Young entrepreneurs have great ideas all the time, but it is not all that often that we find an idea as amazing as the one Natasha Oakley and Devin Brugman had when they came up with their website, “A Bikini A Day.” In case you are not familiar with the website, it is a project that the two of them came up with in order to show the world that they could wear a different bikini in each day of the year. So yes, every year, there are at least 365 bikinis posted on the website.
The two young women and their followers have a lot of fun talking about the bikinis and also about the places they got to visit because of this new project of theirs. But before we get into their travels, let’s talk about these two young ladies a little bit. As you can imagine, both of them come from rather sunny places. Natasha is from Sydney, Australia, and the beach is in her blood as her father was a former surfing champion. Devin is also someone with close ties to the ocean. After all, she is Hawaiian. Hawaii is also a big part of their relationship because that is where they met. But let’s get to what really matters and show you 20 places these ladies got to visit with A Bikini A Day.
20. Aloha From Hawaii
The idea started when Natasha and Devin met in Hawaii, so it is only fair that we start this list with a picture from Hawaii. These ladies spend 365 days a year wearing new bikinis and traveling around, so at some point during the year, they had to return to their roots, especially when we talk about Devin.
From what we could gather reading her interviews and checking out her posts on Instagram, this lady could not be happier with the place she is from.
You can see as much just looking at that smile she’s showing off at Baldwin Beach Park, which is located near Kahului in Hawaii. As for the bikini she is wearing, this is one of the most standard pieces we will see on this list, but that is not a surprise since you have to go to the basics once in a while if you are doing this the whole year.
19. Rottnest Island
Let’s go from the homeland of one of these ladies to the motherland of the other with this picture they took in Western Australia, most specifically in the beautiful Rottnest Island. In case you are not familiar with this place, let’s just say that we should all be envious of these two ladies for the mere fact that they could go and spend some time there.
A 7.3-square-mile Island off the coast of Western Australia, Rottnest Island is quite unique in many ways.
Of course, there are the beautiful beaches the 500 residents of the island can enjoy alongside the more than 500,000 tourists who visit the place every year. But there are also peculiarities like the fact that the island is one of the few places where you can find a rare marsupial called the quokka.
18. Posing In Bali
From a tourist’s island in Australia that not many people might know about to one of the most coveted vacation destinations around the world, A Bikini A Day now takes us to the stunning island of Bali. Yes, if you are someone who loves the sun and beaches, there is no way you have not heard about Bali. We will even go a step further: there is no way you never dreamed of going there. Bali is one of those few places where you can find a consensus of people calling it paradise. Hell,
it was even named TripAdvisor’s top destination in 2017.
A province of Indonesia, Bali’s most significant share of income unavoidably comes from tourism as it hosts millions of tourists every year. Would you care to guess which country most of these visitors come from? The answer is Australia.
17. A Stop In Sydney
It is kind of funny to imagine that millions of tourists from Australia go to Bali every year when they have such beautiful scenery right in their backyard. Now, we are not even trying to compare the two, but it is hard to deny that Sydney does have its perks in comparison to the Indonesian island. The most populous city in Australia, Sydney is so amazing that sometimes people even get confused and think that it is the capital of the country. Fun fact: the capital is Canberra.
But, back to the point. The homeland of Natasha Oakley is a beautiful place on its own. Sydney has everything you could want in a travel destination. It has all the perks of modern society while being right next to some of the most beautiful wonders of nature.
16. The Amalfi Coast
When people say Italy, your mind instantly goes to places like Rome and Milan. You think about the cities, and you can often forget about nature. Most people want to go to Italy because they want to see the Coliseum and all of the historical landmarks that are spread throughout Italian territory. But people who just focus on that side of Italy run the risk of missing some of the greatest wonders that the country has to offer.
European architecture is surely something to admire, but it is nothing compared to what mother nature has to offer, especially in places like the Amalfi Coast.
Just so you have an idea, this region in the coast of Italy is so beautiful that it was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. If you ever get a chance to go to Italy, don’t snub this place or you will regret it.
15. Phuket, Thailand
Southeast Asia has some of the most amazing places in the world if you are someone who enjoys the ocean and beaches. Thailand might not be the first place that comes to mind when you try to come up with a vacation spot on the beach when you have money to spare, but it turns out that it has a surprisingly large number of beautiful spots to visit. For example, the Phuket Province in the Southwest coast of Thailand is a rather interesting place. We say that because
it consists of a conglomerate of 33 islands that range across an area of about 222 square miles.
