Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of United States of America. Jackson died on June 8, 1845, after a life of duels and downright bada** behavior. In an interesting turn of events, Jackson’s funeral was disturbed by none other than his pet parrot. Reverend William Menefee Norment, a man who was present at Jackson’s funeral said this about the parrot’s disturbance, “Before the sermon and while the crowd was gathering, a wicked parrot that was a household pet got excited and commenced swearing so loud and long as to disturb the people and had to be carried from the house”.

Genghis Khan’s death and his final resting place are both shrouded in mystery. Khan died in August 1227, at the age of 65. According to sources, the circumstances surrounding the founder of the Mongol Empire’s death came about under suspicious circumstances. As a result, there have been many theories surrounding Khan’s death. Some believe that Khan succumbed to illness, others believe he died in battle, and some even believe that Genghis Khan was murdered. In whatever circumstances Khan met his end, the conditions surrounding his funeral are equally mysterious. Apparently, Khan wanted to be buried somewhere where he wouldn’t be disturbed. To make this possible, soldiers that were carrying Khan to his final resting place killed everyone they met along the way. In addition, the soldiers and everyone else attending Khan’s funeral were killed.

James Doohan was an actor who was best known for his role as Montgomery “Scotty” Scott on Star Trek. Later in life, the star reportedly suffered from Parkinson’s disease, diabetes mellitus, pulmonary fibrosis, and Alzheimer’s disease. On July 20, 2005, the star died at the age of 85. According to Mirror.co.uk, the actor decided to do something a little unusual when it came to deciding what was to be done with his remains. Instead of being buried, Doohan chose to have his remains sent up into space. So as per Doohan’s wishes, the ashes of the actor were blasted into space where they remained for four minutes before landing in New Mexico.

4 William the Conqueror 


William the Conqueror was the first Norman King of England who ruled from 1066-1087. The King died in 1087, after he fell ill or was injured by his saddle. The funeral of the King did not quite go as planned. Apparently the final resting place of the King was constructed a bit too small for William the conqueror. But determined to keep the funeral proceedings going, the King’s body was forced into the space, which unfortunately caused the body to rupture. Of course this led to a horrible stench that reached everyone in the crowd. The funeral was terminated as quickly as possible, to get away from the smell.

3 Joseph Stalin

Joseph Stalin is one of the most hated men of all time. He is responsible for millions of deaths and much pain and despair. Stalin died on March 5, 1953 as a result of a stroke, although some conspiracy theorists have some different thoughts on the matter. According to sources, after Stalin passed his body was moved to Moscow’s Hall of Columns. Apparently, the people of the USSR were so crushed by the death of Stalin, that they ran towards the Hall of Columns in order to catch a glimpse of the body. The result was a riot that ended in the death of 500 people.

2 Malcolm McLaren

Malcolm McLaren was a musician, singer, songwriter, band manager and entrepreneur. He is probably best known for managing the band, Sex Pistols. Later in life, McLaren suffered from peritoneal mesothelioma, a disease that would eventually kill him on April 8, 2010, at the age of 64. According to sources, McLaren’s coffin was pulled by a horse-drawn carriage through Camden Town with the phrase, “Too fast to live, to young to die,” spray-painted on the side of it. In addition, mourners followed the coffin in a green double-decker bus that had “cash from chaos,” written on it. To top it all off, fans cried “anarchy” as the procession passed by.

Hunter S. Thompson was a journalist and author who became well known after the publication of Hell’s Angels: The Strange and Terrible Saga of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs. Johnny Depp portrayed the writer in the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Thompson died on February 20, 2005, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The funeral of Thompson was a private affair that included 280 attendees. According to sources, per Thompson’s request, his ashes were fired from a cannon with an accompaniment of red, white, blue and green fireworks. The writer died as he lived, with a bang.
