Generally, in relationships, one person is taller than the other, which may sound like stating the obvious but there are definitely relationships where the two people involved are the exact same height. It's unclear what the percentage of that might be, but there's no doubt that it happens! What's more common though, is that the woman is shorter than the man most of the time, which happens to be the case for the women on this list but with a slight twist. Saying that these women are shorter than their significant other would be an understatement as most are a foot or more shorter than their man! However, they don't let the distance dampen their relationship, and some even embrace it enough to joke about it (number four, specifically!)

Some of these women are so short they would be on this list no matter who they dated, and others make the gap more significant by dating men larger than life. There are also women who are average height or taller but do themselves no favors by dating giants (something that's common with number nine). Most of the women on this list are actresses, so their height is somewhat surprising as it doesn't always come off that way on screen. However, seeing pictures of them beside their boyfriend or husband hammers home just how tiny they are. Or, maybe, they only seem tiny because they're standing next to a giant? Either way, here are 15 Attractive Celebs Who Need A Step Stool To Reach Their Man!

Jennifer Connelly (5'6") and Paul Bettany (6'3")

Make no mistake about it, Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany may have the smallest height gap of any couple on this list, but it doesn't change the fact that Connelly has to stretch high on her tippy toes if she wants to get to her husbands level. At 5'6," Connelly isn't even that short by traditional standards, but when she's paired up with the 6'3" Bettany, the nine-inch difference comes into play. Regardless, the height difference didn't even cross their minds when they first met, as they were too busy admiring one another to notice.

The two actors met in 2001 the way most actors do, on the set of a movie, which happened to be A Beautiful Mind, a movie that would see Connelly win an Oscar. They both took a liking to each other, with Bettany being amazed by how beautiful Connelly was and Connelly being won over when he broke out his guitar and started playing. Two years later, they got married and seventeen years after that, they are still going strong. They haven't appeared together that often on screen, but Bettany did step behind the camera to direct Connelly in Shelter, an experience they agree was tough but they enjoyed and would be open to again, so look out for that!

Miley Cyrus (5'5") and Liam Hemsworth (6'3")

The on-again, off-again relationship between Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth may finally be headed to a wedding, which means when they're told "you may now kiss the bride" they'll have to decide whether Cyrus is going to stand on her tippy toes or Hemsworth is going to crouch down to deliver the kiss. Cyrus is a respectable 5'5" but comes off as short when she's beside her 6'3" fiancé who has a height advantage of ten-inches. However, according to Sarah Jessica Parker, Cyrus is not that short (weird I know but stick with me) because after she met Cyrus on the set of Sex and the City 2, she described the pop star as a giant similar in stature to a Viking. It's a weird statement to make when you factor in that Cyrus is only two inches taller than Parker.

Anyway, Cyrus and Hemsworth's relationship has been all over the place since they met on the set of the movie The Last Song back in 2009. They dated, got engaged but then broke it off, got back together, sparked a rumor of a secret marriage only to deny it but later admit they were engaged again. They both seem to feel like the time apart has helped them grow and mature, and are adamant that this time the relationship will last, at least for one more song.

Elsa Pataky (5'3") and Chris Hemsworth (6'3")

At least Elsa Pataky isn't alone when it comes to looking tiny beside her husband, Chris Hemsworth, as even most of his fellow superheroes in the MCU have to look up in order talk to the 6'3" God of Thunder. Unfortunately for Pataky, though, at only 5'3," she has to look up just a bit higher than others to complete the 12-inch-height gap. Pataky and Hemsworth met in 2010 and wasted no time getting married that same year. They have three kids together and both enjoy careers in acting, albeit Hemsworth has had a bit more success than Pataky. Hemsworth has branched out into more dramatic roles throughout his career but is best known for playing Thor. Pataky is probably most recognized for her role in the last three Fast and Furious movies, except for in Spain, where she's from, as she appeared in countless movies and TV shows at the beginning of her career.

The couple finally appeared on screen together this year in 12 Strong, that is if you don't count when Pataky filled in for Natalie Portman to kiss Thor at the end of Thor: The Dark World.

