Kourtney Kardashian is on a pretty strict diet and she doesn’t mind screaming about it to the world. She lives on a very clean diet and sometimes we wonder how anyone can one live that way. It seems to just suck the whole joy out of eating altogether. It must be working, however, because Kourtney has never looked more fit. She doesn’t eat anything that she considers to be unhealthy which is a lot of things and she makes sure that her menu is very regimented.
Part of her diet means that she doesn’t eat any dairy. She has what you call a no-dairy fridge and we can just imagine what is inside of it. You definitely won’t find cheese of any kind and you might as well forget ice cream unless it’s the non-dairy kind made with almond or coconut milk. So, what does she do when she has dairy cravings? “Since my household is dairy-free, we have a few favorite products that we always keep in our refrigerator,” she wrote on her app. She has admitted that the change has “definitely been an adjustment” for everyone in her family. So, what do they eat for those cravings? We’re sure you won’t be impressed. Part of the diet included coconut milk yogurt and provolone cheese slices that aren’t dairy. It happens to be one of Kim Kardashian’s favorite choices. “Whenever Kim comes over, she loves the non-dairy cheese slices — and she’s not even dairy-free!” says Kourtney. We are going to do a solid pass on non-cheese cheese, but we are curious to know what other diet rules these Kardashians follow to look as foxy as they do.
15. She Waits 14 To 16 Hours To Eat
Wow, that’s almost half a day without food. Even if you got eight hours of sleep, that would still deprive you of possibly 4 to 5 into the next day without food. This has got to be pretty crazy and for the most part, it sounds like she’s starving herself throughout the day. Most people eat something when they get up in the morning, even if it’s just a protein shake. But Kourtney won’t eat anything for breakfast until 14 to 16 hours after her last meal the night before. Now that sounds a little extreme. She says she might grab the occasional almond to get her through those many hours, but we think her diet is a little insane. She’s pretty much against snacking in general and we can’t imagine living like that. We assume her workouts must be hard to get through because her energy is depleted throughout the day.
14. Intense Morning Workouts
We suppose it would depend on what you consider to be gruelling. Some people choose to work out a few days a week and they are satisfied with that while others will go to the gym every single day. Kim Kardashian is one of the latter and she has her trainer show up at 6 a.m., six days a week, and the workouts are nothing short of gruelling. Her trainer, Alcantara told People, “She loves and hates leg days. But she’s committed! She knows what it takes, but it’s also really gruelling. It’s heavy, it’s killer, but she’ll be like, ‘Alright, let’s do it!’ She’s a workhorse.” It’s hard enough getting up at 6 a.m. for work, never mind for an intense workout.
13. She Only Breaks The Rules On Vacation
Well, we hope that she goes on vacation a lot because being on a long-term diet restriction can be pretty difficult to follow. She says that she will allow herself to cheat, but only if she’s on vacation. Even during a regular diet, you should be allowed a cheat day otherwise you risk snapping and binge-eating. “I’m not going to sugarcoat it, this detox is difficult.” She assures the world that she only intends to be on the diet for only three months. “I also know that I need to enjoy my life, so I break the rules when I go on vacation or if there’s a special occasion.” We don’t think that anyone should be on an extreme diet because it just takes the fun out of life.
12. Limited Carbs
Carbs can be one of the hardest things to give up on a diet. Most people will just limit their carbs slightly but still keep them them in their diet. Kim Kardashian, however, has restricted herself to only having 40 grams of net carbs a day and that’s very restrictive. If you have ever heard of the Atkins 40 plan, she basically follows that strict diet. “I did a strict Atkin’s diet. Strict, strict, strict,” Kim told WWD. “It was really hard for me to diet [with the] first baby. This time was so much easier and I realized [it comes down to] the food. I mean, I love to work out and you definitely have to work out to tone up, but so much of it is how you eat. I had to really stay focused. I had to cut out all the sweets and I had such a sweet tooth. After-baby body? I welcome that challenge. It’s so crazy to see what your body can go through and what it’s capable of.”
11. No Sweets Allowed
We’re not sure that we could survive on a diet that limited sugar completely. We’re not just talking about cookies and cakes either. When you remove sugar from your diet, it usually means all sugar including the kind found in fruit. Khloe Kardashian has stated that she wouldn’t be able to survive on the kind of diet that Kim is on. “I wouldn’t last a day on Kim’s new diet. It involves cutting out all sugar and carbs, but it allows meat and dairy. I like sweets too much and also don’t eat red meat or dairy so I’m saying hell no to this one!” She thinks that her sister’s diets are all crazy and we would have to agree. “You won’t believe what my sisters actually eat. We all have such different eating habits that sometimes, when we’re trying to choose a restaurant, I wonder if we’re even related!”
10. Very Little Food
We thought Kourtney’s eating habits during her detox days were bad enough, but the stuff that she eats during a normal day isn’t much either. We wonder if these girls are actually starving. Let’s look at a typical day of eating for Kourtney. She starts her day off with avocado pudding which she claims is the perfect pre-workout meal. We already know she doesn’t snack, so when it comes to lunch, she eats a plate full of protein and vegetables, either chicken or fish accompanied with broccoli or cauliflower. It sounds very plain. When dinnertime approaches, she once again has the same meal that she had at lunch and there are no snacks afterward. She won’t eat again until 14 to 16 hours after her last meal. It sounds like pure torture to us.
