Bagged: Love Found...Then Lost

We all know now about the ups and downs of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez's relationship but not everyone knows how their relationship began. In 2009, Bieber was an up-and-coming young pop singer who had just released his first single "One Time." Bieber appeared on a radio show to do an interview and he was asked who his celebrity crush was and he blushed and admitted that his crush was Selena Gomez and then jokingly said, "No one heard that. Keep that on the DL!" At the time, Bieber was just 15 and The Wizards of Waverly Place star was 17 and dating Nick Jonas. However, less than two years later, Gomez and Bieber were spotted on vacation together, kissing on a private yacht in St. Lucia right before making their red carpet debut at the Vanity Fair after-party for the 2011 Oscars.

The two have gotten together and broken up more times than we can count but Bieber did manage to woo his crush multiple times. But while Bieber's first celebrity crush was on his future girlfriend, Gomez had a very different celebrity crush. Gomez recently admitted that she had a crush on Barney! Well, actually she had a crush on the guy in the Barney suit who she worked with when she starred on the show along with Demi Lovato who was also crushing on Barney.

Rejected: Friend-zoned

We all know that Drake has had a crush on Rihanna for years but at least she gave him a chance (two chances actually) but she's not the only famous woman that Drake has crushed on. For years, Drake has harbored feelings for Nicki Minaj but she apparently put him int he friend zone--at least that's what he told MTV:

"Me and Nicki have a really playful relationship. When I was on tour ... I saw Nicki for the first time and, like, literally fell in love...I remember one of the first nights that we were out in Miami and I went to Jerry's [Famous Deli]. I was like [to Minaj], 'You want food, you hungry?,' and she was like, 'Yeah, I want some food.' I was like, 'I'm in, we gon' eat food together.' I came to her door and she took the food and shut the door in my face! I was just like, 'Man, this is gonna be a long road for us.' I’ve always really, actually really had a crush on her, always really loved her, and she’s always just looked at me as, like, her little brother.” No guy ever really wants to go through that."

Drake has definitely made his feelings known in more ways than one--he even admitted it again "Miss Me" with the lyrics: "I love Nicki Minaj/ I told her I'd admit it." It doesn't get much clearer than that. Unfortunately for Drake, Minaj is not interested.

Bagged: The Rise and Fall of TomKat

Before Katie Holmes met Tom Cruise, she was already well-known for her role as Joey Potter on Dawson's Creek. Though she went on to star in movies like First Daughter and Pieces of April after the show ended in 2003, she wasn't anywhere near as famous as she was about to be. Holmes grew up in the 80s which means that she had a crush on Tom Cruise--almost everyone did thanks to movies like Top Gun and Risky Business.

Holmes first admitted her crush before she'd even met Cruise in person, saying that every little girl dreams about her wedding day and adding, "I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise.”

According to some of her former Catholic school classmates, she used to say that marrying the movie star would be a "dream come true" and that she would often keep photos of him in her textbooks. Her dream came true in 2006 when she married Cruise in a lavish ceremony in Italy. However, though she got to marry her crush, the actual relationship was probably not what she dreamed about as a little girl in the 80s. The couple split up in 2012.

Rejected: DM Drama

Bella Thorne has actually known Cole Sprouse for years since they both got their start on the Disney Channel and they appeared in a commercial for Danimals together when they were kids. It seems like Thorne has harbored a crush on him for years before finally making her move. Recently, the Famous in Love star tried to shoot her shot by sliding into Sprouse's DMs with a flirty message. However, she didn't realize that the account that she had messaged wasn't actually Sprouse's--it was actually a fan account. What happened was that Sprouse posted a collage of photos of himself and that photo was reposted on a Cole Sprouse fan account and Thorne mixed them up and slid into the DMs with the comment "Wow" which made for the hilarious situation.

The message was quickly deleted but the account took a screenshot of it and promptly posted it. At the time, Thorne wasn't in a relationship but Sprouse was rumored to be dating his Riverdale costar Lili Reinhart (they only just made their red carpet debut at the 2018 Met Gala) and fans of their relationship were not happy about Thorne trying to get her flirt on with Sprouse.

