Have you ever wondered if doing yoga was enough to keep you fit? We all know that yoga is suppose to be good for relaxation and flexibility, but can it be all you need for optimal fitness? Do we really need to combine it with lifting all those weights and doing lots of cardiovascular exercises like running and biking to attain that fit body? Well, the world’s biggest exercise science association, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) says there are several things that define fitness related to a person’s health and physical activity. They claim there are four things that you can do to help aid in your fitness and they are cardiorespiratory fitness, muscle fitness, flexibility and body composition.

It's no wonder our beloved celebrities have found yoga as a form of fitness and have incorporated it into their daily lives. Not just to be able to cope with the constant grind of being a celebrity, but to enhance their physique and performing abilities. Celebrities like Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Biel, Kristen Bell, Colin Farrell, Ashton Kutcher and even Bon Jovi have found yoga as a way to improve and enhance their lives, and the celebrity list goes on and on. Today we will look at just a handful of some of our favorite celebrities that have found doing yoga improves their outlook on life and keeps them in tip-top shape.

Lea Michele - From Glee Geek To Very Sleek

The 31-year old star of ‘Glee’ took up doing meditation and yoga to help her cope with the death of her boyfriend and co-star on Glee, Cory Monteith. Taking the advice of a friend, she when on a spiritual retreat and learned to do yoga and meditation techniques. Leah made fitness her mission and took to Instagram, sharing impressive photos of her flaunting her toned physique. She said, "I'm feeling so inspired by the responses about being more active. What if we made this a challenge for us all?! I would love to see your fitness photos and hear some of your tips. You could share them with me and each other using #YouFirstFitness! Are you in?! ??????" So happy she found something good, from something so tragic.

Lady Yoga Gaga

The 31-year-old singer has let it be known for some time now that she suffers from fibromyalgia which is a chronic pain disorder. At one time, she was even forced to postpone a leg of her world tour because her pain was so bad. She has been openly honest about her health struggles and even did a documentary called ‘Gaga: Five Foot Two’ in which she talked about it in great detail.

She found that by doing yoga and Pilates, it helped her with the pain and she took to Instagram sharing lots of poses and statements like, “Slowly coming back to life,” and “Tough girl on the mend,”. The six-time Grammy winner has assured her fans that she is getting better every day by doing her yoga and pilates routines.

Jennifer Aniston's Yogalosophy

What list would not be complete without Jennifer Aniston on it, right? The long-term enthusiast and devotee of yoga credits it with keeping her mind and body in check. Longtime friend and yoga instructor Mandy Ingber has been teaching Jennifer yoga for more than 15 years and said that Aniston needed to develop a better connection to her emotions, body and mind. Jennifer claims, “When I started doing yoga with Mandy, I noticed many things. My legs getting leaner. My arms getting stronger, and most importantly, I noticed an inner strength”.

As Jennifer follows Mandy’s ‘Yogalosophy’ it has given her amazing growth as a person to be a more empowered, grounded and confident individual. Jennifer even admits to taking Mandy’s DVD, Yogalosophy with Mandy Ingber, with her when she is away on set or on vacation.

Gisele Bündchen Keeps Tom Happy With Her Yoga Body

Not only conscious of her body but the environment, supermodel Gisele Bündchen has posted some really health-oriented messages on her Instagram like, 'We all have two homes: Our Earth and our body. Let's take care of them.' She is such a hardcore avid yogi she even attended a three-day silent retreat back in 2014. She has two kids, Vivian and Benjamin, who have inherited her love of yoga and Gisele loves to post her doing yoga with her kids.

Despite her busy schedule, she always manages to find the time to meditate and do yoga even if she is far away from home. For her millions of followers, she has posted pics of her doing yoga in her hotel room and even on the beach. She once stated to Vogue, It’s a different awareness and new level of peace. Once you learn how to do it, it’s yours forever—you can always access that. “

Cindy Crawford- Model, Mom, Meditator

Supermodel mom Cindy Crawford might be 52-years old but you could never tell that by looking at her amazingly fit physique. She looks as toned and tight as ever and only announced her official retirement from modeling two years ago at the age of 50 after being a supermodel for 30 years.