Not many due considering her face wasn't shown, she was uncredited and most people are probably reading about it for the first time now.

Gwen Stefani (5'6") and Blake Shelton (6'5")

By all accounts, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton's relationship shouldn't work, and even they've acknowledged that too. Aside from them both being musicians and appearing as coaches on the music competition show The Voice, the similarities end there and the differences pile on. He's a country singer and she's a pop star. He dresses in flannels and Levi's and she has her own fashion line. He doesn't shy away from a BBQ and she exercises non-stop to keep her physique. He's 6'5" and she's 5'6". And yet, the relationship works, so maybe there is some truth to the cliché opposites attract.

They met on the set of The Voice and ended up bonding over their recent divorces, of all things. They initially just helped each other out as friends but over time they grew closer and finally became romantically involved. They've been together for a few years now but neither is trying to rush into another marriage, although they do think about it from time to time. When they sit beside each other on The Voice, the height difference is noticeable, but doesn't quite stand out like it does now when they're photographed together in public. It's even more glaring when they perform together on stage together, as even in heels, Stefani would need to lower Shelton's microphone if she wanted to use it.

Khloe Kardashian (5'10") and Tristan Thompson (6'9")

Khloe Kardashian is hands down the tallest woman on this list, at 5'10," but she is also dating the tallest man on this list, NBA player Tristan Thompson, who is a towering at 6'9." According to Kardashian, she's always felt massive next to her siblings, who are significantly shorter than her, which might be the reason why she's constantly dating NBA players and men much taller than her. To put Kardashian and Thompson's height difference into perspective, for all the Game of Thrones fans out there, picture Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo and you'll get a good sense of the gap between the two. That may sound like a strange comparison, but they dressed as those characters for Halloween so it's a perfectly normal statement to make.

Kardashian and Thompson recently had a baby girl, and even though the relationship hit a rough patch (Thompson may not have been the best boyfriend while she was pregnant) they seem to be working through it, mainly for their kid.

However, apparently, Thompson isn't the most liked person amongst the Kardashian family, which is a change considering the Kardashians are usually the ones not well liked.

Reese Witherspoon (5'1") and Jim Toth (6'1")

Even being married to the shortest man on this list couldn't help Reese Witherspoon, as she is a whole foot shorter than her husband, Jim Toth. Witherspoon is used to the short jokes by now though, as she's been hearing them since she first tried to break into the industry. Early on in her career, Witherspoon was told by casting agents and producers that she wasn't tall enough or attractive enough to have a successful career in acting.

Once again, the higher-ups in the entertainment industry showed they have no idea what they're talking about since Witherspoon has gone on to win awards and praise, and reach a top level of fame throughout her time in Hollywood.

Luckily, her experiences with people on the business side of the industry didn't tarnish her view on all of them as she would go on to date and marry talent agent Toth. She's even represented by the company he works for, Creative Arts Agency, but she isn't one of his clients. He does have a few big name clients though, like Matthew McConaughey and Chris Evans. They didn't meet through the agency either but instead at a good old fashion bar, when Toth saved her from one of his drunk friends who was giving her a hard time. She loved his kindness and ended up getting married in 2011.

Jessica Simpson (5'3") and Eric Johnson (6'3")

Jessica Simpson has transitioned over the years from a career in singing and acting to one in fashion, launching the Jessica Simpson collection and over time find even more success in that industry as the company has become a billionaire-dollar empire! Her own fashion line also means a wide array of free shoes to choose from, most notably heels, which she is always seen wearing, possibly to help her get closer to her husband, Eric Johnson's, eye-level. Johnson used to play to tight end in the NFL so it should go without saying that he's a big boy, standing at 6'3" tall, which is a foot taller than Simpson. Hence the always wearing heels part.

After Simpson went through a bad break up in 2009 with former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who dumped her the day before her birthday, she bounced back the following year with a better birthday as she met her future husband Johnson. He waited only six months before popping the question, but they wouldn't get married until 2014. Simpson later jokingly claimed that the reason they waited so long to tie the knot was that Johnson kept knocking her up.