14. Kauai, Hawaii
Tourism that involves wearing bikinis usually has to do with beaches and places where you go to enjoy nature. What better way to enjoy nature than wearing something made with natural products? The coconut top aside, Natasha Oakley really seems to be enjoying herself in one of the most beautiful places Hawaii has to offer. We are, of course, talking about the island of Kauai. Geologically, this is the oldest of the major Hawaiian Islands.
With a population of about 70,000 people, this is yet another region that depends on tourism to survive.
Luckily, millions of people go to Kauai every year to sit by the sun and go for a swim from time to time. A fun fact is that the island is home to the American Navy’s “Barking Sands” Pacific Missile Range Facility.
13. Ko Kham
And before we knew it, we were already back in Thailand. When we tell you that this place has a lot to offer when it comes to tourism near the ocean, we are not kidding. Thailand seriously seems to be one of the places to go if you want to visit a lot of spots inside just one country and you enjoy the beach. And there is no better example of that than the tiny island, Ko Kham.
When we say tiny, we really mean tiny. But despite its size, the island in the Trat Province has its perks in comparison to bigger vacation destinations. The first fun fact about this place is that you can actually reach the island from the continent by walking during low tides. Some people even reach it by kayak if the water is too high.
12. Hanalei, Hawaii
You can’t really get more natural than wearing fruits as a bikini. Now, we are just kidding, but the picture is amusing. What is also entertaining is the place Devin took this photo at. She was in Hanalei, Hawaii. First, we do have to say that we think this young lady has literally seen everything there is to see in her native state. Seriously, she has pictures in almost every single beach in Hawaii. Not that we were counting or anything, but it still seems worth mentioning.
Sure, that must be one of the perks of their A Bikini A Day project, and we are happy that Devin gets to enjoy the place she is from. A little more on Hanalei, this is yet another tiny region that houses around 500 people but receives an exponential amount of tourists in comparison to its population.
11. Manhattan Beach
One of the things we found out by keeping up with the travels of Natasha and Devin is that a place doesn’t need to be far from other people and hard to get to in order to be beautiful.
Sometimes, the places that are easier to go to can be the most beautiful spots you will find to enjoy your vacation.
A testament to that is this picture Devin took at the Manhattan Beach Pier in California. This is a spot most tourists love to visit and a bunch of people who live in the region go to every day. It is always packed, and it is always fun. Whether you like fishing, surfing, or just hanging out in a bikini, this is one of the coolest spots to go to if you are already in California.
10. Caribbean Paradise
In the previous entry, we did make a point that you don’t need to go far in order to enjoy a sweet vacation on the beach. But that doesn’t mean that it is not worth it to go far sometimes. For example, if you ever get the chance to discover the island of Anguilla in the Caribbean, do not miss that opportunity. It could be you instead of Natasha Oakley riding that horse along the shoreline. And this is one of the many things you could do in this British overseas territory. There is a unique wildlife you can find there, which includes Cuban tree frogs, red-footed tortoises, and even green iguanas.
Despite facing several issues with hurricanes and other natural disasters, the Anguilla travel industry has been growing for decades now.
9. Maui, Hawaii
The first thing we have to ask you is this: did you spot the tortoise in that picture? Well, if you did, you already know one of the many things you could enjoy if you ever take a swim around the island of Maui in Hawaii. The second largest island in the state has an area of more than 727 square miles. And believe us when we say it is worth a visit every single one of those square miles. Maui is a place of wonder. The island has pretty much a little bit of everything.
Like all of the other islands in Hawaii, it has beautiful beaches where you can go snorkeling, surfing and enjoy yourself in nature.
8. Maui Again
Sorry, we tried really hard to contain ourselves to one entry for each place, but this picture the ladies took in Maui is nothing short of spectacular. And spectacular is exactly the word we would use to describe the island of Maui. Seriously, this place doesn’t even seem to be made for this world. When was the last time you saw a picture with such beautiful scenery? Sure, we need to give serious props to this photographer, but no one can deny that there are only a few other places in the world where you could take a photograph like this. We also can’t deny that Devin helped make this picture great.
According to the tag, the picture was taken near the Hana Highway, which is one of the biggest tourist attractions of the island.