Cindy is a huge fan of yoga and keeps in shape by doing it regularly along with other things like Pilates, circuit-training and of course a healthy diet. She posts on Instagram her doing various yoga poses and has a very positive outlook on her life. She told Celebrity Health Fitness, "You wake up at 40, or almost 50, and you realize, I'm still me. There's still some yearning for what was—but what would I trade for it? What day or what experience of my life would I give up to be younger? Nothing."

Miley Cyrus - Millennial Queen Of The Wrecking Ball

The 25-year-old singer has an incredibly active life but that does not keep her from exercising regularly to stay healthy and fit. Miley is an extremely flexible individual so it is only fitting that she is a seasoned yogi. She is very dedicated to a style of yoga called Ashtanga, which is physically demanding and it helps build core strength.

With lots of practice, she has increased her strength and flexibility and proudly shows it off on her Instagram posts. She often shows photos of herself in seriously awesome yoga poses and her yoga-toned physique is nothing short of amazing. On one of her Instagram shots, she captioned a pose with, "Gotta do yoga not for my body but for my mind! DO YOGA or GO CRAZY!" Good for you girlfriend!

Madonna Wanna Yoga

The 59-year-old queen of fit, Madonna is another celebrity that has mastered Ashtanga yoga. Again, this style of yoga encourages more dynamic transitions and movements between the different positions. Her enthusiasm for Ashtanga has influenced her work and she has even incorporated the opening chant in her Ray-Of-Light album. She even went so far as to play an Ashtanga teacher in a movie she did called The Next Best Thing.

Madonna started practicing yoga in 1996, to get back in shape after the birth of her daughter, Lourdes. She told Motley Health, “Yoga is a metaphor for life. You have to take it really slowly. You can’t rush. You can’t skip to the next position. You find yourself in very humiliating situations, but you can’t judge yourself. You just have to breathe, and let go. It is a workout for your mind, your body and your soul.”

Adam Levine - Let's Get Namast-y

Ok, so yoga is not just for the gal celebrities, but for the guys as well. Maroon 5’s frontman Adam Levine was named one of the sexiest men alive and here is the reason why - he stays fit with yoga. His dedication to yoga is strong and before each performance, he does at least one hour of it. The 39-year-old reality TV king, actor and Rockstar is a multitasker and holds it all together by having a centered attitude from doing a ton of yoga.

With such a hyperextended schedule, it's a wonder Adam can even catch his breath, let alone catch it as calmly and deeply as he does. Yoga anchors him and he said, "I can be all over the map. Yoga has given me the ability to be more focused and make better decisions that come from a clear place. Maybe more than anything else, yoga teaches me to be still and calm under challenging circumstances."

Beyoncé Crazy In Love With Yoga

Known to practice yoga as just a small part of her fitness and health routine, Beyoncé certainly has reaped its bodybuilding benefits. Even though her workout regimen is extreme by working out five days a week and practicing her dance moves seven days a week, she incorporates yoga at least one time a week. Besides eating a balanced diet, she runs five days a week for fifteen minutes each time and she does weightlifting as well.

Helping to keep her body bodacious, she even includes spontaneous yoga poses while she is out and about on vacation. On social media, she has shared photos of her wearing her Ivy Park line of activewear clothing that she launched two years ago. There is even a Beyonce themed yoga class which has become very popular throughout the US.

Kate Hudson - She Swears By The Pants

38-year-old Golden Globe winner Kate Hudson practices a form of yoga called Kundalini yoga. It is an ancient yoga style that incorporates breathing and chanting exercises with meditation. Kate told PEOPLE in an interview, “I have had the pleasure of practicing with Guru Jagat, and Kundalini has been one of my favorite forms of meditation and yoga practice.”