Kristen Bell (5'1") and Dax Sheppard (6'2")

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard may be one of Hollywood's most adorable couples, but they are also one of the most mismatched couples with a height difference of 13 inches. Oh, and they're also somewhat of a rights activist couple as they got engaged in 2009 but held off on getting married until gay marriage was legal in the United States. They're even a work couple as they routinely show up in the same movies and TV shows in various capacities, all the way from co-stars to quick cameo appearances.

They have both found a moderate amount of success throughout their careers, with Shepard even transitioning to writing and directing for movies like Hit and Run and CHIPS, and he doesn't shy away from giving Bell a role in them. She seems to have found her place in television, starring in the highly-original hit TV show The Good Place. They have a great working relationship and a great home relationship too as they've been married for nearly five years and have two kids together. The one thing they do stress about their loving relationship though, and what they want people to know, is that it didn't happen overnight but took time and hard work, but it was worth it in the end.

Sofia Vergara (5'8") and Joe Manganiello (6'5")

Sofia Vergara may have been concerned about the age difference between her and Joe Manganiello before she decided to date him, and she might still find the cultural differences shocking and amusing, but it doesn't appear that the height difference ever crossed her mind. Surprisingly, at 5'8," Vergara wouldn't seem that short beside most men, but unfortunately for her, she married the 6'5" Manganiello, and now not even heels can close the gap that much. All of the differences aside, they quickly realized how perfect they were for each other, and didn't waste any time in proving their love for one another, as after only a year and a half of dating, they got married.

They've both forged successful acting careers, however, Manganiello's hasn't quite reached Vergara's level just yet. He recently had a minor role in the movie Rampage whereas she has been named the highest-paid TV actress five years in a row. Vergara did joke once when she was spotted without her husband at the Emmys that she told him to stay at home because he's too hot and too tall. Jokes aside, it's pretty clear that the 10-inch-height gap between the two doesn't seem to bother her one bit.

Mila Kunis (5'4") and Ashton Kutcher (6'2")

One of the only times Mila Kunis seemed to have an issue with Aston Kutcher in relation to height was when he was at the "height" of his career and she thought he was too crazy and not the guy she used to know. Aside from that, rather than looking short beside her husband, Kunis manages to deal with the 10-inch-height difference. She even listed his 6'2" frame as being one of the qualities that stood out to her when she spotted him at an award show years later and realized she was attracted to him.

After being in a TV relationship on That 70's Show, Kunis and Kutcher shocked everyone, including their former castmates, when they announced they were dating in real life.

They did try first to just be friends, and then friends with benefits, but ultimately decided to give a real relationship a shot. Ironically, at the time, they both starred in movies that dealt with that exact premise (Friends With Benefits and No Strings Attached) but never clued into it. Kunis admitted that, "If we just paid attention to these movies, we should know that sh*t like this does not work out in real life." It did, however, lead to them getting married and having kids together.

Elisha Cuthbert (5'3") and Dion Phaneuf (6'3")

It might seem odd to compare Elisha Cuthbert to Khloe Kardashian but they do share one similarity in life, which is they enjoy a man in a jersey. However, Cuthbert is into hockey players rather than basketball players. After dating the loud mouth Sean Avery for a while, Cuthbert moved on, and up (in size), to the relatively soft-spoken defenceman Dion Phaneuf, who is 5 inches taller than Avery and a whole foot taller than Cuthbert. They got engaged in 2012 and married in 2013 in a small ceremony on Prince Edward Island.

Cuthbert's career has slowed down significantly after finding success early on as a host for the TV show Popular Mechanics for Kids and a role on the hit show 24. Her world recently collided with her husbands though, as she had a supporting role in the hockey movie Goon: Last of the Enforcers. And now, Phaneuf's life will collide with hers as he was recently traded to the Los Angeles Kings, which might make it easier for her to go on auditions between games. Plus, maybe now, just like Cuthbert had to sit in the stands and watch his games, he might have to sit on set and watch her act.

