Michelle Monaghan At 41: 15 Of The Star's Most Foxy Photos

Michelle Monaghan is now 41, and she has been on the TV series The Path for a couple of years now. She has a long history in Hollywood, mostly in films such as Made of Honor, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and Mission Impossible III, among many others. In The Path Monaghan plays a woman named Sarah Lane and the show revolves around a cult. Sarah was raised within the cult since she was born, but after a while, both her husband and son start to have doubts about their beliefs and things start to go a little crazy. It’s not long before it appears as if Sarah is going to lose everything that she’s ever cared about. It’s a great show to tune into and Sarah makes for a compelling character.

Michelle Monaghan has been in the industry for 17 years and that’s hard to believe. She’s gorgeous and humble and pretty damn smart. We love everything about her and she’s had quite a career so far. She also had a stint in 2014 on the amazing TV series True Detective. She will also be in the new Mission Impossible movie, M:I 6 - Mission Impossible. The girl seems to have the world at her feet and we can’t help admire her for it. If you are a fan of the actress, then you are going to love these gorgeous photos. Check out these steamy photos of the beautiful Michelle Monaghan.

15 Small-Town Girl

You may not be aware, but this movie star grew up in a town that only had 700 people in it. We couldn’t imagine what that would be like. “It was very rural. I grew up in a town of 700 people, so we had no stoplight; my high school graduating class was 39 people. It was such slim pickings that I basically had one boyfriend all through high school. I didn’t grow up near a movie theater — it was 50 miles away — so I didn’t even really grow up watching movies.” It’s surprising that she was able to make her dreams come true when she didn’t even watch movies growing up.

14 Bad Habit

Monaghan hasn’t always been the healthiest person out there; you might be surprised to learn that she used to be a smoker for a decade. “I smoked for almost 10 years. I really regret that. Thankfully, I came out on the other side. I hope my lungs are repairing themselves now.” All it takes is a few years and they say that your lungs go back to normal. It’s great that she finally stopped smoking.

13 Party Girl

When Monaghan was a teen, though, she did get herself into some trouble. “I was a pretty good kid, but once I messed up. I came home drunk when I was 16 or 17. It was the first time I went out drinking, and I came home and I stumbled up the steps. It was Black Velvet and Coke. It’s lighter fluid, basically. To all the kids out there, don’t do it!” That does not sound like a tasty drink so we’ll make sure to avoid it.

12 Helping Hand

Monaghan is a firm believer in helping others as best that you can and she learned that from personal experience. “I am a firm believer that you can make a difference in someone's life — whether they're thousands of miles away or on your own block. When I was growing up, my parents took in foster children. From a young age, I learned that there are a lot of children in need.” The best way for children to learn about helping others is to throw them right in the action. Monaghan learned through her own family how important it is to help others.

11 Leading Lady

There has been a lot of controversy in Hollywood lately about bringing in more female leads. We hope to see that trend happening more and more as the years go on. Monaghan, though, doesn’t seem too worried about it. "I think that weird rumor or idea in Hollywood that people don't want to see female-driven movies couldn't be further from the truth. Women buy tickets to movies.” We definitely hope to see her in more leading roles because she has proven to be quite the actress.

10 Audition Queen

Hollywood can be scathing when it comes to auditions and some actresses can’t handle the rejection, but that’s not the case for Monaghan. “I didn’t have anything to lose. I had that thick skin. I had older brothers that I grew up with too, so my thick skin was fully in place by the age of 10. I think that’s one of the things that really aided me in terms of my early success. It never really bothered me: 'Okay, I didn’t get this one. Onto the next.'"

9 Staying Humble

If you’ve ever had the impression that Monaghan just seems so normal, there is a reason for that. She doesn’t have a lot of friends in the industry and she doesn’t even live in California. “I'm not so Hollywood; I live in New York, so it's very normal. I don't have many friends in the industry. My friends come from all sorts of different backgrounds and careers.” That’s how she has managed to stay so grounded over the years.

8 Role Model

The great thing about Monaghan is that she fights for what she wants, whether it’s a role or not she puts everything in to win it. “Maybe that’s from my upbringing as well. My parents have worked their a**es off their whole entire lives, they still do, and I never felt like anything would be handed to me. I never felt sorry for myself. I felt like, 'Wow, this is incredible. I’m able to do this for myself.' I think once you have that sense of empowerment at a young age and you allow your children to have that empowerment, it will fuel them for a lifetime. Are you crying yet?”'

7 Staying Young

Monaghan isn’t all about being done up all the time. She prefers the natural look. Sure, she may get dressed up for events, but even when it comes to makeup, she believes less is more. “I really believe in less is more in terms of makeup. I try not to wear too much foundation. I like to see my skin coming through. I like to see my freckles. I just think that's the most youthful look.”

6 Life-Changing Role

Starring in True Detective really changed Monaghan’s careers because the TV series was so awesome. Everyone knew that the show was something different and special. She recognizes that it changed her career. “I suppose it did. I knew when we were making it that it was something special. You could feel it in the room. There are special projects that you do where you know that everything is firing on all cylinders. But once you see the final editing and the music — it blew me away as well as audiences. I think it was seen by so many people, and that’s what kind of surprised me. I didn’t realize the scope that HBO had or that TV had because I hadn’t really worked in that medium before. It also ruined me because it was so good. I had such a positive experience on it; I wanted to get back to something like that again.”

5 The Arm Wrestler

If you’ve ever wondered where she gets that toned body from, she said arm wrestling will do the trick. “I have nice muscle tone in my arms. I can't really take credit for it, though - all the members of my family do. A lot of arm wrestling happened in our family growing up!” That’s pretty hilarious and something to keep in mind. We’ll have to try that out sometime, though we know most actresses work really hard in the gym to keep their figure looking awesome.

4 Big Year Ahead

Next year will be a big year for Monaghan as she has three movies in post-production including the new Mission Impossible movie. If you haven’t yet checked out The Path, it’s an absolute must. “The Path was the first project that I felt like I could get into and go on the journey with and do it for a number of seasons if possible. I felt it was a really unique world and had the potential to be really provocative and scary and mythological. I’m a huge fan of Jason Katims, so it helped me and it definitely changed me, because it just gave me a different perspective on working in that kind of medium. Creatively, it challenged me to do find something as good.”

3 Emotional Rollercoaster

When it came to playing Sarah in The Path, Monaghan dug deep to discover the emotional journey that her character was going through. “I couldn’t join a cult. Normally I like to do something tangible to really understand the livelihood of this person or the culture that they live in, but I couldn’t with her, so it was more trying to discover her emotional journey. I wrote about my own experience with my own faith. I grew up Catholic. I’m not religious now but I would say that I’m a very spiritual person and you’re always in search of answers. I really wanted to understand someone that could be so devout, so convicted and come from a place of complete and utter faith, that they would, no matter what, choose their faith over their family.”

2 Going All The Way

She played a trucker in the movie Trucker and she actually went to trucking school to learn the ins and outs. It must be so much fun to go into all these different characters. She does say that there is a misconception about truckers. “I think there's a misconception, often times, I think society portrays truckers as people who can't get a better job or maybe uneducated, and I think that's a really unfair assessment.”

1 Just Like Everyone Else

One of the things that we love so much about Monaghan is that she is just like us. She comes from a normal family and she wasn’t born rich or raised in Hollywood. She came from a working-class family and she paid for her own schooling. “I come from a very working-class background. My dad worked in a factory for 40 years. We all put ourselves through school.” We can respect an actress like that because she wants to be normal, she’s not into the fuss and drama of Hollywood.