9. Only Organic And Gluten Free
We cringe whenever we hear the term gluten free. We understand for allergy sake that there are certainly people who are on gluten-free diets, but aside from allergies, we don’t know why anyone would want to be on a gluten-free diet. You can live and eat healthy without going to extreme measures. When it comes to Kourtney’s diet, she won’t eat anything unless it’s organic and gluten-free. “Kourt only eats organic food and has pretty much convinced herself that she is allergic to dairy and gluten too,” Khloe said of Kourtney’s diet. “She’s by far the most cray about her diet! I always feel like I need to lock my pantry before she comes over so she doesn’t yell at me for what’s in it.” We would have to say the same; we would lock our pantries as well.
8. Obsessed with Tracking Time
Kim Kardashian literally tracks all her time on the treadmill because she is highly motivated to get to her goal weight. People have said that she has lost 7 pounds in a matter of a couple of weeks. On average, you should only be losing two pounds a week if you are doing it the healthy way, so you can see just how extreme her diet is. If you are following the celebrity on Snapchat, you will see her logging her time on her treadmill. She is super dedicated to her goals. Her trainer said, “I’ve worked with a lot of celebrities and she just got it. She was bright and she understood and she was motivated and committed.” There is such a thing as being too motivated, though, and that can take many people to a dangerous place.
7. She Keeps Cutting Down On Carbs
The closer Kim gets to her goal weight, the more extreme her diet becomes. We love our carbs and it’s hard enough limiting them when you’re on a diet, but the last thing you want is to make them non-existent. When Kim starts to creep closer to her goal weight, she will take her carbs from 40 grams per day to 20 grams per day. That really sucks because she’s basically getting no carbs in her diet at all. To give you some idea of how little carbs she’s having, one ounce of almonds equals 6 grams of carbs. You can see that she is really limiting herself throughout the day. We hope she is properly filling herself up with vegetables. It can make your days so much longer when you feel hungry all the time; we would hate to be on a diet like that one.
6. Eating Only 1,000 Calories A Day
Khloe Kardashian has shot down her sister’s meal plans a lot over the past few weeks calling them “extreme” and “cray.” Khloe’s diets certainly don’t seem very fun either and they seem just as extreme as her sisters. According to New Idea, Khloe has been on a diet plan that they recommended that only gives her 1,000 calories day. That’s not a lot considering most women are supposed to take in 2,000 calories a day. Many people can get the same meal plans on New Idea and we think there’s a reason why they consider it a military diet.
5. Thirty-Pound Weight Loss
When it comes to Khloe’s diet, her military plan is very extreme. She eats about as much food as a sedentary person does during the day except that she works out as well and that can be dangerous. When it comes to dieting, you have to make sure you’re getting enough food because you are burning calories throughout the day. The problem with her one-size-fits-all diet plan is that we aren’t all built the same. Apparently, being on a diet plan that’s really made for sedentary people can help you lose up to 30 pounds a month and that’s considered to be extreme results. Most people take around three months to lose that kind of weight, so it can be very dangerous. No wonder these curvy girls are dropping weight like crazy.
4. An Apple Is A Complete Meal
Say it isn’t so! We couldn’t even imagine living like that. Some people consider a snack to be part of getting them through to the next meal if they are hungry. Khloe Kardashian considers her snack to be just an apple and that’s all she gets until lunch time. Apples can be delicious, have you ever had a Golden Delicious? But we don’t think we could survive on just an apple, especially before or after a workout. But that is what it’s like to be on Khloe’s diet plan. If you aren’t used to a diet like this one, you are sure to be really hungry in no time. It’s important to eat throughout your day to give you enough fuel to get through your day.
3. Kim’s Doing It For Life
Yikes, we think that’s a terrible idea. When it comes to Kim’s diet, she’s not just doing it as a quick fix, she is making a lifestyle change and that means she will be eating like that long term. At least Kourtney said that she only intended on being on her diet for three months. Kim’s trainer Heimowitz states, “That’s the secret to long-term success. Find a way of eating that’s sustainable for the rest of your life so you don’t have to gain the weight back. That’s where I’m most proud. She’s not using it as a diet to lose weight. She’s using it as a smarter way to eat.” Sure, eating healthy is a smarter way to live, but going extreme on a diet isn’t always the best way to go. You have to do what is safe for your body and limiting everything isn’t always the best idea.
2. No Coffee
Okay, we’re out. We couldn’t imagine a day without coffee, never mind a life without coffee. It seems so wrong in so many ways. Who could honestly live without coffee? Many trainers and bodybuilders will at least drink their coffee black. Coffee is a great way to get through the day for a much-needed boost of energy. We know we could not live without coffee, it’s so warm and inviting. Khloe has been known to treat herself to a black coffee every now and again, but overall, she avoids it. Treat? Creamer and sugar in the coffee would be a treat, but black coffee is just wrong all around. We wouldn’t even last a day on Khloe’s diet because we would still be in bed exhausted from zero caffeine in our bodies.
1. She Fasts Throughout The Week
Fasting one or two days a week is becoming an increasing trend and it’s one that health experts don’t necessarily agree with. There are many debates in the health industry about whether fasting is a good idea or not. But many people do it as a means of losing some body weight. People will do it for up to five days a week once a month and we have to say that it sounds pretty crazy to us. Kourtney fasts one day a week and during that day she will only consume bone broth and water. We’re not sure that’s healthy at all. Many of the fasting regimens out there have energy-sourced drinks and vitamins that help a person stay as healthy as possible throughout their fast. We doubt that bone broth is giving her everything she needs throughout the day, though.