Bagged: He Almost Scared Her Away

Josh Duhamel and Fergie's breakup came as a shock--mostly because everyone forgot that they were even together. However, before the couple divorced, they had been together for thirteen years and married for eight years. When the couple first met in 2004, Duhamel was on a show called Las Vegas and convinced the producers to get the Black Eyed Peas on the show so that he could meet his longtime crush.

When they actually met for the first time, Duhamel flustered and didn't know what to say so he just blurted out, "You're hot." Luckily for the Transformers star, this bluntness didn't scare Fergie away.

Now if some guy came up to you and just said "you're hot" to you, you probably wouldn't go on a date with him--but this is Josh Duhamel we're talking about! So considering that he's pretty hot too, Fergie was flattered and they started dating right away. They were married in 2009 but, unfortunately, a few years into their marriage, there were allegations about Duhamel, but the two stayed together and welcomed their son Axl in 2013 and then announced they were separating in 2017.

Rejected: Harry Potter and the Childhood Crush

Before Julianne Hough became a dancer on Dancing With The Stars, she appeared in a movie that you might not expect: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Believe it or not, when Hough was 11 years old, she was in school in London and she managed to become an extra in the first installment in the Harry Potter series as a Gryffindor schoolgirl who you can spot for a moment as she cheers in the crowd at a Quidditch game. While she is cheering on Harry Potter in the crowd, she was harboring some major feelings for the actor who played him. In 2012, Hough told Us Magazine that she caught feelings for Daniel Radcliffe during filming:

"I was kind of in love, especially with Daniel Radcliffe. I wrote him a love note. It was Valentine's Day, and I got him the Valentino Beanie Baby. I never heard back."

She continued with, "I didn’t personally give it to him because I was just an extra, but I gave it to his assistant or PA that was working with him. I don’t know if he ever got it, but Daniel: I just want to know if you got it! Come on! I just wanna know if you got it!" She also said that after she gave him the Beanie Baby, she was "really embarrassed" about it "because sometimes I see him around. I just turn and walk away."

Bagged: A Royal Romance

Before Meghan Markle had her fairytale romance with Prince Harry, Kate Middleton had hers with Prince William. When Kate was a teenager, she probably had a crush on Prince William and she was rumored to have had a poster of Prince William on her wall. The two first met when they were students at Scotland's St. Andrews University and their relationship went public in 2004 when they were seen on vacation together. They continued to date after they graduated in 2005 even while she was working at her parent's company and he was beginning his military career.

In 2007, the two reportedly parted ways for a time due to the pressures Kate felt by the royal family and the media which followed their every move. By 2008, they were back together and their relationship was stronger than ever but they did their best to stay away out of the spotlight and away from the paparazzi. Finally, the couple became engaged in 2010 and they announced the big news a month later. By 2011, they were married and it was reported that two billion people all over the globe watched the ceremony on TV. Not many middle school crushes end like this.

Rejected: Hermione and Draco

It turns out that Julianne Hough wasn't the only one with a crush on the set of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone! Though in the movies Hermione has a crush on Ron Weasley, in real life, Emma Watson developed a crush on another costar: Tom Felton. In an interview, Watson told the story of her crush:

"Between the ages of ten and twelve, I had a really terrible crush on Tom Felton, to the extent that I would go into work in the morning and look down the numbers on the call sheet to see if he was going to be in. He was a few years older and he had a skateboard — and that just did it really."

However, Felton didn't have the same feelings for Watson as she did for him and, according to the Beauty and the Beast actress, he would tell their castmates that he saw her "in a younger, sisterly way." Though she said that the fact that it broke her heart at the time, she has long since gotten over it and things are good and totally not awkward between them now: "He totally knows. We talked about it – we still laugh about it. We are really good friends now, and that's cool."

