happens all over the world, and it has certainly gotten worse. You don't know what it's like being chased by them.”

No Taking Photos

Tom Cruise is a self-conscious and borderline obsessed about his image. He wants to look like he’s in control at all times. According to a few reports, he hates being caught off guard. After all, Tom is one of the biggest Hollywood stars in the world. He can’t have a bad day and he certainly can’t look like he’s having a bad day, either. That’s why it’s suggested that you don’t take any photos of Tom, especially when he least expects it. A lot of celebrities are the same way, believe it or not. They only want to present their good side, and nothing less.

Yet, Tom doesn’t want us to believe this. He once said, “I don't hide from cameras or anything. It doesn't bother me. I don't seek our press for the women I'm dating, but if it finds me, it finds me.”

You Can Never Step Foot In Paris

As a member of Tom Cruise’s official staff, you are expected to travel with him everywhere he goes. And yes, the man is on the go a lot! He films his movies all over the world and splits a lot of his time between The United States and Europe. But if there’s one place that you won’t be traveling to with Tom, it’s Paris. That’s because he’s persona non grata in the City of Lights.

According to reports, Scientology is not recognized as a church in France. From what we know Tom Cruise secretly tried to influence French politicians and lawmakers in one way or another. The French government was so disgusted by his behavior that they said he was no longer welcomed in the city. To make matters worse, they even called him a militant for the organization. Talk about a deep burn.

Top Security At All Times

As one of the richest men in the entertainment industry, Tom Cruise knows that he has to watch his back at all times. He’s not the kind of person that can just pop in and out of a Whole Foods or check in for his flight at the airport all by himself. He needs his security detail to come with him at all times. They always have to be on high alert, should anything happen. And they always have to be prepared to put their own lives on the line, just in case. In addition, they can’t let anything leak to the press.

His security team also has to make sure Tom never trips or looks foolish in public. Tom once said, “Have you ever gotten the feeling that you aren't completely embarrassed yet, but you glimpse tomorrow's embarrassment?”

You Will Be Conducting Auditions

Now, this has never been confirmed, but reports in the past have indicated that Tom likes for his future girlfriends to “audition” for him. By auditioning, a handful of pre-selected women need to show off their best stuff in front of Tom’s staff before they make it to the next level. Tom doesn’t have the time in his schedule to date or do these kinds of things on his own. He has his people pick out his future love interests and they make sure that they are well vetted before he even meets them.

Tom once admitted in an interview “I feel lonely at times, but I don't want to get into a relationship with someone if it is not right. I'm not the type of person who just does things to do them.”

It’s Difficult To Escape

At least there’s one positive thing we can say about working for Tom Cruise: if you decide to be a part of his team, you are set for life. That’s because he’ll want to keep you for as long as he possibly can. In other words, it’s difficult to escape. Tom knows that he has to keep his friends close, but his enemies even closer. That’s because he has so many secrets and information that he’s afraid might be leaked to the press. That’s why he doesn’t want to take any chances. As a staff member, you are not only expected to always be on call, but to be with him long term. There are no short-term assignments when it comes to Tom Cruise. You are in it for the long haul, whether you are prepared for it or not.

He once put it this way, “I'm an all-or-nothing kind of person, and when I become interested in something, I give it my all.”