The mother of two has a passion for supporting and motivating women to be healthy and live active lives so she co-founded Fabletics, a women’s sportswear, footwear and accessories online retailer. She shares her favorite outfits online each month and says, "Meditation has been the most helpful and life-changing thing for me. You can feel the difference when you meditate on a regular basis. At least I can.... I meditate 20 minutes in the morning and I try to do another 20 minutes in the afternoon." I guess with two kids you need to find some way to be grounded.

Meghan Markle From Suits To Yoga Pants

Meghan Markle, Harry’s flexible fiancee has declared that yoga is her thing and she is true to her word. The 36-year-old royal bride-to-be has been doing yoga since she was very young and does it at least a couple of hours a week either in a studio or at her home. Her mother, Doria Ragland, was a yoga instructor in their hometown of LA and Meghan has been hooked ever since. “My mom was a yoga instructor so that practice is in my blood. There are so many benefits that come with the practice of yoga…increased flexibility and muscle strength, greater happiness, increased mental focus, a greater ability to relax, decreased anxiety and better sleep.” The star of Suits posed for Best Health magazine in various flexible yoga positions and showed off her toned body wearing affordable brands like the Gap and H&M.

Kim Kardashian - Naked And Not Afraid 

Can anyone really keep up with the Kardashian’s? On one of the premieres of Kourtney & Kim Take New York the scene was that Kim decided to hold a session doing naked yoga in a hotel room with a few of her lady friends. They strip down into their bra and panties and get started. The strapping yoga instructor gets totally naked and the lesson begins but is quickly interrupted when Kim’s then-hubby Kris walks in and totally freaks out. Kim tries to defend her yoga in the buff, but it's too little too late.

Kris and Kim obviously had bigger issues than the naked yoga and it was probably the beginning of the end for them. Lucky for Kim, Hubby Kanye has no issues doing the naked yoga thing and the superstar couple even claim that the private sessions are a way to keep them calm and it spices up their love life.

David Beckham Sure Can Bend

Shona Vertue is a superstar when it comes to the world of yoga. The vibrant, young fitness guru taught David Beckham how to bend and fix his aches and pains through yoga. A statement on the cover of her book from Beckham says, “Shona changed my perspective on yoga. Working with her made my aches and pains after playing disappear. She is the best.” Wow, what a great testimonial that is to help her book sales. She taught a friend of Beckham’s who recommended he take a session and he is probably the reason she became famous enough to write a book called The Vertue Method. The book is a blend of meditation exercises, yoga and weight training and she even confirmed that Beckham follows her plan which is a tailored to his body.

Victoria Beckham - Posh Yogi

Hitting not only the mattress, but the yoga mat alongside her footballer hubby David, is 43-year old Posh Spice Victoria Beckham. The happy couple practice yoga together and they have claimed it helps their relationship. For about an hour, two times a week the power couple do power yoga - how appropriate. They also claim that is is a very intimate experience and they learn to become one with each other. As they breathe, stretch and move together in unison they find it's a great way for them to communicate without having to talk.

After almost 19 years of marriage and four kids later, they must be doing something right and maybe yoga is the reason why. It must keep them really mellow because I don’t know a man alive who would approve of her £1.5 million dollar Birkin handbag collection.

Sting - Yoga Is Like Music, There Is No End To It

The singer Sting might be 67-years-old, but his body is fit and toned and men who are half his age envy him. Full of energy, Sting and his wife Trudie, who have been married for 34 years, are into the yoga styles, Ashtanga and Jivamukti. Either alone or with his wife, every day before breakfast he does 60 to 90 minutes of yoga. Sting has done yoga for about 20 years and says, “Yoga has enriched my life by allowing me to improve physically; which is very inspiring, especially as you get older. I tour an awful lot, and being on the road is not always easy... Yoga is a great way to offset the downsides of touring by bringing much-needed peace and sanity into what can be a hectic life. Like music, yoga is a journey - one that is long enough so you keep developing, and keep learning. I don't see an end to it.”