Bagged: Kanye's Krush

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have known each other for a long time but it took them awhile for them to actually get together. Kanye had a crush on his future wife for years after meeting her through a mutual friend (this mutual friend was Brandy who recorded a song with Kanye and is the sister to Kim's infamous ex-boyfriend Ray-J). According to Kim, he asked his friends who this "Kim Kardajan" was because he didn't know her name but he was interested in her. He eventually got her to appear in a video along with him for his short-lived TV show with her dressed as Princess Leia but they didn't actually start dating till years later.

It was later revealed that Kanye actually got his first cell phone back in 2011 because he wanted to call her and tease her for marrying Kris Humphries: "'I wasn’t up to anything, and I looked on the internet, and there was Kim Kardashian with some extremely tall person, and I was like, I need to call her or something." Fortunately for Kanye, Kim's marriage didn't last very long and the two ended up getting together and married in 2014.

Rejected: Bachelor and Bachelorette

Any Bachelor contestant would be lucky to date a movie star and now that Wells Adams managed to woo Modern Family's Sarah Hyland, Nick Viall's wish to be in a relationship with January Jones is not completely out of the realm of possibility. According to Jones, she was just friends with Viall even though there were rumors that the two had been seeing each other and that he had even celebrated her birthday with her.

The rumors started to fly when Jones was on The Late, Late Show with James Corden and said that it was her dream to appear on the show and that she had a crush on former Bachelor star Ben Higgins.

But she wasn't so sure about how she felt for Viall, saying: "You don't know if you like him or if he's a scumbag and I think that's why I'm attracted to him, maybe?"

Jones also said that Viall had asked her to battle him on Lip Sync Battle and she wasn't sure if that was his way of asking her on a date--regardless, she declined because she didn't want to be "humiliated."

Despite Viall's attempts to woo his crush, the Mad Men star only claims that she only sees him as a friend: He’s a friend of mine. He’s super sweet. No, I’m single. But, he’s a friend of mine and tells me lots of inside scoops.” Better luck next time, Nick.

Bagged: Blind Sided

It might be hard to imagine that someone like Sandra Bullock would have a crush on Jesse James but it's true--and it was this crush that initially brought them together. Bullock and her godson were obsessed with Jesse James' custom motorcycle show, Monster Garage, so in 2003, she arranged a tour for them at West Coast Choppers in 2003 where James built custom motorcycles. As unlikely as the pairing might have been, the two hit it off and began dating and by 2005, they were married and Bullock became the step-mother to James' three children.

Five years later, Bullock won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side and James stood proudly by her side--but little did we know that he was hiding multiple dark secrets.

Just days after the Oscars, InTouch Magazine ran a cover story called "The Ultimate Betrayal," which included an interview with Michelle "Bombshell" McGee, a heavily tattooed model who claimed she was also with James for almost a year--much of it transpired during the filming of The Blind Side. More women stepped forward claiming that James had also had relations with them and Bullock filed for divorce a month later.

Rejected: Just Friends

Hailey Baldwin and Shawn Mendes made headlines when they walked the red carpet at the Met Gala together but their "relationship" is not as romantic as you might think. It all started in 2013 when Baldwin tweeted: "Hey Shawn Mendes, let's date so you can sing to me all day. I'm joking but not really.." and Mendes replied by tweeting: "Just finding out now that @haileybaldwin tweeted at me !"

According to E! News, the two managed to connect and became friends...then their friendship turned into a romance:

"It started out casual as they would run into each other at parties and hangout, but most recently it's become more serious. They are definitely dating and spend a lot of time together."

However, Mendes put all of the rumors to rest when he told People Magazine that the two were just "friends" and that they were not making their "big debut" as a couple by walking the red carpet together. Mendes also said that they only went to the Met Gala together because Tommy Hilfiger and asked them to.

As much as we (and Hailey Baldwin) might want this relationship to be real, it seems like they were just teasing us the whole time. Even though she doesn't get to date him, he might still sing to her which is close enough.