Isla Fisher (5'2") and Sacha Baron Cohen (6'3")

Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen may prefer to keep their relationship private from the public but one thing they can't hide is their height disparity. The 6'3" Cohen towers over his wife Fisher, who is only 5'2," any time they are photographed in public or on the red carpet. Both have found success in acting, specifically in comedies, however, the style of comedy they find themselves in couldn't be any more different. Fisher is known more for traditional comedies whereas Cohen creates eccentric, over the top characters that he portrays in mockumentary films like Borat.

The pair hit it off after meeting in Australia, where Fisher is from, in 2002, and have been together ever since. They got married in a private wedding in 2010 and have three kids together. They may not talk about their relationship that often in the media but if they do they aren't afraid to bring up, or joke about, their height difference. Fisher pointed out that both of their careers started to take off around the same time so they started getting targeted even more by the paparazzi but admitted it probably had a lot more to do with how they look side by side. She jokingly pointed out that, "Sacha's so tall while I'm so small, I'm like a circus freak!"

Lisa Bonet (5'2") and Jason Momoa (6'4")

Jason Momoa is one of those rare people who actually got to meet his childhood crush, who was Lisa Bonet, also known as Denise Huxtable from The Cosby Show. However, he took it one step further and ended up marrying her! He did admit though that he waited until after they had their second child to tell her that he's had a crush on her since he was 8 years old. The age gap between the couple is fairly significant, at eleven years, but it's the height difference that truly stands out as the Alpha male Momoa is 14 inches taller than his loving wife Bonet.

When the pair first met, it was love at first sight for Momoa, obviously, however, as much as Bonet loves him now she did admit it wasn't instant for her.

Maybe if it was the other way around and Bonet watched Khal Drogo when she was growing up then he could've been her childhood crush. Except, what 8-year-old would be allowed to watch Game of Thrones? Anyway, they met in 2005 and got married in 2007, had two kids and then got married for real in 2017 because apparently, the first one wasn't technically official.

Jada Pinkett Smith (5'0") and Will Smith (6'2")

Considering Jada Pinkett Smith is the shortest woman on this list, it should come as no surprise that the height difference in her relationship is one of the biggest at 14 inches. And that's even with her husband, Will Smith, being one of the shorter men on this list. The only time height seemed to play a factor in their relationship, though, was the potential one they could have had on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Jada auditioned to play Will's girlfriend on the show but was told by the producers that she was too short and the role went to Nia Long, who was only two inches taller. Guess she should have worn heels to the audition. Despite what seems to be a nonstop rumor that they are getting divorced, Jada and Will are enjoying their years of marriage that started all the way back in 1997, and led to two kids, Jaden and Willow. Sure, they've had their ups and downs, and Will even said they visited a marriage counsellor on more than one occasion, but they've stuck together through it all.

Their secret isn't anything complex either, as Jada stated they "just really like each other."

They are the definition of a Hollywood power couple too, especially recently with Jada having somewhat of a career resurgence with a steady role on the TV show Gotham and a part in the critical and box office success Girl Trip.

Hayden Panettiere (5'2") and Wladimir Klitschko (6'6")

Of every couple on this list, it's not an exaggeration to say that Hayden Panettiere really does need a step stool in order to reach her husband Wladimir Klitschko to give him a kiss. At 5'2," Panettiere isn't even the shortest woman on this list but when she's standing beside Klitschko, who is a massive 6'6" former heavyweight boxing champion, she is 16 inches shorter! Even hearing that doesn't truly prepare someone for when they see it in a picture, as it looks more like an optical illusion at first glance. Panettiere and Klitschko met back in 2009 and had an on-again, off-again relationship until they finally decided to settle down for good and got engaged in 2013. They are aware of how unusual they look together too and don't shy away from joking about it. That's actually how they met, as Panettiere revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that

their first exchange after meeting each other consisted of her saying, "You're huge" and him replying, "You're tiny."

On the bright side, at least Panettiere knows that she won't pass down her short height to her children, as the differences between her and her husband will surely balance out to make average size kids.
