The PlayStation 5 will be out in under a month, with the next-gen console set to ship to customers who preordered from November 12.
As such, a Sony Bravia update is headed out to make the televisions more PS5 compatible, according to a report from Gamesradar.
The report reads:
"A mysterious Sony Bravia update is seemingly going out to patch its range of smart TVs for PS5 signal support ahead of the console's launch next month. We can confirm this via our very own Managing Editor of Hardware & eCommerce Brendan Griffiths, who received the update on his Sony X900H/XH90 4K HDR TV today, part of which apparently "enables 4k120 Hz signal support for PlayStation 5"."
The publication wasn't able to confirm which models of the Bravia are being sent v6.038 updates. The patch also adds support for the Apple TV application, enables eARC support, and installs mote parental control operations.
It appears that Sony's keen on having Bravia owners avoid the compatibility quirks often experienced after the release of a new console. The PS5 will be able to run games on 4K at 60 frames per second and Sony has already made claims of a number of its television brands being PS5 ready.
With the launch just a few short weeks away, there are worries over the console's availability. It doesn't appear that gamers could go out to purchase a console from the store as Sony sent invites from which selected customers could preorder their systems.
A number of customers have since received emails from retailers such as Amazon telling them their consoles might not arrive at launch.