Bagged: Sofia's Choice

Joe Manganiello had a crush on Sofia Vergara long before they were a couple--in fact, he was crushing on her while she was still married to her ex-husband Nick Loeb. As soon as he found out that she was getting a divorce, he hopped on a plane to New Orleans where the newly single actress was filming a movie. According to an interview, he flew out to take her on a date because he knew any woman as beautiful as Vergara wouldn't be single for very long:

"She's blamed me ever since for ruining her life because she was supposed to be single. But I didn't let that happen. And here we are."

Before the two had even gotten together, the True Blood star said in an interview with People Magazine that Vergara was his celebrity crush and the two started dating before the magazine even came out which he explained on On Air With Ryan Seacrest: "I had forgotten that I had said that and then when the magazine came out, by that time, we were seeing each other. And when I got the magazine and opened it up and read it I had forgot I said that. I was just laughing.” Dreams really do come true!

Rejected: Childhood Crush to New Step-Dad

Not many young women have watched their celebrity crush choose their mom over them but Rumer Willis has! The daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore admitted on Howard Stern's XM radio show that she once had a crush on Ashton Kutcher who would later become her step-father after he married her famous mother. She even revealed that she had a poster of Kutcher on her bedroom wall when she was a teenager! Willis said that the poster didn't stay up for long once her mom started dating the That 70s Show star back in 2003:

"That's when you open up your Teen Beat and just take him down, rip out somebody else and put them up," Willis said. "I feel like I told my sister that at some point ‘Gotta cross him off the list.'"

However, though she was crushing on her mom's new boyfriend, she got over it even though it was strange, saying: "It was definitely weird for a minute but I do have to commend him. He was a really great stepfather. The perspective shifted very quickly."

To be fair, The Dancing With the Stars winner was 15 when Kutcher first started dating Moore so it's not like Kutcher picked her mother over her but it probably felt that way at first. However, Willis said that she doesn't harbor any resentment toward her mother for dating her former crush and when Moore first introduced her daughters to her new boyfriend, Willis was actually impressed.

Bagged: A Modern Romance

Most fans of the Bachelorette had crushes on Wells Adams at some point during his stints on season 12 of The Bachelorette and two seasons of Bachelor in Paradise. It turns out that Sarah Hyland of Modern Family also had a crush on him--and he had one on her as well! Before the two actually got together, Hyland tweeted about Adams while she watched Bachelor in Paradise and Adams took notice. The two began to exchange flirty tweets with each other and then, according to Hyland, Adams slid into her DMs. The two made their relationship known by posting photos on Instagram of them dressed up in Stranger Things costumes for Halloween and the two have been dating ever since.

According to the former Bachelor, Ben Higgins, the story went like this:

“Sarah saw interest in Wells, reached out to Wells, and Wells showed interest back. What a beautiful story. And the fact that they’re having fun — I know Sarah just got out of a relationship, Wells has kind of been dating and also going on Bachelor in Paradise and kind of had his romantic interest — so if their journey leads them together through whatever means, we should celebrate that.”

Rejected: Keep Crushes Secret

Jennifer Love Hewitt first made her feelings for Adam Levine known when she appeared on Ellen Degeneres' talk show back in 2012. During the interview, she mentioned that she had her eyes on the Maroon 5 frontman who was newly single:

“I always have my eyes out. I just read two days ago that Adam Levine is single again … I’m just saying. Look, we would be cute."

Sounds like a harmless crush, right? Well, not to Adam Levine. When Levin was later interviewed on Ellen, Levine responded by saying that she was “aggressive” but also he also added "It was really sweet and flattering. Beautiful life, you know, when a beautiful woman says nice things about you." However, when Degeneres offered to set them up, he declined.

Hewitt went to Twitter to vow that she would never open up about her crushes again by writing, "The moment when you make a comment about something or someone and the world makes you feel like a total fool.#keepcrushesquiet". Then, in order to be even more clear about the entire situation, she tweeted again: "Thank you to @adamlevine for being so gracious on Ellen about my crush heard round the world. I've learned a lesson.#Sssh".