7. Surprise, Surprise
Welcome to the biggest surprise of this list, ladies and gentlemen. When people think about visiting the United States, their minds usually go straight towards New York and California (sometimes Florida). But some fantastic places will surprise you in the US. One of these places is Idaho. Yes, Idaho the state.
Just because the ladies are traveling while showing a new bikini every day, doesn’t mean they always have to go to a beach.
After all, you can always wear swimwear whenever there is a body of water around. The seventh least densely populated state in America, Idaho might just be one of the states with most hidden treasures like this Lake Devin found during her travels. This should be a great example to remind everyone that no matter what you think of a place you should always give it a shot because there are beautiful scenery everywhere, and Idaho is sure to be on our travel queue from now on.
6. As Classy As It Gets
As we said before, you can find beauty pretty much everywhere, but it is not always that you find a beauty that is as classy as when you go to the Hamptons in New York. This particular region of Long Island is known for having some of the richest residents in the world, as well as some of its most beautiful scenery. After all, it is not all that surprising that a place as beautiful as this and is as close to the financial hub of New York City as it is, would be packed with millionaires and their peers.
This particular picture was taken in the region of Bridgehampton, which is not only known for the beautiful scenery nor because you see Natasha at in this picture, but also for a rather unique event. Of course, we are talking about the Hampton Classic, one of the most famous horse shows in America.
5. Mykonos, Greece
Another place that could catch people by surprise because of its natural scenery is Greece. When you first think about Greece, a regular person would immediately think about Greek gods, mythology, and the more political people would steer their minds towards the birthplace of democracy. Oh yes, we almost forgot about Sparta and the Spartans. Nevertheless, while those might be cornerstones of Greek culture, they are far from being everything this country has to offer. If you need a perfect example of that just research pictures of a Greek region called Mykonos. That is something you will not regret checking out.
Mykonos is a Greek island that became famous for its beautiful sea.
4. Positano, Italy
We have talked about Italy and the Amalfi Coast in a more general sense, but this time, let’s approach a village the ladies visited and seem to have enjoyed like there was no tomorrow. We are talking about the village of Positano in the Italian Amalfi Coast. The place is quite unique as you can see since the entire city is packed up together near the shoreline. It seriously is something hard to describe without an image to go along with it.
Thankfully, when the photographer was taking this picture of Natasha, he caught an excellent glimpse of what the entire village looks like in the background.
It is a very tiny place with a total area of three square miles. No, we are not kidding. The entire village is just three square miles. The population is also very small as about 4000 people live there. Those people have one hell of a view though.
3. Syracuse, Italy
We are sure that the Syracuse in New York has its perks despite the frigid cold you will experience there most of the year. But we would be lying if we told you that we would choose a vacation to the American Syracuse if we had the chance to visit the original Syracuse in Sicily.
The place is simply stunning, and it might be the most famous spot in southern Italy.
Syracuse has a little bit of everything when it comes to beauty, culture, and even history. The place is named in the Bible for God’s sake. Another place it is mentioned in is the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. This city is truly a wonder of both nature and humanity. Back in the day, Syracuse was one of the most powerful city-states in Europe, and it had a Navy that was envied throughout the old world.
2. Miami At Last
We bet you were starting to get worried, wondering if we would remember to put in a picture of the ladies in Miami.
But fear no more because there was no way we were going to leave South Beach behind. The reasoning here is elementary. You cannot leave Miami aside when the talk is about beaches, the ocean, and even bikinis. Miami is undeniably one of the most famous vacation spots for people who love the beach. Sure, the city has its problems like any other place, but it is hard to deny that Miami is paradise for folks who like to go to the beach every day and enjoy the sun.
1. Turks And Caicos
Last but not least, we bring to you yet another Caribbean Paradise. The Turks and Caicos Islands are a tiny archipelago north of the Dominican Republic. But what they lack in size they make up for in beauty.
This British overseas territory is known for being a great tourist destination, as well as an offshore financial center.
While it might not exactly be the powerhouse in the Caribbean when it comes to tourism, the government is trying really hard to increase their revenue on this front. For example, they are making it easier for entrepreneurs to build high-end resorts aimed at wealthy customers. But they also invested in a new cruise ship port and a recreation center to attract more people. In total numbers, the island already had more than 600,000 annual visitors back in 2010. We can just wonder what that number is today given all the government has tried to do to increase the figure.