Bagged: Out of His League

We've all had childhood crushes but very few people have been able to marry their celebrity crush--Jason Momoa is one of those lucky people. When Momoa was The Late Late Show with James Corden, he talked about his relationship with Lisa Bonet:

“Ever since I was like, 8 years old and I saw her on the TV, I was like, ‘Mommy, I want that one.' I’m like, ‘I’m going to stalk you for the rest of my life and I’m going to get you.’ ”

Momoa joked that he was a "full-fledged stalker" when it came to his longtime love and also admitted that he didn't even tell her about his childhood crush on her until after they had two kids together because it would have seemed "creepy and weird." Luckily for Bonet, the Justice League star wasn't an actual stalker--but he did always want to meet her. He detailed the story of how they met for James Corden:

"We just happened to be in the right place at the right time,” he said. “I actually had dreaded my hair for her. I had dreadlocks, she had dreadlocks. I literally turned around and I see her and she goes, ‘I’m Lisa.’"

He said that when he met Bonet in 20015, he had "fireworks going off inside" and the two shared a meal together that same night and the rest is history.

Rejected: Woman Crush Wednesday

Janelle Monae has long been coy about her love life (there are still plenty of rumors going around about her and Tessa Thompson) but she managed to shut down Tyrese's advances toward her before any rumors started up about her and the Black Rose artist. Tyrese first made his feelings for Monae known in a #WCW post on Instagram in which he posted a photo of the "Make Me Feel" artist and included a lengthy caption that began like this:

"I’m a sucker for a naturally beautiful, God fearing woman who’s smart and authentic who’s strong and self-sufficient – most guys out here will run fast and be intimidated with the idea of all the things I just mentioned about you…"

Tyrese essentially professed his love for her in this long post and Monae quickly (and respectfully) rejected him with a tweet: “Always positive and endearing to see a man show admiration for an Electric Lady. I am Honored. Thank you @Tyrese". This message is very nice but it's clear that she is definitely not on the same page as him when it comes to his feelings of love.

Bagged: Every Rose Has Its Thorn

Amber Rose first rose to prominence when she started dating Kanye West but it was Wiz Khalifa who she married and had a son, Sebastian, with. Khalifa first managed to catch Rose's eye when he did an interview and was asked "if there was one girl in the world, who would you be with?" and he responded by saying Amber Rose.

Rose told Us Weekly that after she heard that he had a crush on her, she "hit him on Twitter and said, 'That's really cute' and we fell in love!"

The two began dating in 2011, they appeared in a FADER magazine spread together, Khalifa got Rose's face tattooed on his arm, she got his name tattooed on her finger, they got engaged in 2012, and they welcomed their son in 2013.

While the two were together, they always vocal about the love that they had for each other and even after they split up, they've had nothing but good things to say about each other--at least for the most part. After allegations and rumors about Khalifa straying from Rose came out in 2014 (which Rose later confirmed) Rose filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.

Rejected: Game of Woes

Sophie Turner was propelled into superstardom with her breakout role as Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones and she has caught the eye of multiple men in Hollywood and is rumored to have dated Greg Sulkin, Thomas Mann, Toby Sebastian, and Tye Sheridan before she started dating and eventually got engaged to Joe Jonas. At one point, Turner was also rumored to be dating The Vamps' guitarist James McVey. The pair met on Twitter after McVey admitted to having a crush on her and they were spotted casually hanging out together.

The relationship didn't go anywhere because Turner rejected him soon after they started hanging out.

McVey went to Twitter to try to make sense of the situation, posting a photo of the two of them with the caption: "Whatcha saying... Was this all an act? I know you're an actress but this isn't cool." She responded by saying tweeting back at him: "wow. Harsh words. Ps. Please stop texting me.. It’s getting creepy and I’m sorry I’m not interested.” He replied by saying: "You made me watch your lame little tv show. I don't even like Game of Thrones" and Turner asked him to stop again because "you're freaking me out." Yikes!
